LE, Thi Thuy Hang,LE, Trung Dao,TRAN, Thi Dien,DUONG, Quynh Nga,DAO, Le Kieu Oanh,DO, Thi Thanh Nhan Korea Distribution Science Association 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.3
The Vietnamese economy is a developing country that has brought many opportunities and challenges for the banking system. Commercial banks have developed strongly from quality to quantity, which plays a vital role in developing the economy. They play an important role in capital formation, which is essential for the economic development of a country. They provide financial services to the general public and businesses, ensuring economic and social stability and sustainable growth of the economy. Therefore, the relationship between bank depth and economic growth is of importance in research. This paper used a VAR (Vector Autoregressive Models) estimator for time series data models. The data is collected quarterly from the first quarter of the year 2000 to 2020. The study uses the VAR model to examine the causal relationships of economic growth, growth in money supply expansion, private sector capital requirement, and banks' domestic credit. The results indicate a general short-run relationship between banking sector depth and economic growth with a positive connection, but in the long term, the relationship between these variables can be reversed because of other macro factors. The findings show the two-way causal relationship between GDP growth and banking depth factors. This research contributes to policy-making by underlining the banking sector depth determinants when setting regulations and policies to develop the banking sector.

Energy expenditure and energy intake need to be balanced to maintain proper energy homeostasis. Energy homeostasis is tightly regulated by the central nervous system, and the hypothalamus is the primary center for the regulation of energy balance. The hypothalamus exerts its effect through both humoral and neuronal mechanisms, and each hypothalamic area has a distinct role in the regulation of energy expenditure. Recent studies have advanced the understanding of the molecular regulation of energy expenditure and thermogenesis in the hypothalamus with targeted manipulation techniques of the mouse genome and neuronal function. In this review, we elucidate recent progress in understanding the mechanism of how the hypothalamus affects basal metabolism, modulates physical activity, and adapts to environmental temperature and food intake changes.

The goal of this study was to develop an adsorptive membrane based on electrospun graphene oxide/poly(vinylidene) fluoride fiber mat coated with chitosan (GO-PVDF/CS composite membrane) which can potentially be used to remove Mn2+ from aqueous solutions by a continuous filtration process. This composite membrane was composed of two layers: the first layer was the electrospun PVDF fiber mat containing GO, supporting mechanical strength, improving hydrophilicity, and providing adsorptive sites; the second layer was a thin CS film coated on top of the first layer with the aim of significantly enhancing hydrophilicity and adsorption capacity of the composite membrane. The hydrophilicity and porosity of the GO-PVDF/CS composite membrane depended on the concentration of the CS solution, subsequently affecting the Mn2+ removal efficiency of the membrane. The GO-PVDF/CS membrane achieved the maximum Mn2+ removal efficiency of 90.7 wt% by a continuous flow filtration process with a flux of 157.3 L.m-2.h-1.bar-1. The GO-PVDF/CS membrane was able to decrease the concentration of Mn2+ from 5.72 to 0.38 mg/L in the groundwater-contaminated Mn2+ after two filtration processes, reaching the notification level of Mn2+ for drinking water that was allowed by several countries. Therefore, the GO-PVDF/CS membrane can be an effective adsorptive filtration membrane used to remove Mn2+ from groundwater.

This study aimed at elucidating the present situation of scholarly journals published in Vietnam according to the minimum criteria to be indexed in the ASEAN Citation Index (ACI) and Scopus, with the goal of suggesting development strategies for scholarly journals in Vietnam. From the 387 journals accredited by the Vietnamese State Council for Professorship, 13 education journals were arbitrarily selected, and their compliance with the five minimum criteria for the ACI (peer review, timeliness, abstracts in English, references in Roman script, and a website in English) and the six minimum criteria for Scopus (peer review, timeline, abstracts in English, references in Roman characters, Electronic International Standard Serial Number [ISSN], and publication ethics) were assessed. Two of the 13 journals were eligible to be indexed in the ACI, while none fulfilled the minimum criteria to be indexed in Scopus. An urgent task for the editors of those journals is to establish an informative journal homepage in English that provides basic information on the journal. Then, an Electronic ISSN can be obtained from the ISSN International Center. Furthermore, the following steps are suggested for journal promotion: establishment of appropriate editorial policies and publication ethics procedures, improvement of research integrity, enhancement of the journals’ reputation in the international scientific community, and improvement of the online publishing system by adopting a journal manuscript management system. To achieve those goals, financial support from the Vietnamese government will be invaluable.

