Plastic pollution has been recognized as a serious environmental problem, and microbial degradation of plastics is a potential, environmentally friendly solution to this. Here, we analyzed and compared microbial communities on waste plastic films (WPFs) buried for long periods at four landfill sites with those in nearby soils to identify microbes with the potential to degrade plastics. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy spectra of these WPFs showed that most were polyethylene and had signs of oxidation, such as carbon-carbon double bonds, carbon-oxygen single bonds, or hydrogen-oxygen single bonds, but the presence of carbonyl groups was rare. The species richness and diversity of the bacterial and fungal communities on the films were generally lower than those in nearby soils. Principal coordinate analysis of the bacterial and fungal communities showed that their overall structures were determined by their geographical locations; however, the microbial communities on the films were generally different from those in the soils. For the pulled data from the four landfill sites, the relative abundances of Bradyrhizobiaceae, Pseudarthrobacter, Myxococcales, Sphingomonas, and Spartobacteria were higher on films than in soils at the bacterial genus level. At the species level, operational taxonomic units classified as Bradyrhizobiaceae and Pseudarthrobacter in bacteria and Mortierella in fungi were enriched on the films. PICRUSt analysis showed that the predicted functions related to amino acid and carbohydrate metabolism and xenobiotic degradation were more abundant on films than in soils. These results suggest that specific microbial groups were enriched on the WPFs and may be involved in plastic degradation.
A case of sudden blindness caused by brain tumor in a dog

A 11 year-old, female, shih-tzu mixed-breed dog was presents with history of sudden blindness for 2 days. An ophthalmic test was conducted to find the cause of blindness, including an intraocular pressure test, a fundus test, and an electroretinogram. As a result of the test, the abnormality in the eye could not be confirmed, so MRI request was made. MRI confirmed mass areas with 1.0 × 0.5 mm T2W/FLAIR heterogeneous hyperintense, T1W isointense, and enhancement that spread widely from the dorsal part of the sella turcica to the anterior optical chiasm. Cystic lesion was identified in the front of the lesion, and it had the characteristics of an extra-axial tumor such as a broad base attachment surface and a dural tail signal. Based on these tests diagnosed blindness caused by brain tumors. Clinical symptoms began to improve three days after taking chemotherapy, and all clinical symptoms disappeared after a week. This case report demonstrated that clinical sign, diagnostic imaging and successful treatment result with chemotherapy in canine brain tumor patient.
펨토초레이저 상피투과 활모양각막절개 시 절개부 개방이 난시교정에 미치는 영향

목적: 각막난시교정을 위한 펨토초레이저 상피투과 활모양각막절개 시 절개부를 그대로 유지하는 방법에 비해 절개부를 개방하는 방법에서의 난시교정 효과를 살펴보고자 하였다. 대상과 방법: 2016년 4월부터 2018년 12월까지 삼성서울병원 안과에서 펨토초레이저 백내장수술을 받을 환자를 대상으로 후향적으로 조사하였다. 절개부 개방군, 절개부 유지군에 대해 수술 전후로 각막난시의 크기 비교 및 벡터분석을 시행하였다. 결과: 절개부 개방군과 절개부 유지군에서 target induced astigmatism (TIA)가 각각 1.28 ± 0.55, 1.26 ± 0.29디옵터, surgically induced astigmatism (SIA)가 각각 0.80 ± 0.52, 0.53 ± 0.32디옵터, correction index (CI)가 각각 0.63 ± 0.28, 0.43 ± 0.26으로, 절개부 유지군보다 절개부 개방군에서 난시교정 효과가 더 큰 것으로 나타났다(p=0.048, p=0.025). TIA가 1.2디옵터 미만인 하위집단에서는 두 군의 SIA 및 CI가 유의한 차이가 없었으나, TIA가 1.2디옵터 이상인 하위집단에서는 SIA가 절개부 개방군, 유지군에서 각각 1.09 ± 0.59, 0.54 ± 0.37디옵터, CI는 0.60 ± 0.28, 0.36 ± 0.23으로 절개부 개방군에서 난시교정 효과가 큰 것으로 나타났다(p=0.022, p=0.047). 결론: 펨토초레이저 상피투과 활모양각막절개 시 절개부를 개방하는 방식이 절개부를 유지하는 방식보다 더 큰 난시교정 효과를 보였다. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare corneal astigmatism correction between “wound open” and “wound intact” methods during femtosecond laser-assisted transepithelial arcuate keratotomy. Methods: From April 2016 to December 2018, a retrospective survey was conducted on patients undergoing femtosecond laser cataract surgery at the Ophthalmology Department of Samsung Medical Center. Size comparison and vector analysis of corneal astigmatism before and after surgery were performed in the wound open and wound intact groups. Results: In the wound open and wound intact groups, the target-induced astigmatism (TIA) was 1.28 ± 0.55; and 1.26 ± 0.29 diopters, the surgically induced astigmatism (SIA) was 0.80 ± 0.52; and 0.53 ± 0.32 diopters, and the correction index (CI) was 0.63 ± 0.28; and 0.43 ± 0.26, respectively. The astigmatism correction was superior in the wound open group (p = 0.048, p = 0.025). In a subgroup with TIA < 1.2 diopters, there were no significant differences in SIA or CI between the two groups; however, in the subgroup with a TIA > 1.2 diopters, the SIA was 1.09 ± 0.59; and 0.54 ± 0.37 diopters and the CI was 0.60 ± 0.28; and 0.36 ± 0.23 in the wound open and wound intact groups, respectively (p = 0.022, p = 0.047). Thus, astigmatism correction was superior in the wound open group. Conclusions: The wound open method during femtosecond laser-assisted transepithelial arcuate keratotomy was superior for astigmatism correction compared to the wound intact method.

