( Phan Thi Thu Hien ) 전북대학교 인문학연구소 2014 건지인문학 Vol.11 No.-
Through this survey on Vietnamese students` response to Hallyu, we can understand typical features of Hallyu in Vietnamese youth nowadays. Many of Vietnamese youth love and consume Korean products relating to Hallyu. Hallyu has warious influences on their life, both material and intellectual. Hallyu also contribute much to build friendship between Vietnam and Korea. It`s necessary for Vietnamese and Korean scholars as well as policy-makers to cooperate to use effectively positive impacts of Hallyu to promote Korean Studies in particular, Vietnamese-Korean relationship in general.
The Issue of Healing War Wounds Viewed from Two Sides: Through Korean and Vietnamese Literary Works
PHAN Thi Thu Hien 한국학중앙연구원 한국학중앙연구원 2017 THE REVIEW OF KOREAN STUDIES Vol.20 No.1
Vietnam and Korea established official foreign relations in 1992. For more than 20 years, the Vietnam-Korea cooperation relationship has been ceaselessly developing and now attains a level of “Strategic Partnership.” Looking forward to a happy future, the two nations have to try to close a sad past when more than 320,000 Korean soldiers participated in the American war in Vietnam. Korean and Vietnamese post-war literary works have contributed significantly to building a bridge for the two nations to getting closer, becoming more mutual understanding. This paper focuses on Korean and Vietnamese literary works on war wounds in Vietnam with regard to Korean participation. The issue is approached from thematic criticism and comparative study.

Traditional Chinese medicines have attracted increasing interest as potential sources of novel drugs with a wide range of biological and pharmacological activities. Annona glabra Linn (Annonaceae) is used in traditional medicine as an anticancer drug. Phytochemical investigation of this plant led to the isolation of acetogenins, ent-kauranes, peptides, and alkaloids. In addition, compounds exhibited anticancer, anti-HIV-reserve, and antimalaria.

The dragon is a special imaginary figure created by the people of East Asia. Its archetypes appeared primarily as totemic symbols of different tribes and groups in the region. The formation of early dynasties probably generated the molding of the dragon symbol. Dragon symbols carried deep imprints of nature. They concealed alternative messages of how ancient people at different locations dealt with or interacted with nature. Under pressure to standardize in the medieval and late imperial periods, the popular dragon had to transform physically and ideologically. It became imposed, unified, and framed, conveying ideas of caste classification and power, and losing itsecological implications. The dragon transitioned from a semi-ecological domain into a total social caste system. However, many people considered the "standardized" dragon as the symbol of the oppressor. Because of continuous orthopraxy and calls for imperial reverence, especially under orthopractic agenda and the surveillance of local elites, the popularized dragon was imbued within local artworks or hidden under the sanctity of Buddhas or popular gods in order to survive. Through disguise, the popular dragon partially maintained its ecological narratives. When the imperial dynasties ended in East Asia (1910 in Korea, 1911 in China, 1945 in Vietnam), the dragon was dramatically decentralized. However, trends of re-standardization and re-centralization have emerged recently in China, as the country rises in the global arena. In this newly-emerging "re-orthopraxy", the dragon has been superimposed with a more externally political discourse ("soft power" in international relations) rather than the old-style standardization for internal centralization in the late imperial period. In the contemporary world, science and technology have advanced humanity's ability to improve the world; however, it seems that people have abused science and technology to control nature, consequently damaging the environment (pollution, global warming, etc.). The dragon symbol needs to be re-defined, "re-molded", re-evaluated and reinterpreted accordingly, especially under the newly-emerging lens-the New Confucian "anthropocosmic" view.

Protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B), a negative regulator of insulin signaling, has served as a potential drug target for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. The MeOH extracts of twenty-nine medicinal plants, traditionally used in Vietnam as anti-diabetes agents, were investigated for PTP1B inhibitory activity in vitro. The results indicated that, most materials showed moderate to strong inhibitory activity with IC50 values ranging from 3.4 mg/mL to 35.1 mg/mL; meanwhile, eleven extracts (37.9%) could demonstrate PTP1B activity with IC50 values less than 15.5 mg/mL; sixteen extracts (55.2%) could demonstrate PTP1B activity with IC50 values ranging from 15.5 mg/mL to 35.1 mg/mL. The study may provide a proof, at least in a part, for the ethno-medical use in diabetes disease of these plants.
Factors Affecting Training Quality and Student Satisfaction: An Empirical Study in Vietnam
Duong Thi Hai LE,Long Duc Bao NGUYEN,Chau Le Ngoc PHAN,Tuan Minh VU,Hien Thu PHAN 한국유통과학회 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.4
The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the training quality of Van Lang University’s Finance Banking faculty (VLU). Another goal was to discover a way to increase training quality and give students the greatest experience possible. To achieve the following goals, qualitative research was used in combination with questionnaires and document reviews. A total of 700 surveys were sent out, with 624 responses. In-depth interviews with 12 graduates were conducted during the qualitative stage to obtain their perspectives on their time at VLU. The impact of five factors (instructor qualification, facility, education program, accessibility, and student interaction) was investigated in this study, and the findings revealed that all of them significantly mediated the relationship with the training quality of VLU’s Finance Banking faculty. The findings show that it is vital to improve the training quality to increase student satisfaction and boost their academic abilities. With the framework from this study, policymakers, researchers, and institutes can cooperate in developing and upgrading the general training quality at higher education institutions in Vietnam. Improving the training quality of a faculty will continue to be a challenge. Therefore, this is a topic that requires continuous research.

One new lignan, trichobenzolignan (1), and seven known compounds, ligballinol (2), (-)-pinoresinol (3), ehletianol C (4), luteolin 7-O-b-D-glucopyranoside (5), chrysoeriol-7- O-b-D-glucopyranoside (6), 10a-cucurbita5,24-dien-3b-ol (7), and arvenin I (8). Their structures were established on the basis of spectral and chemical evidence, which were in agreement with those reported in literature. The cytotoxic activities of these compounds were evaluated on four cancer cell lines such as A-549 (human lung cancer), HT-29 (human colon adenocarcinoma), OVCAR (human ovarian carcinoma), and MCF-7 (human breast cancer). As the results, compound 7 showed significant activity on HT-29 and OVCAR cancer cell lines with IC50 of 4.1 and 6.5 lM, respectively. Compounds 1, 5, 6, and 8 exhibited moderate activities in all cancer cell lines with IC50 ranging from 11.3 to 42.8 lM.
