        폭발합성법에 의한 Ti5Si3 계 금속간화합물의 합성

        Synthesis of an intermetallic compound based on Ti_5Si₃ by an explosive compaction of elemental powders was studied. The main experimental variable was the detonation velocity, and it was found that the relative density of the compacted compound increased with the detonation velocity. To enhance the density of the compound further, however, it was deemed necessary to consider variables such as the can, powder and the backup tube. From an X-ray diffraction analysis of the explosion-compacted compound it was confirmed that formation of the Ti_5Si₃ phase was complete. Apart from the needs to further improve the density and crack resistance of the compacted alloy, the present work indicates that the explosion synthesis has a potential to be developed as a consolidation method for Ti_5Si₃ intermetallic compounds.

        This writer tries to examine the current situation regarding the sermon criticism of Korean churches and propose a few things to establish the foundation of biblical preaching in Korean churches through this paper. In fact, the word, sermon criticism is being used very rarely not only in the Korean churches but also in the Western churches. And it can not be easily found in the western homiletic world as far as books or papers regarding the sermon criticism are concerned. In the midst of this current situation, Korean churches begin to have a great interest in a sermon criticism.But the sermon criticism based on the wrong theology might be cause for wrong preaching and a great danger to impede wholesome words. On the other hand, the interest regarding the right sermon criticism based on biblical theology will play a far bigger part in making the pulpit as the word of truth. For this purpose, I will take a look at the history of sermon criticism in Korean churches. Then secondly, I would like to analyze the contents of the sermon criticism and evaluate its validity. Finally, I try to make five suggestions in order to make right sermon criticism settled in Korean churches. First, the biblical homiletic theology should be in a triangular position for the right sermon criticism of the pulpit of Korean churches. Second, for the balanced criticism, preachers and their sermon must be studied simultaneously. Third, sublation of criticism with a critic's viewpoint to his heart's content and a hermeneutical critique attitude toward analyzing the sermon with respect of preachers’intention must be provided. Fourth, the same interest not only in the preachers’body of sermon but also in the delivery of sermon must be needed as well. Fifth, a sermon must be comprehended under the live worship circumstance on account of a sermon being dynamic in the background of every service. The word of God through preaching is not an object of a critique but the object of obedience. But preaching can be developed by the creative criticism. I hope that the pulpit experiences the holy change in every sermon in accordance with sermon criticism positioning as a constructive academic field, and with the sermon of Korean churches putting down new roots in the Bible drastically, and permeating into auditors’lives accurately.

        Using the Korean Translation of Disney’s Mulan to Learn About Cross-Cultural Awareness

        This paper is an attempt to learn about cross-cultural issues using the Korean dubbed and subtitled translation of Disney’s Mulan. The concept of ‘Cultural Re-saturation’ is introduced as a form of domestication chosen as a translational solution when the target culture (TC) audience knows more about the source text (ST) context than the source culture (SC) audience. Mulan is created under distinct circumstances: although based on the Ballad of Mulan, a Chinese cultural legacy, it was scripted and made by the American animation studio, Walt Disney Pictures. The original English dialogue of the film, the dubbed version and the subtitles of the official Korean DVD of Mulan were analyzed to present a model for the study of cross-cultural awareness through translation. The resulting Korean target text (TT) tends to carry a lot more cultural nuances than the original American source text, as the text is adapted to suit an audience more informed of the cultural context. Defining this phenomenon as Cultural Re-saturation, this paper attempts to portray the prevalence of this tactic within the official translations of Mulan and aims to provide a means for gaining an enhanced cross-cultural understanding of the complexity and subtlety of culture and language.

        일반화된 신호 압신법에 기반한 향상된 차분전력분석 방법

        차분전력공격(Differential Power Analysis, DPA)의 효율성은 수집신호 정렬도를 비롯한 다양한 잡음에 많은 영향을 받는다. 최근에 Ryoo등은 잡음 신호를 극복하여 DPA의 분석성능 향상을 가져오는 효과적인 신호처리기법을 소개했다. 본 논문에서는 기존에 제안된 신호처리기법이 적용되지 않은 경우를 보이고, 이에 대한 해결방안으로 차분파형모델(Differential Trace Model, DTM)을 제안한다. 또한 제안된 DTM이 DPA 분석에 적합한가에 대해 이론적으로 증명하고 실험을 통해 검증한다. Differential Power Analysis is fully affected by various noises including temporal misalignment. Recently, Ryoo et al have introduced an efficient preprocessor method leading to improvements in DPA by removing the noise signals. This paper experimentally proves that the existing preprocessor method is not applied to all processor. To overcome this defect, we propose a Differential Trace Model(DTM). Also, we theoretically prove and experimentally confirm that the proposed DTM suites DPA.

