자발적 웃음과 인위적 웃음 간의 구분: 사람 대 컴퓨터

본 연구에서는 자발적인 웃음과 인위적인 웃음을 변별하는 데 있어서 일반 사람들의 정확도와 컴퓨터를 이용한 분류 알고리즘의 정확도를 비교하였다. 실험참가자들은 단일 영상 판단 과제와 쌍비교 판단과제를 수행하였다. 단일 영상판단 과제는 웃음 영상을 한 장씩 제시하면서 이 영상의 웃음이 자발적인 것인지 인위적인 것인지를 판단하는 것이었으며, 쌍비교 판단과제는 동일한 사람에게서 얻은 두 종류의 웃음 영상을 동시에 제시하면서 자발적인 웃음 영상이 어떤 것인지 판단하는 것이었다. 분류 알고리즘의 정확도를 산출하기 위하여 웃음 영상 각각에서 8 종류의 얼굴 특성치들을 추출하였다. 약 50%의 영상을 사용하여 단계적 선형판별분석을 수행하였으며, 여기서 산출된 판별함수를 이용하여 나머지 영상을 분류하였다. 단일 영상에 대한 판단결과, 단계적 선형판별분석의 정확도가 사람들의 정확도보다 높았다. 쌍비교에 대한 판단결과도 단계적 선형판별분석의 정확도가 사람들의 정확도보다 높았다. 20명의 실험참가자 중 선형판별분석의 정확도를 넘어서는 사람은 없었다. 판별분석에 중요하게 사용된 얼굴 특성치는 눈머리의 각도로, 눈을 가늘게 뜬 정도를 나타낸다. Ekman의 FACS에 따르면, 이 특성치는 AU 6에 해당한다. 사람들의 정확도가 낮은 이유는 두 종류의 웃음을 구별할 때, 눈에 관한 정보를 충분히 사용하지 않았기 때문으로 추론되었다. The study compares accuracies between humans and computer algorithms in the discrimination of spontaneou smiles from posed smiles. For this purpose, subjects performed two tasks, one was judgment with single pictures and the other was judgment with pair comparison. At the task of judgment with single pictures, in which pictures of smiling facial expression were presented one by one, subjects were required to judge whether smiles in the pictures were spontaneous or posed. In the task for judgment with pair comparison, in which two kinds of smiles from one person were presented simultaneously, subjects were to select spontaneous smile. To calculate the discrimination algorithm accuracy, 8 kinds of facial features were used. To calculate the discriminant function, stepwise linear discriminant analysis (SLDA) was performed by using approximately 50 % of pictures, and the rest of pictures were classified by using the calculated discriminant function. In the task of single pictures, the accuracy rate of SLDA was higher than that of humans. In the analysis of accuracy on pair comparison, the accuracy rate of SLDA was also higher than that of humans. Among the 20 subjects, none of them showed the above accuracy rate of SLDA. The facial feature contributed to SLDA effectively was angle of inner eye corner, which was the degree of the openness of the eyes. According to Ekman`s FACS system, this feature corresponds to AU 6. The reason why the humans had low accuracy while classifying two kinds of smiles, it appears that they didn`t use the information coming from the eyes enough.

각종 무기체계에서 소프트웨어(Software, 이하 SW)가 차지하는 비중과 중요도가 날로 증가하고 있다. 운용중인 무기체계에서 다양한 SW 결함이 발생 되어 기술변경이 이뤄지고 있으나, 이를 신규 무기체계 개발단계로의 환류는 제한적으로 이뤄지고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 개발단계 참여자들이 효율적으로 유사 무기체계의 운용단계 SW결함을 식별할 수 있도록 도와줄 수 있는 위험관리맵(Risk Management Map)을 제안한다. 위험관리맵이란 운용중인 무기체계의 SW 기술변경 내용을 데이터베이스로 구축하고, 이를 무기체계별로 시각화한 자료이다. 복잡한 SW결함 분석 내용을 무기체계 및 부체계별로 확인할 수 있도록 도와주며 각각의 SW결함의 위험도를 확인할 수 있다. 이를 통해 SW 비전공자들도 데이터베이스 내용을 쉽게 이해할 수 있고, 개발단계에서부터 SW결함 예방을 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. The utilization of software in weapon systems is steadily increasing. However, software defections commonly occur, and many are caused by engineering changes to these systems. Furthermore, details of these software defections are not effectively fed back to weapon system developers. We addressed this shortcoming by devising a risk management mapping system, based on a database of engineering changes made to operating weapon systems, that provides feedback to those responsible for weapon and sub-weapon system development. The devised mapping system provides a means of better understanding complicated software defects and checking associated risks. We believe that the described risk management map system allows software non-experts to better understand and utilize the software defects database and help prevent software defects during the development phase.
Bioanalytical Application of SERS Immunoassay for Detection of Prostate-Specific Antigen

We demonstrate the possible application of the sandwich type surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) immunoassay using antigen-antibody binding for detection of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in cancer cells. In this sandwich type of SERS immunoassay, to capture antigens onto the immobilized layer of antibodies on the gold substrate we prepared the monolayer of gold nanoparticles on the APTMS-derivatized surface of a glass slide by using the SAM technique. This sandwich type of SERS immunoassay in which antigens on the substrate specifically capture antibodies on a Raman reporter (DSNB coated gold nanoparticles with R6G) could successfully detect PSA at low levels. A strong SERS spectrum of Raman reporter was observed only with a substrate in which PSA is present.
Facial Skin Temperature Change associated with Emotional Dimension

Objective: The purpose of present study was to investigate facial skin temperature change associated with dimension of arousal and valence. Background: Arousal is associated with attention resource allocation. When operator made an error of judgment in industrial setting, it can lead to terrible accident. Because of this, technology might be needed to monitor the operator's level of arousal and valence in real time. Method: Eighty-seven healthy college students participated in the study. They were exposed to a variety of emotional stimuli, and divided 4 groups according to self-reported arousal-valence level: arousal-positive, arousal-negative, relaxpositive, and relax-negative. Facial skin temperature was measured in seven areas: the forehead, the right & left eye, the right & left cheek, the bridge of the nose, and the end of the nose. Result: The findings showed that 4 groups had significant difference in facial skin temperature at the right eye, the bridge of the nose, and the end of the nose. Arousal resulted in increased facial skin temperature at the three facial areas. Valence did not result in constant outcome among facial area. Facial thermal imaging might be suitable for the non-invasive and quick monitoring of emotional state. This facial thermal imaging is expected to monitor the operator's state that operates artifact.

Echinostoma ilocanum Infection in Oddar Meanchey Province, Cambodia

Fecal examinations using the Kato Katz technique were performed on a total of 1,287 villagers (945 students and 342 general inhabitants) of Oddar Meanchey Province, Cambodia in May 2007 and November 2009. The overall intestinal helminth egg positive rate was 23.9%, and the most prevalent helminth species was hookworms (21.6%). Other helminth eggs detected included echinostomes (1.0%), Enterobius vermicularis (0.8%), small trematode eggs (0.7%), which may include Opisthorchis viverrini and Haplorchis spp., and Hymenolepis nana (0.4%). In order to recover adult echinostomes, we treated 2 patients with 10-15 mg/kg praziquantel and purged. Total 14 adult echinostomes, 1 and 13 worms from each patient, were collected. The echinostomes characteristically had 49-51 collar spines and 2 round or slightly lobated testes. They were identified as Echinostoma ilocanum (Garrison, 1908) Odhner, 1911. So far as literature are concerned, this is the first record on the discovery of human E. ilocanum infection in Cambodia.
