It has been known that mandible ramus flexure is an important morphologic trait for sex determination. However, it will be unavailable when mandible is incomplete or fragmented. Therefore, the anthropometric analysis on incomplete or fragmented mandible becomes more important. The aim of this study is to investigate the sex-discriminant potential of mandible ramus flexure on the Korean three-dimensional (3D) mandible models with anthropometric analysis. The sample consists of 240 three dimensional mandibular models obtained from Korean population (M:F; 120:120, mean age 46.2y), collected by The Catholic Institute for Applied Anatomy, The Catholic University of Korea. Anthropometric information about 11 metric was taken with Mimics, anthropometry libraries toolkit. These parameters were subjected to different discriminant function analyses using SPSS 17.0. Univariate analyses showed that the resubstitution accuracies for sex determination range from 50.4 to 77.1%. Mandibular flexure upper border (MFUB), maximum ramus vertical height (MRVH), and upper ramus vertical height (URVH) expressed the greatest dimorphism, 72.1 to 77.1%. Bivariate analyses indicated that the combination of MFUB and MRVH hold even higher resubstitution accuracy of 81.7%. Furthermore, the direct and stepwise discriminant analyses with the variables on the upper ramus above flexure could predict sex in 83.3 and 85.0%, respectively. When all variables of mandibular ramus flexure were input in stepwise discriminant analysis, the resubstitution accuracy arrived as high as 88.8%. Therefore, we concluded that the upper ramus above flexure hold the larger potentials than the mandibular ramus flexure itself to predict sexes, and that the equations in bivariate and multivariate analysis from our study will be helpful for sex determination on Korean population in forensic science and law.

J. Chen,L. Jiao,J. L. Zhang,Y. Chen,L. Yang,H. Q. Yuan 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.63 No.3
We study the superconducting properties of the polycrystalline LaNiC2 by means of measuringthe electrical resistivity ρ(T), magnetization M(T) and London penetration depth Δλ(T). Thesuperconducting order parameter is analyzed in terms of the low temperature penetration depthΔλ(T) and the corresponding superfluid density ρs(T), and the results show strong evidence oftwo-gap Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) superconductivity for LaNiC2.

<P>EP receptor activation by PGE2 regulates gastrointestinal motility by modulating smooth muscle contractility. Interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs) are pacemaker cells that regulate smooth muscle activity. We aimed to determine effects of the EP3 receptor agonist sulprostone on pacemaker potentials in colonic ICCs. We performed a whole cell patch clamp, RT-PCR, and Ca2+ imaging in cultured ICCs from mouse colon. Sulprostone depolarized the membrane and increased pacemaker frequency. EP3 receptor antagonist blocked these sulprostone-induced effects. EP3 receptors were expressed in ANO1-positive ICCs. Phospholipase C inhibitor or Ca2+-ATPase inhibitor from the endoplasmic reticulum blocked the sulprostone-induced effects and sulprostone increased intracellular Ca2+ ([Ca2+](i)) oscillations. Hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated (HCN) channel blockers also suppressed the sulprostone-induced effects. Sulprostone enhanced pacemaker activity through EP3 receptors by activating HCN channels via the [Ca2+](i) release pathway. Therefore, EP3 receptor activation in ICCs may modulate colonic motility and could be a therapeutic target for enhancing colonic GI motility.</P>

J.P. Chenga,Jiao Wang,Q.Q. Li,H.G. Liu,Y. Li 한국공업화학회 2016 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.44 No.-
SnO2 has been extensively investigated and used to detect a variety of gases for practical application. SnO2 nanomaterials with different morphologies and spatial assemblies have been fabricated in the lastfew years in order to improve the gas sensing performances. Meanwhile, many reports on the fabricationand gas sensing research using SnO2-based composites have been also published recently. In this work,we reviewed the recent developments of conductivity type of gas sensors for various SnO2-basedcomposites, including SnO2/inorganic metal oxide, SnO2/carbon nanomaterials, SnO2/noble metals,SnO2/polymer, and SnO2/other materials in the lastfive years. Most of reports demonstrated that using acomposite the properties of the gas sensing material could be greatly improved, such as high sensitivity, low working temperature, quick response, excellent stability or low detection limit. Each component hadits unique effect to influence the sensing properties of the composite. The possible developmentdirections were also discussed.

