A Hybrid Static Compensator for Dynamic Reactive Power Compensation and Harmonic Suppression

        Jia-Qiang Yang,Lei Yang,Zi-peng Su 전력전자학회 2017 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.17 No.3

This paper presents a combined system of a small-capacity inverter and multigroup delta-connected thyristor switched capacitors (TSCs). The system is referred to as a hybrid static compensator (HSC) and has the functions of dynamic reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression. In the proposed topology, the load reactive power is mainly compensated by the TSCs. Meanwhile the inverter is meant to cooperate with TSCs to achieve continuous reactive power compensation, and to filter the harmonics generated by nonlinear loads and the TSCs. First, the structure and mathematical model of the HSC are discussed Then the control method of the HSC is presented. An improved reduced order generalized integrator (ROGI)-based selective current control method is adopted in the inverter to achieve high-performance reactive and harmonic current compensation. Meanwhile, a switch control strategy is proposed to implement precise and fast switching of the TSCs and to avoid changing the time delay needed by the conventional switch strategy. Experiments are implemented on a 20 KVA HSC prototype and the obtained results verify the validity of the proposed HSC system.

      • Monosomal Karyotypes among 1147 Chinese Patients with Acute Myeloid Leukemia: Prevalence, Features and Prognostic Impact

        Yang, Xiao-Fei,Sun, Ai-Ning,Yin, Jia,Cai, Cheng-Sen,Tian, Xiao-Peng,Qian, Jun,Chen, Su-Ning,Wu, De-Pei Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.11

A monosomal karyotype (MK), defined as ${\geq}2$ autosomal monosomies or a single monosomy in the presence of additional structural abnormalities, was recently identified as an independent prognostic factor conveying an extremely poor prognosis in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). In the present study, after excluding patients with t(15;17), t(8;21), inv(16) and normal karyotypes, 324 AML patients with cytogenetic abnormalities were the main subject of analysis. The incidences of MK were 13% in patients aged 15 to 60 years and 18% in those between 15 and 88 years old. MK was much more prevalent among elderly patients (p < 0.001) and was significantly associated with the presence of -7, -5, del(5q), abn12p, abn17p, -18 or 18q-, -20 or 20q- and CK (for all p < 0.001 except for abn12p p=0.009), and +8 or +8q was less frequent in MK+ AML(p=0.007). No correlation was noted between monosomal karyotype and FAB subtype (p > 0.05); MK remained significantly associated with worse overall survival among patients with complex karyotype (p=0.032); A single autosomal monosomy contributed an additional negative effect in OS of patients with structural cytogenetic abnormalities (P=0.008). This report presents the prevalence, feature and prognostic impact of MK among a large series of Chinese AML patients from a single center for the first time.

      • High-efficiency organic solar cells based on a small-molecule donor and a low-bandgap polymer acceptor with strong absorption

        Yang, Yankang,Qiu, Beibei,Chen, Shanshan,Zhou, Qiuju,Peng, Ying,Zhang, Zhi-Guo,Yao, Jia,Luo, Zhenghui,Chen, Xiaofeng,Xue, Lingwei,Feng, Liuliu,Yang, Changduk,Li, Yongfang The Royal Society of Chemistry 2018 Journal of materials chemistry. A, Materials for e Vol.6 No.20

Solution-processed organic solar cells (OSCs) have been attracting more and more attention for a series of well-known advantages, and power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of over 11% have been reported. However, the highest PCE of the OSCs based on small molecule donor/polymer acceptor blends is only 4.82%, which was much lower than those of other types of OSCs due to weak absorption of the polymer acceptor and the unbalanced charge carrier mobility of the small molecule donor and the polymer acceptor. Here, we fabricated small molecule donor/polymer acceptor-based OSCs using the wide bandgap SM1 and DR3TBDTT as the small molecular donor and the low-bandgap n-type conjugated polymer PZ1 as the polymer acceptor. With the treatment of a solvent additive, which can promote the absorption intensity, enhance the carrier mobility and suppress the charge carrier recombination, the SM1-based devices and the DR3TBDTT-based devices show PCEs of 3.97% and 5.86%, respectively. It is worth mentioning that the PCE of 5.86% is the state-of-the-art efficiency for OSCs based on the small molecular donor/polymer acceptor system.

