Arthroscopy for Treating Osteochondroma of Distal Radius in 68 Thoroughbred Horses
송민근,Masaaki Tagami,Fumiki kato,Tsukasa Suzuki,Takashi Yamaga,강태영,서종필 한국임상수의학회 2018 한국임상수의학회지 Vol.35 No.3
Osteochondroma (OC) is a cartilage-capped exostosis. In horses, OC commonly develops on the caudaldistal metaphysis of the radius (CDMR). The purpose of study was to describe the outcomes of arthroscopy for thetreatment of OC on CDMR. Diagnosis was based on clinical signs (lameness and distention of carpal sheath),radiography (location and size of OC), and ultrasonography (location of OC, torn deep digital flexor tendon, fibrin, and effusion of carpal sheath). Arthroscopy was performed on 68 Thoroughbred horses with OC on CDMR. Sixtyof the 68 cases showed deep digital flexor tendinitis as a result of sharp protuberances of the OC. All horses survived, and 62 of the 68 cases returned to athletic function (racing) after arthroscopy. The present study demonstrated thatarthroscopy is useful for treating OC of CDMR in horses.
A note on degrees of twisted Alexander polynomials II
Takayuki Morifuji,Masaaki Suzuki 대한수학회 2013 대한수학회보 Vol.50 No.3
In this short note we discuss degrees of twisted Alexander polynomials and demonstrate an explicit example of a closed 3-manifold which is related to the degree formula due to Friedl, Kim and Kitayama.

Objective: To test the concept of taxane sequencing, this feasibility trial evaluated maintenance of docetaxel after paclitaxel and carboplatin combination chemotherapy in patients with stage IC-IV ovarian cancer. Methods: All patients received debulking surgery followed by paclitaxel and carboplatin chemotherapy. Attainment of clinically defined complete or partial response was confirmed by image scanning. Maintenance of docetaxel started at an initial dose of 70 mg/m2 every 4 weeks for 6 cycles and was extended to 10 cycles unless disease progression and/or recurrence during the protocol therapy or unacceptable toxicities were seen. Results: Stage subsets in 20 eligible patients were as follows: IIIB, 2 patients (10%); IIIC, 13 patients (65%); IV, 5 patients (25%). Neutropenia was common (40% with grade 3 or 4) and was most frequent during first or second cycle although the disabling peripheral neuropathy was not observed. Twelve patients completed protocol therapy (6≤cycles), while 8 patients failed to complete 6-cycle chemotherapy, because of progressive disease (5 patients) or grade 4 toxicities (3 patients). Median PFS was 20 months and 3-year PFS rate was 12%. Median overall survival was 39 months and 3-year OS rate was 69%. Conclusion: Six cycles of single-agent docetaxel maintenance chemotherapy is feasible and generally tolerable to women with advanced ovarian cancer who attained a clinically defined response to initial paclitaxel and carboplatin based chemotherapy.
Monodromy Maps of Fibered 2-Bridge Knots as Elements in Automorphism Groups of Free Groups
Goda, Hiroshi,Suzuki, Masaaki Department of Mathematics 2016 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.56 No.3
In this note, we study a monodromy map of a fibered 2-bridge knot. We show the monodromy map of a fibered 2-bridge knot as an element in the automorphism group of a free group.
Representations of the Braid Group and Punctured Torus Bundles
Morifuji, Takayuki,Suzuki, Masaaki Department of Mathematics 2009 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.49 No.1
In this short note, we consider a family of linear representations of the braid group and the fundamental group of a punctured torus bundle over the circle. We construct an irreducible (special) unitary representation of the fundamental group of a closed 3-manifold obtained by the Dehn filling.

While their distinct diatropic ring currents and four reversible reduction waves characteristic of aromatic [26]hexaphyrins indicate that the [26]hexaphyrin aromatic circuits are viable, the absorption spectra and excited state dynamics are significantly perturbed, which becomes increasingly evident with elongation of the oligothienyl substituents. DFT calculations of these hexaphyrins indicated that the LUMO and LUMO + 1 are localised on the hexaphyrin circuit and the HOMO and HOMO – 1 are spread over the acyclic helix-like conjugation network, which can explain the perturbed absorption spectra.</P></▼2>

Isotope ratio analysis of nuclear materials in individual particles is of great importance for nuclear safeguards. Although secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) and thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) are utilized for the analysis of individual uranium particles, few studies were conducted for the analysis of individual uranium-plutonium mixed oxide particles. In this study, we applied SIMS and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) to the isotope ratio analysis of individual U-Pu mixed oxide particles. In the analysis of individual U-Pu particles prepared from mixed solution of uranium and plutonium standard reference materials, accurate 235U/238U, 240Pu/239Pu and 242Pu/239Pu isotope ratios were obtained with both methods. However, accurate analysis of 241Pu/239Pu isotope ratio was impossible, due to the interference of the 241Am peak to the 241Pu peak. In addition, it was indicated that the interference of the 238UH peak to the 239Pu peak has a possibility to prevent accurate analysis of plutonium isotope ratios. These problems would be avoided by a combination of ICP-MS and chemical separation of uranium, plutonium and americium in individual U-Pu particles.