Backgrounds/Aims: Hepatolithiasis and choledocholithiasis are frequent pathologies and unfortunately, with the current treatment strategies, the recurrence incidence is still high. This study aimed to assess the outcomes of laparoscopic choledochotomy using cholangioscopy via the percutaneous-choledochal tube for the treatment of hepatolithiasis and choledocholithiasis in Vietnamese patients. Methods: A cross-sectional study of patients with hepatolithiasis and/or choledocholithiasis who underwent laparoscopic choledochotomy using intraoperative cholangioscopy via percutaneous-choledochal tube at the Department of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery, 108 Military Central Hospital, from June 2017 to March 2020. Results: A total of 84 patients were analyzed. Most patients were females (56.0%) with a median age of 55.56 years. Among them, 41.8% of patients had previous abdominal operations, with 33.4% having choledochotomy. All patients underwent successful laparoscopic common bile duct exploration followed by T-tube drainage without needing to convert to open surgery. Most patients (64.3%) had both intrahepatic and extrahepatic stones. The rate of stones ≥ 10 mm in diameter was 64.3%. Biliary strictures were observed in 19.1% of patients during cholangioscopy. Complete removal of stones was achieved in 54.8% of patients. Intraoperative complications were encountered in two patients, but there was no need to change the strategy. The mean operating time was 121.85 ± 30.47 minutes. The early postoperative complication rate was 9.6%, and all patients were managed conservatively. The residual stones were removed through the T-tube tract by subsequent choledochoscopy in 34/38 patients, so the total success rate was 95.2%. Conclusions: Laparoscopic choledochotomy combined with cholangioscopy through the percutaneous-choledochal tube is a safe and effective strategy for hepatolithiasis and/or choledocholithiasis, even in patients with a previous choledochotomy.

In vitro conservation is one of the most effective strategies for rare plant protection, especially for orchid species. To maximize the success rates of in vitro explant establishment (stage I) in conservation programs, the application of tissue culture additives such as Plant Preservative MixtureTM (PPMTM) should be emphasized. In this study, we used Dendrobium thyrsiflorum Rchb.f. (1875) seeds and seedlings as a model for the evaluation of PPMTM's phytotoxicity in the meristematic tissues of epiphytic orchids. PPMTM had no observable inhibitory effect on protocorm, shoot, or root development when it was supplemented at 0.1%. PPMTM supplementation caused adverse effects on D. thyrsiflorum explants at concentrations > 0.2%. At high concentrations, young in vitro seedlings showed damage, especially at the root tissue level. Based on this model, supplementation of 0.1-0.2% PPMTM to culture media was successfully implemented to establish in vitro cultures of other rare orchid species in our conservation program.

This work addresses a process parameter-based optimization of the electrical discharge drilling (EDD) of the hole to decrease the specific drilling energy (SDE), the dilation of the hole (DH), and the tapper ratio (TR). The input parameters are the applied current (AC), pulse on time (TON), pulse off time (TOFF), discharge voltage (VO), gap voltage adjustor (GAP), capacitance parallel connection (CAP), and servo sensitivity selection (SV). The adaptive neuro based-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS)-based models were proposed to render the relations between the process parameters and EDD performances. The weights between multi-responses are determined using the entropy method. The optimum factors were obtained by the neighborhood cultivation genetic algorithm (NCGA). The findings revealed that the proposed ANFIS models employing gaussmf membership function may help to minimize the predictive error. The optimal values of the AC, TON, TOFF, VO, GAP, CAP, and SV are 5 A, 60 μs, 50 μs, 60 V, 6, 7, and 7, respectively. The SDE, DH, and TR are reduced by 10.13%, 34.46%, and 11.63%, respectively, as compared to initial values. Moreover, a hybrid approach using the ANFIS model, entropy method, and NCGA is a prominent technique for modeling and optimizing different EDD processes.
Maneuvering flight of beetle (Allomyrina Dichotoma)
Trung-Hieu Tran,Tien Van Truong,Tuyen Quang Le,Hoon Cheol Park,Doyoung Byun 한국항공우주학회 2009 한국항공우주학회 학술발표회 논문집 Vol.2009 No.11
Maneuvering flight has been recognized as an important characteristic of insects and animals where these species frequently use. Here we investigate kinematics and role of flexibility of hind wing of Allomyrina Dichtoma in which body and wing kinematics were reconstructed into three?dimensional through DLT method. Result shows that a flexibility of hind wing can increase performance significantly in turning and stability control of beetle especially in supination and pronation phases. In the downstroke phase, hindwing has positive wing camber, inversely, it is passive deformed into negative wing camber in chordwise as well as in span wise direction at begin of upstroke. These mechanisms can create a large variant of force and moment In magnitude and direction which can change direction and altitude of beetle in maneuvering.
