랜덤화 블록 계획법에서 위치를 이용한 비모수 검정법

        심수진,김동재,Sim, Sujin,Kim, Dongjae 한국데이터정보과학회 2013 한국데이터정보과학회지 Vol.24 No.6

Kim and Kim (1992) proposed typical nonparametric method for umbrella alternative in randomized block design with replications. In this paper, We consider a test procedure for umbrella alternatives in a randomized block design using extension of the two sample placement tests described in Orban and Wolfe (1982) and treatment tests described in Kim (1999). We perform a Monte Carlo study to compare the empirical powers of the test statistics for underlying distributions.

Vol.17 No.3

This study examines the concept of plurilingual and pluricultural competence presented by the CEFR(2018) and proposes application methods in Korean language education. In Korean language education, learners can improve their competence to target language and culture by understanding that learners have various languages and cultural backgrounds and utilizing such resources and experiences. To this end, the understanding and acceptance of culture can be facilitated by establishing a pluricultural repertoire. The target language can be learned by utilizing various language resources through plurilingual understanding of plurilingualism. Furthermore, by building a plurilingual repertoire, it is possible to take advantage of the language resources that learners have to take the initiative in language learning. By applying this concept, a teaching-learning method can be proposed so that learners can utilize each other's language and cultural resources in professor learning, which used only Korean, the target language in Korean education. Age-dependent gait abnormalities in mice lacking the <i>Rnf170</i> gene linked to human autosomal-dominant sensory ataxia

        Kim, Youngsoo,Kim, Seong Hun,Kim, Kook Hwan,Chae, Sujin,Kim, Chanki,Kim, Jeongjin,Shin, Hee-Sup,Lee, Myung-Shik,Kim, Daesoo IRL Press 2015 Human molecular genetics Vol.24 No.25

<P>Really interesting new gene (RING) finger protein 170 (RNF170) is an E3 ubiquitin ligase known to mediate ubiquitination-dependent degradation of type-I inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptors (ITPR1). It has recently been demonstrated that a point mutation of <I>RNF170</I> gene is linked with autosomal-dominant sensory ataxia (ADSA), which is characterized by an age-dependent increase of walking abnormalities, a rare genetic disorder reported in only two families. Although this mutant allele is known to be dominant, the functional identity thereof has not been clearly established. Here, we generated mice lacking <I>Rnf170</I> (<I>Rnf170−/−</I>) to evaluate the effect of its loss of function <I>in vivo</I>. Remarkably, <I>Rnf170−/−</I> mice began to develop gait abnormalities in old age (12 months) in the form of asynchronous stepping between diagonal limb pairs with a fixed step sequence during locomotion, while age-matched wild-type mice showed stable gait patterns using several step sequence repertoires. As reported in ADSA patients, they also showed a reduced sensitivity for proprioception and thermal nociception. Protein blot analysis revealed that the amount of Itpr1 protein was significantly elevated in the cerebellum and spinal cord but intact in the cerebral cortex in <I>Rnf170−/−</I> mice. These results suggest that the loss of <I>Rnf170</I> gene function mediates ADSA-associated phenotypes and this gives insights on the cure of patients with ADSA and other age-dependent walking abnormalities.</P>

SARS-CoV-2 mRNA Vaccine Elicits Sustained T Cell Responses Against the Omicron Variant in Adolescents

        Sujin Choi,Sang-Hoon Kim,Mi Seon Han,Yoonsun Yoon,Yun-Kyung Kim,Hye-Kyung Cho,Ki Wook Yun,Seung Ha Song,Bin Ahn,Ye Kyung Kim,Sung Hwan Choi,Young June Choe,Heeji Lim,Eun Bee Choi,Kwangwook Kim,Seokhwa 대한면역학회 2023 Immune Network Vol.23 No.4

Vaccination against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been acknowledged as an effective mean of preventing infection and hospitalization. However, the emergence of highly transmissible SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern (VOCs) has led to substantial increase in infections among children and adolescents. Vaccineinduced immunity and longevity have not been well defined in this population. Therefore, we aimed to analyze humoral and cellular immune responses against ancestral and SARSCoV- 2 variants after two shots of the BNT162b2 vaccine in healthy adolescents. Although vaccination induced a robust increase of spike-specific binding Abs and neutralizing Abs against the ancestral and SARS-CoV-2 variants, the neutralizing activity against the Omicron variant was significantly low. On the contrary, vaccine-induced memory CD4+ T cells exhibited substantial responses against both ancestral and Omicron spike proteins. Notably, CD4+ T cell responses against both ancestral and Omicron strains were preserved at 3 months after two shots of the BNT162b2 vaccine without waning. Polyfunctionality of vaccine-induced memory T cells was also preserved in response to Omicron spike protein. The present findings characterize the protective immunity of vaccination for adolescents in the era of continuous emergence of variants/subvariants.

