        Genomic appraisal of Klebsiella PGPB isolated from soil to enhance the growth of barley

        Background PGPR has substituted chemical fertilizers to enhance the nutrient profle of the soil. Although gene encoding for PGP activity is present in PGPB their activity changes in response to conditions. Objective To study comparative genomics for three Klebsiella strains and their PGPR activity in response to in vitro and soil condition. Methods We evaluated the activity of three Klebsiella spp. in two diferent conditions, specifc nitrogen-defcient MS media and greenhouse experiment. Applying comparative genomics, genes encoding for PGP traits were identifed from the wholegenome sequencing of the three strains. With the help of the RAST tool kit and functional annotation, a total number of genes encoding for cell wall capsule, nitrogen metabolism, sulfur genes and many other functional groups were identifed. With the help of blast circular genome, similarity between GC content, pseudogene and tRNA was represented. The percentage of gene similarity of SSN1 was generated against BLAST with M5a1 and SGM81. Other methods like synteny alignment and orthologous gene clusters were applied to understand the homologous present in three strains. Results SSN1 was actively producing the maximum amount of ammonia 10.97±0.29 µmol/mL compared to the other two strains. K. oxytoca M5a1 was considered negative for all PGP traits except ammonia production. The activity of SSN1 was showing a consistent pattern both the conditions whereas M5a1 was only active in vitro condition. Gene encoding for allantoin metabolism allD, allC, allB, allA, allE, allR, allH were identifed in SSN1 and M5a1 but was absent in SGM81. The highest COG was shared between SGM81 and SSN1 predicting a maximum number of similar genes. The nif gene cluster was 98% identical to the M5a1 strain. Conclusions Comparatively, SSN1 expressed the additional gene for various PGP traits which suggest higher efciency of strain in nitrogen defciency stress.

        <P>The IL-1 family member 7b (IL-1F7b) is a novel homolog of the IL-1 cytokine family discovered by computational cloning. We have reported that IL-1F7b shares critical amino acid residues with IL-18 and binds the IL-18-binding protein; in doing so, IL-1F7b augments the inhibition of IFN-gamma by the IL-18-binding protein. IL-1F7b also binds IL-18Ralpha but neither induces signal nor acts as a receptor antagonist. Hence, the function of IL-1F7b remains unknown. In the present study, we analyzed the intracellular expression pattern of IL-1F7b. Using two variants of GFP fusion constructs of human IL-1F7b stably expressed in RAW macrophages, only the postcleavage mature form of the IL-1F7b precursor-but not the N-terminal propiece-specifically translocates to the nucleus following LPS stimulation. IL-1F7b, like IL-1beta, IL-18, and IL-33, is processed by caspase-1 to generate the mature cytokines. Therefore, we tested whether caspase-1-mediated cleavage of the IL-1F7b precursor is required for mature IL-1F7b to translocate actively into the nucleus. Indeed, a specific caspase-1 inhibitor markedly reduced nuclear entry of IL-1F7b. In stable transfectants of human IL-1F7b in RAW macrophages stimulated with LPS, levels of TNF-alpha, IL-1alpha, IL-6, as well as the chemokine MIP-2, were substantially reduced (72-98%) compared with LPS-stimulated cells transfected with the empty plasmid. These results demonstrate that IL-1F7b translocates to the nucleus after caspase-1 processing and may act as a transcriptional modulator reducing the production of LPS-stimulated proinflammatory cytokines, consistent with IL-1F7b being an anti-inflammatory member of the IL-1 family.</P>

        Recent advances in enhanced photocatalytic activity of bismuth oxyhalides for efficient photocatalysis of organic pollutants in water: A review

        Recently, layered bismuth oxyhalides (BiOX, X = F, Cl, Br and I) have received significant attention aspotential photocatalysts for energy and environment applications. However, limited visible light activityand recombination of photogenerated charge carriers limit their applications for photocatalytic waterpurification. In this review, various strategies such as heterojunction formation, metal/non-metal doping,interface modification, enhancement in Bi content, inner coupling between different BiOX photocatalyst,use of sensitizers and creation of oxygen vacancies was deliberated for improved photocatalyticperformance of BiOX. The integration of BiOX with other photocatalysts, mechanism for enhancedactivity and conclusive outlook with future challenges was also elaborated.

      • A Comparative Analysis of Phishing Detection and Prevention Techniques

        Phishing assaults use websites and email messages similar to a familiar and genuine organization, so as to trick users into giving their financial or personal information online at the illegal websites. Phishing assaults look out at the various weak points that are present in systems and frameworks because of the human factor. There exist numerous cyber-attacks which are spread through different methods or schemes. They utilize these shortcomings found in end users, thus making the users as the most vulnerable component in terms of security. The phishing problem is extensive, expansive and till now there is no single answer to alleviate all the existing weak points effectively. This leads to implementation of multiple techniques to reduce specific attacks. This paper surveys the literature on the recently proposed anti-phishing techniques designed to detect and prevent phishing.

