      • THE DECISION TO WITHDRAW FROM THE TPP OF THE UNITED STATES AND THE EFFECT TO THE VIETNAMESE ECONOMY

        The TPP is considered to be the largest Free Trade Agreement all over the world. This agreement has been negotiated from April, 2010, including 12 countries: Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, United Stated of American and Vietnam. The issues covered by the agreement include intellectual property rights, foreign investment law, environmental and labor standards, purchasing policies, competition and state-owned companies, dispute resolution procedures. Previous trade agreements often focused on tax reduction, however, TPP is considered to be the comprehensive trade agreement aimed at establishing a high standard of trade rules that addresses the problems of the global economy in the 21<SUP>st</SUP> century, therefore, it helps to promote growth and employment in Asia-Pacific countries. On January, 1st, 2017, Donal Trump – the president of US signed the law to withdraw from The Pacific Partnership agreement (TPP). This new multilateral free trade, which is considered as the framework to form the trade liberalization of the world in the future is facing the risk to be failed even when it has not come into force. Vietnam has officially signed to joy in the TPP on February 4<SUP>th</SUP>, 2016 and prepared to perform under the agreement, therefore it will be enfluenced under this decision of US. This essay is to be annalized the impacts of the event US withdrew from the TPP to the economy of Vietnam, as well as to assess the extent of the impact of this event to Vietnam if the TPP does not exist. On that basis, the author give some recommendation to strengthen the international economic integration of Vietnam under the uncertainty of TPP in the future.

        암모니아 부하에 따른 프로피온산 중온 혐기성 소화 미생물 군집 변동 조사

        The present study investigated the effect of ammonia load on microbial communities in mesophilic anaerobic digestion of propionic acid. A laboratory-scale continuous anaerobic digester treating propionic acid as a sole organic substrate was operated under non-inhibitory condition and inhibitory conditions with ammonia (1.5 g and 3.5 g ammonia-N/L, respectively), and bacterial and archaeal communities in the steady states of each ammonia condition were analyzed using high-throughput sequencing. Thirteen bacterial families were detected as abundant bacterial groups in mesophilic anaerobic digestion of propionic acid. Increase in ammonia concentration resulted in significant shifts in microbial community structures. Syntorophobacter, Pelotomaculum, and Thermovigra were determined as the dominant groups of (potential) propionate oxidizing bacteria in the non-inhibitory condition, whereas Cryptanaerobacter and Aminobacterium were the dominant groups of (potential) propionate oxidizing bacteria in the ammonia-inhibitory condition. Methanoculleus and Methanosaeta were the dominant methanogens. Acetate-oxidation coupled with hydrogenotrophic methanogenesis might be enhanced with increases in the relative abundances of Methanoculleus and Tepidanaerobacter acetatoxydans under the ammonia-inhibitory condition. The results of the present study could be a valuable reference for microbial management of anaerobic digestion systems that are exposed to ammonia inhibition and propionic acid accumulation.

        New Records of Marine Algae in Vietnam

        In May, 2013, a scientific expedition was organized by the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (FEBRAS) through the frame of the VAST-FEBRAS International Collaboration Program. The expedition went along the coast of Vietnam from Quang Ninh to Kien Giang. The objective was to collect natural resources to investigate the biological and biochemical diversity of the territorial waters of Vietnam. Among the collected algae, six taxa are new records for the Vietnam algal flora. They are the red algae Titanophora pikeana (Dickie) Feldmann from Cu Lao Xanh Island, Laurencia natalensis Kylin from Tho Chu Island, Coelothrix irregularis (Harvey) Børgesen from Con Dao Island, the green algae Caulerpa oligophylla Montagne, Caulerpa andamanensis (W.R. Taylor) Draisma, Prudhomme et Sauvage from Phu Quy Island, and Caulerpa falcifolia Harvey & Bailey from Ly Son Island. The seaweed flora of Vietnam now counts 833 marine algal taxa, including 415 Rhodophyta, 147 Phaeophyceae, 183 Chlorophyta, and 88 Cyanobacteria.

        열-알칼리성 전처리에 따른 폴리하이드록시부티레이트의 혐기성 소화 개선 효과 조사

        In this study, the effect of different reaction times for thermal-alkaline pretreatment on the solubilization and biogasification of polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) were evaluated. Thermal-alkaline pretreatment tests were performed at 73 °C and pH 13 at 0-120 h reaction times. The mesophilic anaerobic batch tests were performed with untreated and pretreated PHB samples. The increase in the pretreatment reaction time results in a 52.8-98.8% increase of the abiotic solubilization efficiency of the PHB samples. The reaction time required to achieve solubilization efficiencies of 50%, 90%, and 95% were 10.5, 52.0, and 89.6 h, respectively. The biogasification of the untreated PHB samples achieved a specific methane production rate of 3.6 mL CH4/g VSS/d and require 101.3 d for complete biogasification. The thermal-alkaline pretreatment significantly improved specific methane production rate (10.2-16.0 time increase), lag time (shortened by 76-81%), and time for complete biogasification (shortened by 21-83%) for the biogasification of the PHB samples when compared to those of the untreated PHB samples. The improvement was higher as the reaction time of the thermal-alkaline pretreatment increased. The findings of this study could be used as a valuable reference for the optimization of the biogasification process in the treatment of PHB wastes.

