        The USP21/YY1/SNHG16 axis contributes to tumor proliferation, migration, and invasion of non-small-cell lung cancer

        Deubiquitinases (DUBs) and noncoding RNAs have been the subjects of recent extensive studies regarding their roles in lung cancer, but the mechanisms involved are largely unknown. In our study, we used The Cancer Genome Atlas data set and bioinformatics analyses and identified USP21, a DUB, as a potential contributor to oncogenesis in nonsmall-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We further demonstrated that USP21 was highly expressed in NSCLCs. We then conducted a series of in vitro and in vivo assays to explore the effect of USP21 on NSCLC progression and the underlying mechanism involved. USP21 promoted NSCLC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion and in vivo tumor growth by stabilizing a well-known oncogene, Yin Yang-1 (YY1), via mediating its deubiquitination. Furthermore, YY1 transcriptionally regulates the expression of SNHG16. Moreover, StarBase bioinformatics analyses predicted that miR4500 targets SNHG16 and USP21. A series of in vitro experiments indicated that SNHG16 increased the expression of USP21 through miR-4500. In summary, the USP21/YY1/SNHG16 axis plays a role in promoting the progression of NSCLC. Therefore, the USP21/YY1/SNHG16/miR-4500 axis may be a potential therapeutic target in NSCLC treatment.

        Improved Work Function of Preferentially Oriented Indium Oxide Films Induced by the Plasma Exposure Technique

        The preferentially oriented In2O3 thin films were prepared on glass substrates by conventional magnetron sputtering with Ar+ plasma exposure at room temperature. Based on the x-ray diffraction, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and UV photoelectron spectroscopy results, it was found that the Ar+ plasma exposure not only enhanced the low-temperature crystallization of In2O3 thin films, but also led to a dramatic improvement in the work function. Furthermore, it demonstrated that the shift mechanism of the work function in In2O3 thin films mainly combined with theelimination of oxygen defects and the change of the preferential orientation of In2O3 film surface.

        Implementation of One-Cycle Control for Switched Capacitor Converters

        An extension of the one-cycle control (OCC) method for switched-capacitor (SC) converters is proposed in this paper, featuring a fast dynamic response, wide line and load operation ranges, and simplicity in implementation. To illustrate the operation principle of this nonlinear control method and to demonstrate its simplicity in design, a dual-phase unity gain SC converter is examined. A new control loop based on the charge balance in a flying capacitor is formulated for the OCC technique and implemented with a 15W dual-phase unity gain SC converter on a circuit board for control verification. The obtained experimental results show that external disturbances can be rejected in one switching cycle by the OCC controlled SC converter with good line and load regulations. When compared to other control methods, the proposed nonlinear control loop exhibits superior dynamic performance in suppressing input and load disturbances.

        Improvement of comprehensive performance of compound green soil in sponge city

        Large-scale constructions of urbanization increase the impervious areas of city, leading to the urban hydrological effects such as urban waterlogging and rainwater runoff pollution. To this end, China proposed to adopt the measure to build sponge cities. However, the existing green soil cannot meet the comprehensive needs of sponge city. In order to quickly evaluate the comprehensive performance of the soil in sponge city, a comprehensive evaluation criterion was designed, which is related to the characteristics of greening soil permeability, porosity, pH, salinity and fertility. Based on the criterion, a new type of composite green soil was obtained with the silt soil: medium sand: sawdust ratio of 72.5%: 20%: 7.5%. Finally, compared with the existing soil, the new green soil not only meets the comprehensive performance requirements of the green soil’s fertility, pH, permeability and other factors, but also has higher permeability and water retention. It was proved that the new green soil has apparent advantages in the control of rainwater.

        MiR-590 Inhibits Endothelial Cell Apoptosis by Inactivating the TLR4/NF-κB Pathway in Atherosclerosis