The synthesis and structure-activity relationships of a novel series of substituted quercetins that activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma ($PPAR{\gamma}$) are reported. The $PPAR{\gamma}$ agonistic activity of the most potent compound in this series is comparable to that of the thiazolidinedione-based antidiabetic drugs currently in clinical use.

A 7-year-old dog weighing 3.9 kg visited the hospital with symptoms of inability to stand and quadri-paresis. There were seizure symptoms 2 months before admission to the hospital, and the symptoms of stiffness and rigidity appeared. Radiographs showed normal vertebrae in cervical vertebral col-umn. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) were performed imme-diately to diagnose vertebral lameness. As a result of the CT, it was possible to observe the fracture of the odontoid process of the axis, and the exact location of the damage was identified. The odontoid process was fractured and separated from the body of the 2nd cervical vertebra (axis), and fragment of the process was observed inside the vertebral arch of the first cervical vertebra (atlas), and the body of the axis was lifted to the dorsal side. The MRI examination reflected the CT findings and confirmed severe spinal cord compression due to the fracture of the odontoid process. The patient was applied by neck brace and medical management including Mycophenolate mofetil administration was per-formed. The patient was able to move legs and tail after 2 weeks, and was able to voluntarily defecate, urinate and stand up after 4 weeks of administration.
합성용 데크플레이트를 이용한 합성슬래브의 전단부착강도에 관한 연구

The objective of this study is to investigate the longitudinal shear strength of the composite slabs with the composite metal deckplate. The experiment was done with composite slabs which use the composite deckpalte. This paper compares the most important design methods for composite slabs - the m+k method and the partial connection theory. The partial connection theory has been established by Helmut Bode. 12 specimens(SPI) were tested for the study. And the informations of 2 specimens were used from a previous test. Parameters in the study are the thickness of deckplate(1.2, 1.6㎜), and shear span(L/7, L/3. L/4), shapes of deck plate etc. Based on experimental and analytical study, the longitudinal shear strength in the shear span were developed in this study. The modified formula would be consisted for the longitudinal shear strength.

In this paper, we present our efforts to design and implement Davinici based Smart Network Camera. Smart Network Camera is a network camera with intelligent vision capability such as motion detection, object detection, object tracking, object identification, and behavior analysis from the captured video as well as video compression and transmission of traditional network cameras. Davinci technology is a enabling platform for developing an embedded digital video application system. Currently, we finish to design and implement a first version of a davinci based Smart Network Camera. Final version is under development, and later on, the result and performance analysis will be reported.

This paper proposes control system based on PLC for decrease power loss of solar tracking system. Tracking system is automatically tracked solar position. The power of this tracking system is fed by photovoltaic generation and it has problem efficiency decrease due to consume power of tracking system. Tracking system which controlled individually is brought power consumption due to continually feed power. Central control tracking system using PLC can be reduced power consumption more than individual tracking system because it controls a large number tracking device with one control system. Also, this paper uses two-mode tracking algorithm to improve tracking performance. The proposed algorithm is applied photovoltaic system and analyzed power and efficiency and then proved validity of this paper.
