The molecular epidemiological characteristics of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolates have demonstrated their genetic diversity and evolution. A total of 137 strains of MRSA clinical isolates was collected from Korean healthcare facility in 2007. The MRSA clinical isolates were analyzed by molecular typings (SCCmec element and agr locus typing), virule nce factor gene detections {(Panton-Valentine leukocidin (PVL), enterotoxin, exfoliative toxin and toxic shock syndrome toxin-1), and amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP)}. The MRSA clinical isolates were classified as SCCmec type Ⅱ-agr type 1 (2 strains), type Ⅱ-agr type 2 (79 strains), type Ⅲ-agr type 1 (24 strains), type Ⅲ-agr type 2 (2 strains), type Ⅳ-agr type 1 (27 strains), type Ⅳ-agr type 2 (2 strains), and non-typable (1 strain, agr type 3). Based on SCCmec types, SCCmec type Ⅱ (95.1%) and Ⅲ (88.5%) indicated higher multidrug resistance rate than SCCmec type Ⅳ (10.3%) (P<0.001). The most common enterotoxin genes were seg (83.8%), sei (83.1%), and sec (80.2%). The tst gene was present in 86 out of 137 (62.8%) MRSA isolates. All MRSA isolates were negative for PVL and exfoliative toxin genes. The combinations of toxin genes were observed in particular SCCmec types; 97.6% of SCCmec type Ⅱ strains carried sec, seg, sei and tst genes, 73.0% of SCCmec type Ⅲ strains carried sea gene, and 89.7% of SCCmec type IV strains carried sec, seg and sei genes. Each of the SCCmec types of MRSA isolates had distinct AFLP profile. In conclusion, SCCmec type II, agr type 1 and 2 have demonstrated to be the most common types in Korea, and the results indicated that the virulence factors are closely associated with their molecular types (SCCmec and agr types).
커패시터의 저항(Rs), 용량(Cs) 측정을 통한 전원공급장치의 열화 모니터링

열화 모니터링 기법을 통해 전원공급 시스템을 별도 분리하지 않고 동작 중 실시간으로 열화를 감시하였다. 열화 모니터링은 전압, 전류 파형을 측정하여 저항(Rs) 파라미터를 유추하는 방법으로 수행하였다. 전압, 전류 파형은 커패시터의 충전 순간에 얻어진 데이터이며, ESR = dV / dI, C = dQ / dV 공식에 의해 유도되었다. 신뢰성 시험 전, 후 실제 측정된 값은 각각 시험전 Cs: 213.642 μF Rs: 36.87 mΩ 시험후 Cs: 166.085 μF Rs: 1.22168 Ω이고 모니터링 결과 값은 시험전 Rs: 34.40 mΩ 시험후 Rs: 1.16000 Ω으로 실시간 열화 모니터링이 유효함을 검증하였다.
Development and Assessment of New RT-qPCR Assay for Detection of HIV-1 Subtypes

The measurement of viral load in HIV-1 infected patients is essential for the establishment of a therapeutic strategy. Several commercial assays have shown shortcomings in quantifying rare genotypes of HIV-1 such as minor groups of N and O. In this study, the HIV-1 RT-qPCR assay was developed. The primers and probe of HIV-1 were designed to target the pol gene and to increase the detection efficiency of various subtypes including group N and O. The HIV-1 quantitative RT-qPCR assay was assessed for its analytical performance and clinical evaluation. The LoD was determined to 33.9 IU/ml. The LoD of several subtypes including A, C, D, CRF_01AE, F, CRF_02AG, G and H, were determined to less than 40 IU/ml. The HIV-1 quantitative RT-qPCR assay was evaluated using the China National Reference Panel of HIV-1 RNA to determine the analytical performance. The results were all within the acceptable range. The clinical evaluation was performed at Hunan CDC in China. The clinical evaluation results were compared with those of the China domestic commercial kit. A significant correlation (fresh samples; R<SUP>2</SUP>=0.84, P<0.001, frozen samples; R<SUP>2</SUP>=0.76, P<0.001) between the two systems was observed for 64 fresh samples and 76 frozen samples with viral loads, and the Bland-Altman plot showed good agreement (98.4%, 96.1%, respectively). In conclusion, the HIV-1 quantitative RT-qPCR assay had comparable analytical performance with several commercial kits. The study provides basic data for the research of HIV-1 diagnosis and the development of P<HIV-1 molecular diagnostic assay.
결합계수법을 이용한 3D 구조의 Air Cavity Filter 설계 연구