Synthesis and electroluminescent properties of <i>tert</i>-butylated arylamine substituted 9,10-diphenylanthracene derivatives for organic light-emitting diodes

Kim, Dong Young,Kim, Young Seok,Kim, Se Hyun,Jeong, Sujin,Lee, Song Eun,Kim, Young Kwan,Yoon, Seung Soo Elsevier 2016 Synthetic metals Vol.220 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This paper reports synthesis and electroluminescent properties of the <I>tert</I>-butylated arylamine-substituted 9,10-diphenylanthracene derivatives for organic light-emitting diodes. The devices using these materials were fabricated in the following sequence: indium-tin-oxide/<I>N</I>,<I>N'</I>-di(1-naphthyl)-<I>N</I>,<I>N'</I>-diphenyl-(1,1′-biphenyl)-4,4′-diamine/emitting material/bathophenanthroline/lithium quinolate/aluminum. All devices showed the efficient electroluminescence depending on the photoluminescent properties of emitters. In particular, a device using 2-<I>tert</I>-butyl-9-(9,10-diphenylanthracen-2-yl)-9<I>H</I>-carbazole exhibited blue emission with the maximum luminance, luminous efficiency, power efficiency and external quantum efficiency of 2552cd/m2, 2.14cd/A, 1.17lm/W and 2.04% at 20mA/cm2, respectively, and Commission Internationale d′Éclairage (CIE) coordinates of (0.15, 0.12) at 6.0V. These results suggest that the degree of self-aggregation of the emitters and charge-balances in the emitting layers of devices would be important roles in electroluminescent properties of devices.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> We synthesized the fluorescent materials based on arylamine substituted anthracene. </LI> <LI> These materials showed efficient blue and greenish-blue electroluminescence. </LI> <LI> These materials have appropriate potentials for applications in fluorescent OLEDs. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Prenatal exposure to persistent organic pollutants and methylation of LINE-1 and imprinted genes in placenta: A CHECK cohort study

        Kim, Sujin,Cho, Yoon Hee,Lee, Inae,Kim, Wonji,Won, Sungho,Ku, Ja-Lok,Moon, Hyo-Bang,Park, Jeongim,Kim, Sungkyoon,Choi, Gyuyeon,Choi, Kyungho Elsevier 2018 Environment international Vol.119 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Prenatal exposure to persistent organic pollutants (POPs) has been linked to numerous adverse birth outcomes among newborn infants in many epidemiological studies. Although epigenetic modifications have been suggested as possible explanations for those associations, studies have rarely reported a relationship between POP exposure during pregnancy and DNA methylation in the placenta.</P> <P>In the present study, we investigated the association between prenatal exposure to several POPs, including organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and methylation levels of long interspersed element 1 (LINE-1), as well as imprinted genes in placental DNAs among Korean mother-child pairs (N = 109). We assessed the association of DNA methylation not only with each target POP (single-POP models) but also with multiple POPs applying principal component analysis (multiple-POP models). Potential associations between placental DNA methylation and birth outcomes of newborn infants were also estimated.</P> <P>In single-POP models, significant associations were detected between OCP measurements and placental DNA methylation. Elevated concentrations of β-hexachlorhexane (β-HCH) in maternal serum collected during delivery were significantly associated with a decrease in methylation of LINE-1 in the placenta. Higher levels of <I>p</I>,<I>p</I>′-dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (<I>p</I>,<I>p</I>′-DDT) in maternal serum were associated with hypermethylation of <I>insulin-like growth factor 2</I> (<I>IGF2</I>). In multiple-POP models, a significant and positive association between DDTs and <I>IGF2</I> methylation was also observed. Placental LINE-1 methylation was inversely associated with birth length. Our observations indicate that prenatal exposure to several POPs including DDTs is associated with the changes in methylation of genes, including major imprinted genes in the placenta. The consequences of these epigenetic alterations in placenta during development deserve further investigation.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Associations between POP exposure and placental DNA methylation were evaluated. </LI> <LI> A multi-pollutant exposure was added in the models with principal component analysis. </LI> <LI> Exposure to DDTs, including <I>p</I>,<I>p</I>′-DDT, was related to methylation of <I>IGF2</I> in the placenta. </LI> <LI> Several POPs might affect epigenetic regulation of key placental DNAs. </LI> </UL> </P>