        Purpose: Previous study has well documented the anti-apoptotic effects of miR-590 on oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL)-treated endothelial cells (ECs). However, the mechanism underlying the anti-apoptotic effects of miR-590 in ox-LDL-treated ECsremains to be further addressed. Materials and Methods: ApoE-/- mice fed with a high-fat diet (HFD) and human aortic endothelial cells (HAECs) treated with ox-LDL were used as in vivo and in vitro models of atherosclerosis. The expressions of miR-590 and toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) weredetected by quantitative real-time PCR and Western blot, respectively. Atherosclerotic lesion analysis was performed using Evansblue and hematoxylin-eosin staining. Cell proliferation was assessed by MTT assay. Apoptosis was examined using flow cytometryanalysis and Western blot analysis of Cleaved poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) and Cleaved Caspase-3 levels. The effect ofmiR-590 on TLR4/nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) pathway was evaluated by Western blot. Binding between miR-590 and TLR4was confirmed by luciferase reporter assay and Western blot. Results: miR-590 was downregulated in the aorta tissues from HFD-fed apoE-/- mice and ox-LDL-treated HAECs. miR-590 overexpressioninhibited atherosclerotic lesion in HFD-induced apoE-/- mice and promoted proliferation and inhibited apoptosis of ox-LDL-treated HAECs. Additionally, TLR4 was identified as a direct target of miR-590 in ox-LDL-treated HAECs. Moreover, antimiR-590 reversed TLR4 knockdown-mediated promotion of cell proliferation and suppression of apoptosis in ox-LDL-treatedHAECs. miR-590 overexpression suppressed the TLR4/NF-κB pathway, and inhibition of the TLR4/NF-κB pathway promoted cellproliferation and impeded apoptosis in ox-LDL-treated HAECs. Conclusion: miR-590 promoted proliferation and blocked ox-LDL-induced apoptosis in HAECs through inhibition of the TLR4/NF-κB pathway.

      • Optimal Decisions and Coordination Mechanisms for a Fresh Agricultural Product Supply Chain System

        For a one-supplier-one-retailer agricultural product supply chain, quantity and quality of the agricultural products often reduce because their own perishable and anthropogenic factors in the process from the supplier via the retailer to final consumers. This paper takes shortage and deterioration factors into account, establishes related profit functions of the supplier and the retailer, obtains the optimal ordering cycle and quantity decisions, and analyzes the impact of deterioration on decision makers under the decentralized system. To maximize the total profit of supply chain, we explore coordination mechanisms for the supply chain when considering shortage and deterioration factors, such as revenue sharing contract, quantity discount contract and buy-back contract. By comparing these different contracts, the coordination effect is analyzed in details. Finally, through series of numerical analysis, some managerial insights are provided.

      • The Speech Signal Noise Elimination based on the Wavelet Packet Transformation in the OFDM Underwater Acoustic Communication System

        A method is promoted to eliminate the noise of the speech signal in the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) underwater acoustic communication system based on the wavelet packet decomposition and reconstruction. The wavelet packet decomposition is accomplished by analyzing the different wavelet transform coefficient distribution characteristics of the signal and the noise. The speech signal is stratified to determine the best wavelet packet decomposition tree, the threshold value is quantified, and the wavelet packet decomposition is completed. The threshold value can be used to eliminate signal noise. Finally, the transmitted signal is reconstructed by the inverse transformation of the wavelet packet. The computer simulation results show that the method of wavelet packet decomposition is worked for the speech signal processing in the OFDM underwater acoustic communication system. For the speech signal transferred in the underwater acoustic channel, the noise can be eliminated and the valid signal can be kept effectively.

      • An Improved Harris-SIFT Algorithm Based on Rotation-invariant LBP Operator

        Feature-points matching is an important concept in binocular stereo vision. The procession of multi-scale feature-points matching in classical Harris-SIFT algorithm is time-consuming and has high complexity when describing the feature-points. This paper proposed a new improved Harris-SIFT algorithm based on rotation-invariant LBP (Local binary patterns) operator. Firstly, the Harris operator is used to extract feature points from DOG (Difference of Gaussian) scale space. Then, the dominant direction of feature point is calculated and 81-dimensional rotation-invariant LBP descriptors are extracted when the rotation matching window is coordinated to this direction. At last, Best-Bin-First (BBF) algorithm is used to search the matching points between the two sets of feature points. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is lower time-consuming than classical Harris-SIFT algorithm and remains the similar matching correct rate.

        Solvent-free aerobic oxidation of ethylbenzene over Mn-containing silylated MgAl layered double hydroxides

        A novel method for the preparation of Mn-containing silylated layered double hydroxides (LDHs) ispresented. The method involves functionalizing the calcined MgAl LDH (LDO) with dimethoxydiphenylsilane(DDS), and then treating it in the aqueous solution of KMnO4 under Ar. The prepared Mncontainingsilylated MgAl LDH catalysts have higher Mn amount and more accessible Mn sites than thecorresponding Mn-containing MgAl LDH catalysts, and exhibited much higher catalytic activity in theoxidation of ethylbenzene with O2 in the absence of organic solvents than the latter. In addition, theprepared Mn-containing silylated MgAl LDH catalyst was highly stable and reusable.