High‑Efficiency Inhibition of Gravity Segregation in Al–Bi Immiscible Alloys by Adding Lanthanum

        Peng Jia,Jinyang Zhang,Haoran Geng,Xinying Teng,Degang Zhao,Zhongxi Yang,Yi Wang,Song Hu,Jun Xiang,Xun Hu 대한금속·재료학회 2018 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.24 No.6

The inhibition of gravity segregation has been a long-standing challenge in fabrication and applications of homogeneousimmiscible alloys. Therefore, the effect of rare-earth La on the gravity segregation of Al–Bi immiscible alloys was investigatedto understand the homogenization mechanism. The results showed that the addition of La can completely suppress thegravity segregation. This is attributed to the nucleation of Bi-rich liquid phase on the in-situ produced LaBi2phase and thechange of the shape of LaBi2@Bi droplets. In addition, a novel strategy is developed to prepare the homogeneous immisciblealloys through the addition of rare-earth elements. This strategy not only is applicable to other immiscible alloys, but alsois conducive to finding more elements to suppress the gravity segregation. This study provided a useful reference for thefabrication of the homogeneous immiscible alloys.

Microwave-Accelerated Click Chemistry: Expeditious Synthesis of Novel Triazole-linked Salicylic β-D-O-Glycosides with PTP1B Inhibitory Activity

        Yang, Jin-Wei,Li, Cui,He, Xiao-Peng,Zhao, Hong,Gao, Li-Xin,Zhang, Wei,Shi, Xiao-Xin,Tang, Yun,Li, Jia,Chen, Guo-Rong Korean Chemical Society 2010 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.31 No.11

The incorporation of microwave irradiation with the prevalent "click chemistry" is currently of considerable synthetic interest. We describe here the introduction of such laboratorial shortcut into carbohydrate-based drug discovery, resulting in the rapid formation of a series of triazole-linked salicylic $\beta$-D-O-glycosides with biological activities. All "clicked" products were achieved in excellent yields ($\approx$ 90%) within only a quarter. In addition, based on the structural characteristics of the afforded glycomimetics, their inhibitory activities were evaluated toward protein tyrosine phosphatases 1B (PTP1B) and a panel of homologous protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs). Docking simulation was also conducted to plausibly propose binding modes of this glycosyl salicylate series with the enzymatic target.

Polymorphism of NLRP3 Gene and Association with Susceptibility to Digestive Disorders in Rabbit

        Yang, Yu,Zhang, Gong-Wei,Chen, Shi-Yi,Peng, Jin,Lai, Song-Jia Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2013 Animal Bioscience Vol.26 No.4

NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) is a key component of the inflammasome, whose assembly is a crucial part of the innate immune response. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the association between exon 3 polymorphisms of NLRP3 and the susceptibility to digestive disorders in rabbits. In total, five coding single-nucleotide polymorphisms (cSNPs) were identified; all of which are synonymous. Among them, c.456 C> and c.594 G> were further genotyped for association analysis based on case-control design (n =162 vs n =102). Meanwhile, growing rabbits were experimentally induced to digestive disorders by feeding a fiber-deficient diet, subsequently they were subjected to mRNA expression analysis. Association analysis revealed that haplotype H1 (the two cSNPs: GT) played a potential protective role against digestive disorders (p<0.001). The expression of NLRP3 in the group $H1HX_1$ ($H1HX_1$ is composed of H1H1, H1H3 and H1H4) was the lowest among four groups which were classified by different types of diplotypes. Those results suggested that the NLRP3 gene was significantly associated with susceptibility to digestive disorders in rabbit.