      • Topographical Visualization of the Reciprocal Projection between the Medial Septum and the Hippocampus in the 5XFAD Mouse Model of Alzheimer’s Disease

        Kim, Sujin,Nam, Yunkwon,Jeong, Yu-on,Park, Hyun Ha,Lee, Seong-kyung,Shin, Soo Jung,Jung, Haram,Kim, Byeong-Hyeon,Hong, Sang Bum,Park, Yong Ho,Kim, Jihee,Yu, Jaemin,Yoo, Doo-Han,Park, Sun-Hyun,Jeon, Se MDPI AG 2019 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MOLECULAR SCIENCES Vol.20 No.16

<P>It is widely known that the degeneration of neural circuits is prominent in the brains of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients. The reciprocal connectivity of the medial septum (MS) and hippocampus, which constitutes the septo-hippocampo-septal (SHS) loop, is known to be associated with learning and memory. Despite the importance of the reciprocal projections between the MS and hippocampus in AD, the alteration of bidirectional connectivity between two structures has not yet been investigated at the mesoscale level. In this study, we adopted AD animal model, five familial AD mutations (5XFAD) mice, and anterograde and retrograde tracers, BDA and DiI, respectively, to visualize the pathology-related changes in topographical connectivity of the SHS loop in the 5XFAD brain. By comparing 4.5-month-old and 14-month-old 5XFAD mice, we successfully identified key circuit components of the SHS loop altered in 5XFAD brains. Remarkably, the SHS loop began to degenerate in 4.5-month-old 5XFAD mice before the onset of neuronal loss. The impairment of connectivity between the MS and hippocampus was accelerated in 14-month-old 5XFAD mice. These results demonstrate, for the first time, topographical evidence for the degradation of the interconnection between the MS and hippocampus at the mesoscale level in a mouse model of AD. Our results provide structural and functional insights into the interconnectivity of the MS and hippocampus, which will inform the use and development of various therapeutic approaches that target neural circuits for the treatment of AD.</P>

Associations of Clozapine Use With Psychosocial Functioning and Quality of Life in Patients With Schizophrenia: A Community-Based Cross-Sectional Study

        Sujin Kim,Seoyoung Kim,Ah Young Choe,Euitae Kim 대한신경정신의학회 2021 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.18 No.10

Objective More attempts have been made recently to improve psychosocial functioning and quality of life in patients with schizophrenia, due to their crucial role in long-term outcomes. Previous studies on the effects of clozapine on psychosocial functioning have been limited in terms of generalizability and application to clinical practice. This study examined the relationship of clozapine use with psychosocial functioning and quality of life in patients with schizophrenia in a real-world setting. Methods Data were obtained from a survey targeting community-dwelling patients with schizophrenia. The Behavior and Symptom Identification Scale (BASIS) and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) were administered to evaluate psychosocial functioning and quality of life, and patients were classified into Clozapine and Non-clozapine groups. Group differences were assessed using ANCOVA, with additional sensitivity analyses for participants on atypical antipsychotic medications only. Results Of 292 patients, the Clozapine group (n=34) had significantly better psychosocial functioning and quality of life than the Nonclozapine group (n=258), as demonstrated by their low BASIS score (F=4.651, df=1, 290, p=0.032) and high SWLS score (F=14.637, df=1, 290, p<0.001). Similar findings for psychosocial outcomes were observed in the analyses of the atypical antipsychotic subgroup (n=195). Conclusion For optimal recovery in schizophrenia, restoration of impaired social functioning and enhanced satisfaction with life are essential. In this study, clozapine use was related to high levels of psychosocial functioning and quality of life in real-world settings. Further research on the causal relationship between clozapine use and psychosocial functioning is needed.
