Fingerprint patterns of 333 schizophreniacs who met with the diagnostic criterias of International Pilot Study of Schizophrenia except items associated with chronicity in exclusion criteria were studied, and the following results were obtained. 1. The frequency distribution of the fingerprint patterns in the 333 schizophreniacs was ulnar loop, whorl, twinned loop, arch, radial loop in order in both control and schizophrenia groups. 2. Finger ridge counts of both sexes were decreased significantly in schizophrenia group. 3. Dissociation of fingerprint pattern in the schizophrenia group was 51.1%, which was far greater than 6.25% of control group. Number of dissociation was greatest in the thumb, followed by index, middle, ring, and little finger in order. According to the above results, it is considered that both the number of finger ridges and degree of dissociation of fingerprint patterns were closely related with schizophrenia. Analysis of fingerprints and palmprints with the aid of chromosomal analysis would contribute the early diagnosis and prevention of schizophrenia.
터빈 블레이드 회전수 변화와 터빈 블레이드 엣지 형상 변화에 따른 표면 가스온도 분포 해석

터빈 블레이드의 엣지 형상 변화에 따른 표면 가스온도 발달과정에 대해서 전산해석을 수행하였다. Sharp형과 Round형의 터빈 블레이드를 모델링하였으며, 터빈의 회전수는 두 가지 형상 모두 0 ~ 10,000 rpm의 회전 속도를 주어 전산해석을 실시하였다. 터빈의 회전수가 증가할수록 터빈 블레이드 표면의 평균 온도는 하강하였고, Sharp형 엣지 형상이 Round형 엣지 형상에 비해서 터빈 블레이드의 표면 온도 분포가 전반적으로 낮은 분포를 나타내었다. The numerical analysis for gas temperature of turbine blade surface has been performed to investigate development of temperature with various blade edge shape. Two different types of the turbine which one is "Sharp" edge and the other is "Round" edge was modeled. Computations have been carried out several turbine rotational speeds in the range from 0 to 10,000 rpm for the each types of turbine edge shape. As a result, the more rotational speed of turbine increased, the more turbine blade"s temperature decreased. It is also found that the surface temperature of turbine blades for sharp type edge were lower than the round type edge.
Activation of Cabbage Peroxidase by Imidazole at Alkaline pH

Peroxidase(EC 1.11.1.7) from cabbage could be activated by adding various nitrogenous compounds. Among nitrogenous compounds tested, imidazole was the best activator of the enzyme. Imidazole activated the enzyme at alkaline pH, while it had no effect at acidic pH. The optimum concentration of imidazole to stimulate the enzyme was identified as 20 mM. Imidazole seemed to activate the enzyme with anilino substrate such as o-dianisidine, while it had no effect with phenolic substrates such as guaiacol and 4-aminoantipyrine phenol.

Despite the incidence of the out range in biochemical liver function are related with TPN therapy, the etiology and clinical significance remain unclear. Therefore, the identification of factors most predictive of liver abnormality is necessary for the prevention of this complication. A retrospective review was undertaken to determine the incidence rate and risk factors of the liver abnormality secondary to TPN. Medical records of 497 adult patients who had TPN have been reviewed. This study included only 72 patients, who received TPN, and had no underlying hepatobiliary disease. Out range of liver normal function values were detected in 36(50%) of the 72 total adult patients studied. And, there were no significant differences in the initial LFTs between both groups. It shows that patients with increased LFTs received a higher amount of total daily calories/BEE, carbohydrate per weight for minute or protein per weight. They also had a longer duration of TPN, when compared with patients who had normal LFTs during TPN. These results indicated that calories should not be excessive and close monitoring should be required for patients with massive calories.