본 논문은 결합계수법을 이용하여 2.31 – 2.39 GHz 대역 8단 Air Cavity Filter를 설계 및 구현한다. 필터의 요구사항에 부합하기 위하여 3, 6번 공진기 사이에 Capacitive Coupling을 구현하였다. EM 시뮬레이션 결과 대역폭에서 -0.7dB 이상의 삽입 손실과 -20dB 이하의 반사 손실 및 2.3GHz, 2.4GHz에 전송영점이 나타났다.
Kink Effect Free Si ICL based Si3N4 passivation of InP-HEMT by RPECVD

As a promising device for high speed communication, HEMT has got many intention. But, it is long way to field- application of HEMT because of instability of the device. Especially, surface of InP-HEMT (InAlAs) is very unstable and bandgap of InP is narrower than conventional GaAs-HEMT, so kink effect is very severe. Even though high frequency characteristic of InP-HEMT is very execellent<SUP>[1]</SUP>, it is still hard to be used in application. So ICL(Inter Control Layer) based passivation was suggested<SUP>[2]</SUP>. Research for effects of Si based SiN passivation executed for InP-HEMT. It showed that Si ICL based passivation was more effective for reducing surface state.
Performance and reliability of SC-type optical fixed attenuators for optical network system

The void and delamination on the surface of the SC-type optical fixed attenuators under damp heat condition were detected and analyzed. We improved them by modifying cleaning process, housing structures and materials of parts. Then the performance and reliability of old and new models were checked. The results of several environmental tests such as damp heat and mechanical test showed that the improved model had the advantages of production cost and environmental characteristics analyzed by using statistical method such as T-test.

APMIS 2010; 118: 801–8.</P><P>A total of 100 clinical isolates of <I>Escherichia coli</I> (n = 35)<I>, Klebsiella pneumoniae</I> (n = 63)<I>, Proteus mirabilis</I> (n = 1), and Salmonella serovar Stanley (n = 1), showing resistance to cefoxitin, or returning positive in extended-spectrum &bgr;-lactamase (ESBL) by Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) ESBL confirmatory method, were studied. The isolates were examined by the boronic acid (BA) disk test, polymerase chain reaction, and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) to investigate genetic similarities. The concurrence rates for ESBLs by the CLSI and the BA disk test were 97% for <I>E. coli</I> and 96.7% for <I>K. pneumoniae</I>. A total of 41 isolates showing cefoxitin resistance yielded all positive by the BA disk test. All the 33 <I>K. pneumoniae</I> isolates, which showed positive by the BA disk test, were carrying AmpC genes. The TEM and CTX-M types were predominant in <I>E. coli</I> and the SHV and the CIT and/or DHA types were predominant in <I>K. pneumoniae</I>. PFGE analysis showed almost 75% of genetic similarities among <I>K. pneumoniae</I> isolates producing ESBLs and/or AmpC &bgr;-lactamases (AmpCs) as each <I>K. pneumoniae</I> carried variable genes and showed variable antibiotic patterns. Clearly, the BA disk test was a useful method for the detection of ESBLs and AmpCs. In particular, cefoxitin resistance and BA-positive trait of <I>K. pneumoniae</I> do reflect the presence of AmpC genes in the organism.</P>
Reliability Estimation of High-Brightness Ceramic Package LED

We achieved the junction to air thermal resistance as low as 13 [K/W] and the enhanced lifetime (MTTF) estimated over 50,000 hours using a thermal-via structure in LTCC-based LED packages. Exponential decay of brightness in the LED packages was assumed and Arrehenius model as a life-stress model was used to analyze the lifetime of the LED packages.