The effects of corticosterone (CORT) administration on the weight of small intestine and the expression of nutrient transporter mRNA in the small intestine of broiler chickens (Gallus gallus domesticus) were investigated. One hundred and eight sevenday-old birds were randomly divided into two equal groups comprising a control group (CTRL) and an experimental group (CORT). CTRL birds were fed a basal diet and the CORT birds were fed a basal diet containing 30 mg corticosterone/kg from d 8 to 21. At 21 d of age, average daily feed intake (ADFI), serum corticosterone level, small intestinal absolute wet weight and relative weight, and relative abundance of SGLT1, CaBP-D28k, PepT1 mRNA in the duodenum and L-FABP mRNA in the jejunum were determined. The results showed that serum corticosterone level, liver weight and small intestinal relative weight (small intestinal wet weight/body weight) of CORT chickens were about 30.15%, 26.72% and 42.20% higher, respectively, than in the CTRL group (p<0.05). CORT birds had relative mRNA abundance of CaBP-D28k and PepT1 in the duodenum, and L-FABP in the jejunum which was 1.77, 1.37 and 1.94 fold higher, respectively, than in the CTRL group (p<0.05); the relative abundance of SGLT1 was 1.67 fold higher than in the CTRL group (p = 0.097). ADFI, small intestinal wet weight and length in CORT-treated broiler chickens was about 29.11%, 31.12% and 12.35% lower, respectively, than in the CTRL group (p<0.05). In conclusion, corticosterone administration lowered the wet weight but increased the relative weight of the small intestine and the expression of intestinal nutrient transporter mRNA of broiler chickens.
Insights into the removal of gaseous oxytetracycline by combined ozone and membrane biofilm reactor
Z.S. Wei,X.L. Chen,Z.S. Huang,H.Y. Jiao,X.L. Xiao 대한환경공학회 2022 Environmental Engineering Research Vol.27 No.6
Gaseous emerging organic compounds (GEOCs) may harm human health and ecological environment. High temperature composting of livestock manure may produce oxytetracycline (OTC) waste gas. Here, we investigated treatment OTC in waste gas by combined ozone and membrane biofilm reactor (MBfR) with desulphurizing bacteria. The performance, the microbial community, gene function and the mechanism for OTC removal in the ozone-MBfR were evaluated. The ozone-MBfR system could achieve more degradation of OTC completely than MBfR. Desulfovibrio, Lentimicrobium, Aminivibrio, Thioalkalispira, Erysipelothrix, Mangroviflexus, Azoarcus, Thauera, Geobacter, Paracoccus, and Dethiosulfatibacter were the dominant genera. Pseudomonas, Escherichia, Bacteroides, Salmonella, Paracoccus, Stappia were contribution to OTC degradation. With the addition of ozone, the community diversity increased; some genera, such as Tenericutes- uncultured, and Desulfovibrio, increased in abundance, whereas others, such as Thauera, and Petrimonas, decreased. Ozone destroyed the enol structure in OTC molecular structure and produces biodegradable products, ozone oxidation was combined with biodegradation, to achieve thoroughly degrade OTC in waste gas. The novel hybrid ozone-MBfR is a cost-effective and robust alternative to GEOCs treatment.

Cr₂O₃ nanoparticles were prepared via one-step reactive laser ablation of Cr in oxygen. The metastable CrO₂ phase was obtained through the subsequent oxidation of Cr₂O₃ nanoparticles under O₂ with gas pressures of up to 40 MPa. The as-prepared Cr₂O₃ nanoparticles are spherical or rectangular in shape with sizes ranging from 20 nm to 50 nm. High oxygen pressure annealing is effective in producing meta-stable CrO₂ from as-dried Cr₂O₃ nanoparticles, and the Cr₂O₃ nanoparticles exhibit a weak ferromagnetic behavior with an exchange bias of up to 11 mT that can be ascribed to the interfacial exchange coupling between uncompensated surface spins and the antiferromagnetic core. The Cr₂O₃/CrO₂ nanoparticles exhibit an enhanced saturation magnetization and a reduced exchange bias with an increasing faction of CrO₂ due to the elimination of uncompensated surface spins over the Cr₂O₃ nanoparticles when exposed to a high pressure of O₂ and/or possible phase segregation that results in a smaller grain size for both Cr₂O₃ and CrO₂.
