Vol.24 No.3
This collaborative autoethnography delves into the educational experiences of three master’s students majoring in Anthropology of Education. We, as researcher-participants, utilized our self-narratives and collaborative in-depth interviews to shed light on the complexities of becoming full-time graduate students. Our qualitative investigation showed that all three of us had experienced instances of educational inequality in and out of secondary schools. Those negative experiences were followed by academic curiosity, which in turn led to our aspirations to explore the root causes, processes, and solutions of the educational inequality after entering college. Also, using the metaphors of “street smart,” “volunteer,” and “megaphone” our narratives represent the desire to create specific types of identity while studying in graduate school. However, various challenges that had risen from our in-between position as students and professionals resulted in the complexity of constructing our imagined futures. Exploring the educational experiences of three graduate students through collaborative autoethnography, we found out a broader social context with regard to the hardships that Korean graduate students are facing. Specifically, the professional identity of graduate students is hardly recognized and most students are having difficulties in looking for employment after graduation. Based on these findings from our work, suggestions are provided for future research to examine the identity formation of diverse full-time graduate students in Korea considering the current higher education environment.

Purpose: This study is a descriptive research study intended to confirm the effect of COVID-19 related efficacy of infection prevention activity, fear, and crisis communication skills on the importance of newly infectious dis-ease response capability of the nursing students. Method: The subjects were 266 3rd and 4th year students enrolled in the Department of Nursing at a univer-sity located in City I of Province J. The data collection was conducted from June 14 to June 27, 2020, and the data analysis method was the SPSS/WIN 23.0 using frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation, Independ-ent t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and the multiple regression analysis was per-formed. Results: As a result of this study, the importance of newly infectious disease response capability turned out to have a statistically significant positive correlation with the efficacy of infection prevention activity, fear, and crisis communication skills. The importance of newly infectious disease response capability included the efficacy of infection prevention activity(β=.365, p<.001), crisis communication skills(β=.212, p<.001), and fear(β=.130, p<.001) .045), while the explanatory power was 30.0%. Conclusion: This study confirmed that the nursing students' COVID-19 related efficacy of infection prevention activity, fear, and crisis communication skills were the factors influencing the importance of newly infectious disease response capability related to COVID-19. Among which, it is necessary to develop an infection prevention activity support program to strengthen the efficacy of infection prevention activity yielding the largest impact.
Generalized nonlinear percentile regression using asymmetric maximum likelihood estimation
Lee, Juhee,Kim, Young Min The Korean Statistical Society 2021 Communications for statistical applications and me Vol.28 No.6
An asymmetric least squares estimation method has been employed to estimate linear models for percentile regression. An asymmetric maximum likelihood estimation (AMLE) has been developed for the estimation of Poisson percentile linear models. In this study, we propose generalized nonlinear percentile regression using the AMLE, and the use of the parametric bootstrap method to obtain confidence intervals for the estimates of parameters of interest and smoothing functions of estimates. We consider three conditional distributions of response variables given covariates such as normal, exponential, and Poisson for three mean functions with one linear and two nonlinear models in the simulation studies. The proposed method provides reasonable estimates and confidence interval estimates of parameters, and comparable Monte Carlo asymptotic performance along with the sample size and quantiles. We illustrate applications of the proposed method using real-life data from chemical and radiation epidemiological studies.

Recent attempts to employ colloidal semiconductor nano crystals (NCs) as the sensitizing materials for hybrid NC graphene phototransistors have provided a new effective photosensing platform. However, most of these devices are based on NCs containing either lead or cadmium, which would not be the most preferred material candidates for commercialization. Here, we demonstrate the use of colloidal Cu2-xSe NCs that do not contain lead or cadmium as the sensitizers for NCs graphene hybrid visible phototransistors. Because the long olyelamine ligands originally attached on Cu2-xSe NCs are known to impede electronic process between NCs and graphene, the long ligands are replaced with short amines including octylamine, hexylamine, and butylamine. It is found that the NCs layer with shorter amine ligands yields a more prominent n-doping effect on graphene under illumination, which results in a systematic negative shift in Dirac voltage. More importantly, this leads to devices with larger photocurrent and larger light responsivity. Consequently, from Cu2-xSe NC graphene hybrid phototransistors attached with butylamine ligands, responsivity as high as 2600 A/W and photocurrent gain as high as 36 000 are achieved at an optical power of 5 X 10(-8) W, which are expected be even larger at lower optical powers.

Trans fat is a unsaturated fatty acid with trans configuration and separated double bonds. Analytical methods have been introduced to analyze trans fat content in foods including infrared (IR) spectroscopy, gas chromatography (GC), Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, reverses-phase silver ion high performance liquid chromatography, and silver nitrate thin layer chromatography. Currently, FT-IR spectroscopy and GC are mostly used methods. Trans fat content in 6 vegetable oils were analyzed and processing effects including baking, stir-frying, pan-frying, and frying on the formation of trans fat in corn oil was evaluated by GC. Among tested vegetable oils, corn oil has 0.25 g trans fat/100 g, whereas other oils including rapeseed, soybean, olive, perilla, and sesame oils did not have detectable amount of trans fat content. Among cooking methods, stir-frying increased trans fat in corn oil whereas baking, pan-frying, and frying procedures did not make changes in trans fat content compared to untreated corn oils. However, the trans fat content was so low and food label can be declared as ‘0’ trans based on the regulation of Ministry of Food ad Drug Safety (MFDS) (< 2 g/100 g edible oil).
A Bayesian approach with propensity scores for prediction of unknown responses
Juhee Lee,Eun Jin Jang,Dal Ho Kim 한국데이터정보과학회 2021 한국데이터정보과학회지 Vol.32 No.6
A non-probability sample is a sample in which the probability of selection is unknown, and not all individual in the population has a chance of being selected. Since non-probability sampling does not require a survey frame, it is a fast, inexpensive, and comfortable way of obtaining data. However, using the non-probability samples can be risky because they may obtain several kinds of biases, such as frame coverage bias, selection bias, and non-response. In order to solve these problems, we suggest the method for the prediction of unknown responses. We apply the Bayesian hierarchical model for analyzing the probability of selection and use the Metropolis-Hastings sampler and Laplace approximation. We predict the response of non-sampled groups using Bayesian bootstrap in simulation data and the bone mineral density data in NHANES III.