Rapid Genotyping of MSTN Gene Polymorphism Using High-resolution Melting for Association Study in Rabbits

        Peng, Jin,Zhang, Gong-Wei,Zhang, Wen-Xiu,Liu, Yun-Fu,Yang, Yu,Lai, Song-Jia Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2013 Animal Bioscience Vol.26 No.1

The myostatin (MSTN) gene, as a negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth, has been proposed to be associated with production traits in farm animals. In the present study, a T/C variant at -125 bp (relative to ATG start codon) of 5'regulatory region of rabbit MSTN was identified by direct sequencing. Two hundred and twenty two rabbits, which were randomly sampled from 3 breeds (Ira rabbits, Champagne rabbits and Tianfu black rabbits), were genotyped by high-resolution melting (HRM). Comparing the genotyping results of 47 samples with direct sequencing, the HRM showed high sensitivity (0.96) and high specificity (0.98). In the three rabbit breeds, the allele C was the predominant allele. The polymorphic site showed high heterozygosity (He = 0.48) and high effective number of alleles (Ne = 1.91). The genetic diversity was reasonably informative (0.25<PIC<0.50). The association analysis showed that the genotype TC had significant effect on the 84-d-weight of rabbits compared with genotype CC (p = 0.047). In contrast, the genotypes had no significant effect on other production traits. These results showed that HRM could be effectively used for genotyping analysis of MSTN gene. The T/C variant in 5'regulatory region of MSTN might be one of the candidate SNP loci affecting the trait of 84-d-weight.

The Entrainment Effect of a Debris Avalanche on the Erodible Substrate in the Presence of Water Flow

        Peng-yuan Lu,Xing-guo Yang,Jia-wen Zhou 대한토목학회 2018 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.22 No.1

Debris avalanches generally entrain the erodible deposits on their runout path, which can greatly influence their movement process, particularly in the presence of water flow. To study the entrainment effect of debris avalanches, physical modeling experiments were conducted that considered the impact of hopper elevation, the grain size of substrate materials and water flow. The experiment results indicate that the materials entrained by a debris avalanche increase with an increase in elevation of the hopper and particle size of the substrate materials in the rear region of the substrate. The presence of water flow can magnify the entrainment effect and enhance the mobility of the debris avalanche. However, the effect of water flow on the entrainment effect is significantly related to the grain size of the deposits. With a decrease in grain size, a water stream is easier to generate, which can cause intense scouring of the substrate materials and enhance the mobility of the mixed flow of debris and entrained deposits, ultimately leading to a greater affected area.

Improved antimicrobial effect of ginseng extract by heat transformation

        Peng Xue,Yang Yao,Xiu-Shi Yang,Jia Feng,Gui-xing Ren 고려인삼학회 2017 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.41 No.2

Background: The incidence of halitosis has a prevalence of 22e50% throughout the world and is generally caused by anaerobic oral microorganisms, such as Fusobacterium nucleatum, Clostridium perfringens, and Porphyromonas gingivalis. Previous investigations on the structure-activity relationships of ginsenosides have led to contrasting results. Particularly, the antibacterial activity of less polar ginsenosides against halitosis-related bacteria has not been reported. Methods: Crude saponins extracted from the Panax quinquefolius leaf-stem (AGS) were treated at 130C for 3 h to obtain heat-transformed saponins (HTS). Five ginsenoside-enriched fractions (HTS-1, HTS-2, HTS-3, HTS-4, and HTS-5) and less polar ginsenosides were separated by HP-20 resin absorption and HPLC, and the antimicrobial activity and mechanism were investigated. Results: HPLC with diode-array detection analysis revealed that heat treatment induced an extensive conversion of polar ginsenosides (-Rg1/Re, -Rc, -Rb2, and -Rd) to less polar compounds (-Rg2, -Rg3, -Rg6, -F4, -Rg5, and -Rk1). The antimicrobial assays showed that HTS, HTS-3, and HTS-4 were effective at inhibiting the growth of F. nucleatum, C. perfringens, and P. gingivalis. Ginsenosides-Rg5 showed the best antimicrobial activity against the three bacteria, with the lowest values of minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration. One major reason for this result is that less polar ginsenosides can more easily damage membrane integrity. Conclusion: The results indicated that the less polar ginsenoside-enriched fraction from heat transformation can be used as an antibacterial agent to control halitosis.