      • Effects of <i>Sparassis crispa</i> in Medical Therapeutics: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

        <P>In this study, we investigated the therapeutic potential and medical applications of <I>Sparassis crispa</I> (<I>S. crispa</I>) by conducting a systematic review of the existing literature and performing a meta-analysis. The original efficacy treatment of the mushroom extract is considered primarily and searched in electronic databases. A total of 623 articles were assessed, 33 randomized controlled experiments were included after the manual screening, and some papers, review articles, or editorials that did not contain data were excluded. A comparative standard means difference (SMD) and a funnel plot between control and <I>S. crispa</I> groups were used as parameters to demonstrate the beneficial effects of <I>S. crispa</I> for diabetes and cancer treatment, as well as anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and antioxidant activities. The meta-analysis was carried out using Review Manager 5.1 software. Although for therapeutic diabetes there was heterogeneity in the subgroup analysis (I<SUP>2</SUP> = 91.9%), the overall results showed statistically significant SMDs in major symptoms that decreased serum insulin levels (SMD = 1.92, 95% CI (1.10, 2.75), I<SUP>2</SUP> = 0%), wound rates (SMD = 3.55 (2.56, 4.54), I<SUP>2</SUP> = 40%) and contributions to an increase in nutrient intake content (SMD = 0.32 (−0.15, 0.78), I<SUP>2</SUP> = 0%). Simultaneously, the study confirmed the utility of <I>S. crispa</I> treatment in terms of not only anti-cancer activity (reduction of tumor activity and survival of cancer cells I<SUP>2</SUP> = 42 and 34%, respectively) but also anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and antioxidant activities (I<SUP>2</SUP> = 50, 44, and 10%, respectively). Our findings suggest that <I>S. crispa</I> extracts are useful for prevention and treatment of human diseases and might be the best candidates for future medicines.</P>

      • Taxonomic Notes of Moths (Lepidoptera) in the North Vietnam

        In Vietnam, the moths were reported by some foreign entomologist such as de Joannis (1900), Ronkay (1989), Speidel & Kononenko (1998), Park et al. (2006), and Lien et al. (2008). In 1928 -1929 de Joannis created the original data of moths. His final reports on Lepidoptera were 45 families, 611 species of Noctuidae, and 461 species of Pyralidae. After the Vietnam War in North (1954), many times were collected in North Vietnam by National Institute of Plant Protection (NIPP). But all of them focused on fauna of the agricultural pests. According to the publication of NIPP (1967-1968), 533 species of 37 families of which there were 91 species of Noctuidae in the North Vietnam and some other moths known as the insect pests have been reported. In 1977 there were 77 species of Pyralidae known as the insect pests in the North Vietnam. The purpose of this study is to assess diversity of Lepidoptera order and to clarify the fauna in the Northern part of Vietnam, base on the Korea Vietnam collaborative insect-research project (2004-2006). The collecting have been conducted in four National Parks (Tam Dao, Cuc Phuong, Ba Be, and Bach Ma) Given results of the survey in the North of Vietnam from 2002 to 2006, 816 species of Lepidoptera classified by 4 families; Noctuidae (564 species), Pyraloidae (201 species), Sphingidae (28 species), and Lecithoceridae (23 species). Many of the identified species of macro-moths including Noctuidae, Pyraloidae and Lecithoceridae are known as the very newest one in Vietnam.

        Understanding the COVID-19 Infodemic: Analyzing User-Generated Online Information During a COVID-19 Outbreak in Vietnam

        Objectives: Online misinformation has reached unprecedented levels during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study analyzed the magnitude and sentiment dynamics of misinformation and unverified information about public health interventions during a COVID-19 outbreak in Da Nang, Vietnam, between July and September 2020. Methods: We analyzed user-generated online information about five public health interventions during the Da Nang outbreak. We compared the volume, source, sentiment polarity, and engagements of online posts before, during, and after the outbreak using negative binomial and logistic regression, and assessed the content validity of the 500 most influential posts. Results: Most of the 54,528 online posts included were generated during the outbreak (n = 46,035; 84.42%) and by online newspapers (n = 32,034; 58.75%). Among the 500 most influential posts, 316 (63.20%) contained genuine information, 10 (2.00%) contained misinformation, 152 (30.40%) were non-factual opinions, and 22 (4.40%) contained unverifiable information. All misinformation posts were made during the outbreak, mostly on social media, and were predominantly negative. Higher levels of engagement were observed for information that was unverifiable (incidence relative risk [IRR] = 2.83; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.33–0.62), posted during the outbreak (before: IRR = 0.15; 95% CI, 0.07–0.35; after: IRR = 0.46; 95% CI, 0.34-0.63), and with negative sentiment (IRR = 1.84; 95% CI, 1.23–2.75). Negatively toned posts were more likely to be misinformation (odds ratio [OR] = 9.59; 95% CI, 1.20–76.70) or unverified (OR = 5.03; 95% CI, 1.66–15.24). Conclusions: Misinformation and unverified information during the outbreak showed clustering, with social media being particularly affected. This indepth assessment demonstrates the value of analyzing online “infodemics” to inform public health responses.

      • Improved Stability and Control Analysis Process for Detailed Design Stage of Light Aircraft

        The improved stability and control (S&C) analysis process is developed and presented using wind tunnel test data to investigate the stability and control characteristics of a light aircraft complied with the KAS – VLA subpart B regulations and design requirements at detailed design stage. The enhanced stability and control analysis disciplines are developed for the corresponding KAS – VLA regulations and design requirements to use wind tunnel (W/T) test data, weight and propulsion data in order to improve the reliability of stability and control analysis results. In this study, the improved S&C process is applied for detailed design stage of light aircraft and complied with KAS – VLA to demonstrate the efficiency of the process.