        Polystyrene stabilized Pd-Au nanoalloy for efficient synthesis of bis (indolyl)methanes from aryl iodides using oxalic acid as CO and H2 source

        Herein, first example of heterogeneously catalyzed carbonylative synthesis of bis(indolyl)methanes fromaryl iodides in one-pot and single-step manner has been reported. The reaction was best catalyzed bypolystyrene supported bimetallic Pd-Au (Pd-Au@PS) nanoparticles (NPs) in comparison to various supportedmonometallic Pd-catalysts. The key feature of this protocol involves the application of oxalic acidas economic, solid, and safe multi-functional reagent which acts as a CO, H2 source as well as acid cocatalystwith PEG-200 as green solvent reaction medium for delivering moderate to excellent yields ofthe desired products, bis(indolyl)methanes (BIMs). The developed protocol is additive, phosphineligand-free under air/moisture stable recyclable catalyst bearing easy accessibility/affordability to startingmaterials.

        Application of Artificial Neural Network to Predict the Crystallite Size and Lattice Strain of CoCrFeMnNi High Entropy Alloy Prepared by Powder Metallurgy

        An equiatomic CoCrFeMnNi high entropy alloy (HEA) was prepared by the gas atomization process. In addition, highenergymilling was carried out to study the effects of milling parameters on the morphology and crystallographic propertiesof HEA powders. Phase identification and morphology of milled powders were observed by X-ray diffraction and scanningelectron microscopy, respectively. Both the atomized and milled powders exhibited a single-phase face-centered cubic solidsolution. The resultant crystallite size (CS) and lattice strain (LS) of milled HEAs were estimated using the WilliamsonHall method and predicted using an artificial neural network (ANN) approach. With increasing the milling time from 0 to240 min, the CS decreased from 39.7 to 6.56 nm and the LS increased from 0.25%–1.48%, respectively. Furthermore, thedeveloped ANN modeling provides an excellent method for the prediction of the CS and LS with excellent accuracies of96.25% and 93.43%, respectively.

        Generation of Electrical Energy Using Fish Market Waste Fish Fin from Mechanical Motion for Battery-Less Self—Powered Wearable Sensors and IoT Devices

        The main idea behind this study is to fabricate a cost-effective and eco-friendly source of electrical energy for battery-less IOT devices, sensors and small medical/electronic wearable devices, as per the UN’s sustainable development goal SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy). In this study, an electrical energy generation device triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) is designed and fabricated from fish fin, which is biocompatible, non-toxic, and treated as waste material in the fish market. The fish fin isolated from the waste of the fish is converted to the dielectric layer of the TENG, which is further utilized to convert ambient mechanical energy into useful electrical energy. The thermal stability of the material also has been tested using TGA, and it was observed that it was stable to work up to 100°C. Other biomaterial combinations of egg shell membrane, dog hairs, and tree cotton are also tested in this study. The output of the fish fin based fabricated TENG is utilized to power up 65 green LEDs connected in the series, which is equivalent to 130 V of voltage, and the current of 1.1µA was measured across a 1MΩ resistor. This output of the TENG was used to power up a small digital watch. The fabricated device can also be used as sensor to detect human motion.

        Scopoletin Improves Glucose Homeostasis in the High-Fructose High-Fat Diet–Induced Diabetes Model in Wistar Rats

        Antihyperglycemic action of scopoletin needs to be validated before considering it for clinical trials. The present study explored antihyperglycemic action of scopoletin in high-fructose high-fat diet (HFHFD)–induced diabetes in rats. The animal study was performed using 48 rats, 6 in each group. HFHFD was administered for model induction for 74 days. Rats in Group I (normal control [NC]) and group II (experimental control [EC]) received normal saline and HFHFD, respectively, throughout the study. Groups III, IV, V, and VI received oral scopoletin (1 mg/kg [low dose, LD], 5 mg/kg [medium dose, MD], 10 mg/kg [high dose, HD]), and metformin (250 mg/kg; positive control [PC] for efficacy), respectively, once daily from day 60 to 74, in addition to HFHFD. Group VII (10 mg/kg oral scopoletin safety group) and VIII (0.1 mg/kg oral warfarin; PC for safety) were separately used for bleeding time-clotting time (BTCT) assessment on days 60, 68, and 74. Groups I, VII, and VIII rats were studied for safety assessment. Later, animals were sacrificed for histological examination. Scopoletin-treated groups showed a significant decline in glucose levels, especially in the MD (5.18 ± 0.12) and HD group (5.271 ± 0.11) in comparison to the EC (6.37 ± 0.05) on day 74 (P < .05). Two weeks after scopoletin treatment, β-cell function significantly improved (53.073 ± 4.67) in the MD group versus 29.323 ± 8.505 in the NC group (P < .05). A statistically significant difference was observed when the MD group (53.07 ± 4.67) was compared to the metformin-treated group (24.80 ± 3.24; P < .05). The safety assessment in the form of BTCT findings did not observe a difference among groups I, VII, and VIII (P > .05). The study showed that scopoletin dose-independently reversed insulin resistance. Consequently, scopoletin can be a potential candidate for antidiabetic drug development.
