Unsteady-state temperature distributions and thermal deformations in high speed spindle are studied. For the analysis, three dimensional model is built considering heat transfer characteristics such as natural and forced convection coefficients Temperature distributions and thermal deformations are analyzed by using the finite element method. Results of analysis are compared with the measured data.

This study, an analysis of the theses of the nursing science related to the family of handicapped children of the nation, is to analyze 24 pieces of theses in the science of nursing, from 1970 to December, 2000, to find the present state of nursing study related to the family of handicapped children up to date and to be sought the direction In the future. The results of the analysis is as follows; 1.The theses related to the family of handicapped children reach 24 pieces, 14 pieces of maters' theses(58.3%) and 10 of doctoral theses(41.7%). The period between 1995 and 1999 has most fruitful studies, 10 theses(41.7%). 2. For a methodology, 19 theses(79.2%) is covered by quantitative study, while 5 theses by qualitative study, all of them being doctoral thesis, disclosed since 1990. 3. For the level of theory, 10 theses fall within factor-related study, while qualitative study, situation-related, and situation generating studies is 5, 3, and 2 theses respectively, which are among doctoral theses. For a main concept, it shows mothers' stress-related concept, family adaption-related concept, and mothers' experience to be most frequently studied. Each of them is 5 respectively. 4. For a study design, experimental studies are 2 and non-experimental 17, of quantitative studies. Correlation studies reach 10, while of qualitative studies, 4 pieces are phenomenal studies. 5. As a subject, it finds to be most frequent theses using with mothers, 13 studies(54.1%). 6. For a measurement tool, it totals 43, most of them translated from foreign tools. Various tools were used and the measurement tool related to family were used most frequently. 7. Correlation theses reach 10, studying the correlation between the concept of family adaptation, countermove, stress and social support, and many factors. 8. It shows comparative studies to be 2, examining the comparison between handicapped children and normal children and mothers. 9. Experimental studies are 2, identifying the difference according to the nursing intervention of parents training program. 10. It finds 2 studies for model development, both of them to be developed the structure of family adaptation and the standard of social support. 11. There are 5 qualitative studies, most of them examined phenomenally and understood the subject of bringing-up experience. Based of the above results, It would suggest as follows; 1. It requires an understanding through experimental study related to handicapped children and various kinds of qualitative studies. 2. It need to be a diversity of a subject and a diversity of handicap. 3. It requires the development of training program to manage handicapped children. 4. It requires inter-disciplinary studies thereof.

A series of new diarylureas and diarylamides possessing 1,3,4-triarylpyrazole scaffold was synthesized and their in vitro antiproliferative activities against A375P human melanoma cell line and NCI-60 cell line panel were tested. Compounds 9, 11, 12, 14, and 17-21 showed superior potency against A375P to Sorafenib. Over the NCI-60 cancer cell line panel, compound 14 possessing a methoxy group, amide linker, and 4-chloro-3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl terminal ring showed the highest potency and broad-spectrum anticancer activity. Compound 13 showed high selectivity towards leukemia subpanel over other cancer types.

<P>The major objectives of this study were to provide a list of candidate antiaging medicinal herbs that have been widely utilized in Korean medicine and to organize preliminary data for the benefit of experimental and clinical researchers to develop new drug therapies by analyzing previous studies. “<I>Dongeuibogam</I>,” a representative source of the Korean medicine literature, was selected to investigate candidate antiaging medicinal herbs and to identify appropriate terms that describe the specific antiaging effects that these herbs are predicted to elicit. In addition, we aimed to review previous studies that referenced the selected candidate antiaging medicinal herbs. From our chosen source, “<I>Dongeuibogam</I>,” we were able to screen 102 terms describing antiaging effects, which were further classified into 11 subtypes. Ninety-seven candidate antiaging medicinal herbs were selected using the criterion that their antiaging effects were described using the same terms as those employed in “<I>Dongeuibogam</I>.” These candidates were classified into 11 subtypes. Of the 97 candidate antiaging medicinal herbs selected, 47 are widely used by Korean medical doctors in Korea and were selected for further analysis of their antiaging effects. Overall, we found an average of 7.7 previous studies per candidate herb that described their antiaging effects.</P>
Identification of a novel signaling component in phosphate starvation responses from Arabidopsis

Phosphorus is one of the macronutrients essential for plant growth and development, as well as crop productivity. Many soils around the world are deficient in phosphate (Pi) that plants can utilize. To cope with the stress of Pi starvation, plants have evolved many adaptive strategies, such as changes of root architecture and enhanced Pi acquisition form soil. To understand molecular mechanism underlying Pi starvation stress signaling, we characterized the activation-tagged mutant showing altered responses to Pi deficiency compared to wild type Arabidopsis and named hsp3 (hypersensitive to Pi starvation3). hsp3 mutant exhibits enhanced phosphate transporter activity, resulting in higher Pi content than wild type. However, in root architectural change under Pi starvation, hsp3 shows hyposensitive responses than wild type, such as longer primary root elongation, lower lateral root density. Histochemical analysis using hsp3 mutant expressing auxin-responsive DR5::GUS reporter gene, indicated that auxin allocation from primary to lateral roots under Pi starvation is aborted in hsp3 mutant. Molecular genetic analysis of hsp3 mutant revealed that the mutant phenotype is caused by the lesion in ENHANCED SILENCING PHENOTYPE4 (ESP4) gene whose function is proposed in mRNA 3’ end processing. Here, we propose that mRNA processing plays a crucial role in Pi homeostasis in Arabidopsis.