      • Behaviors of NIH-3T3 Fibroblasts on Graphene/Carbon Nanotubes: Proliferation, Focal Adhesion, and Gene Transfection Studies

        <P>Carbon-based materials, including graphene and carbon nanotubes, have been considered attractive candidates for biomedical applications such as scaffolds in tissue engineering, substrates for stem cell differentiation, and components of implant devices. Despite the potential biomedical applications of these materials, only limited information is available regarding the cellular events, including cell viability, adhesion, and spreading, that occur when mammalian cells interface with carbon-based nanomaterials. Here, we report behaviors of mammalian cells, specifically NIH-3T3 fibroblast cells, grown on supported thin films of graphene and carbon nanotubes to investigate biocompatibility of the artificial surface. Proliferation assay, cell shape analysis, focal adhesion study, and quantitative measurements of cell adhesion-related gene expression levels by RT-PCR reveal that the fibroblast cells grow well, with different numbers and sizes of focal adhesions, on graphene- and carbon nanotube-coated substrates. Interestingly, the gene transfection efficiency of cells grown on the substrates was improved up to 250% that of cells grown on a cover glass. The present study suggests that these nanomaterials hold high potential for bioapplications showing high biocompatibility, especially as surface coating materials for implants, without inducing notable deleterious effects while enhancing some cellular functions (<I>i.e.</I>, gene transfection and expression).</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/ancac3/2010/ancac3.2010.4.issue-11/nn1018279/production/images/medium/nn-2010-018279_0009.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nn1018279'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

        Adolescent nutrition: what do pediatricians do?

        Multiple psychosocial problems and many chronic diseases of adulthood can be influenced by adolescent nutritional problems. In Korea, adolescent obesity and obesity related health risks have been increased and insufficient intakes of nutrients, such as calcium, iron and potassium, and distorted thinking about obesity are also common. However there are no comprehensive countermeasure because of the excessive burden of studies and the lack of community interest. And the nutrition guidelines that is suitable for Korean adolescent leaves something to be desired, and the pediatrician's concern is lacking yet. In the Korean dietary reference intakes 2010 that was revised according to the 2007 Korean National Growth Chart and 2007 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, the range for adolescents is changed to the age 12-18 and dietary reference intakes of some nutrients mainly with vitamin D is changed. Recently several researches, about how school nutrition policies and media effect on eating habits and the weight concerns, and influences of public nutrition policies and fast food commercials have been actively studied to improve adolescent nutritive conditions. In this review, I summarize the dietary reference intakes for Korean adolescents that were revised in 2010, and current studies about the adolescent nutrition.

        A Taxonomy of the Common Tasks and the Development of a Risk Index for Physical Load Assessment in Nursing Job

        Background: Nursing service is a nonroutine work with an excessive physical load and diverse tasks. This study derived representative common tasks based on the frequently occurring tasks with a high physical load in the nursing workers' daily work and developed indicators to evaluate the work risk by reflecting the characteristics of nonroutine work. Methods: Common tasks were classified through the following stages: literature review, first focus group interview (FGI) with experts, first classification of common tasks, second FGI with hospital health managers, a survey of nursing service workers, and the final classification of common tasks for each task type. To develop an objective risk index for physical load assessment, we investigated the frequency and duration of the derived common tasks via survey. Results: Nursing common tasks were categorized into six task types and 56 subtasks. To evaluate the risks of various tasks in nonroutine works, three frequencies and three working time levels were defined by examining the task frequency and working hours. Exposure time was defined to reflect the characteristics of a nonroutine job. The final risk assessment was the product of the exposure time level and job intensity level. From this, four risk action levels were derived. Conclusion: This study has the advantage of solving the problem of focusing on some tasks in evaluating the physical load. It was meaningful in that a new risk assessment index based on exposure time was proposed based on the development of an evaluation scale for frequency and time by reflecting the characteristics of nonroutine work.

        TESTING FOR SUNSPOTS IN THE FOREIGN EXCHANGE MARKET

        It has been shown that the nonfundamental uncertainty called sunspots matters in many areas of the economy. Noting the fact that nationwide capital movement and the speculative demand for foreign currencies are rapidly increasing, this paper conducts empirical tests on the sunspot exchange rate model. The empirical result shows that the sunspot equilibrium exchange rate deviating from Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) and interest Rate Parity (IRP) is consistent with the real data. More importantly, the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) over-identification test is shown to support the evidence that more general Euler equations are in favor of our sunspot equilibrium exchange rate model.         BIRB 796 has Distinctive Anti-inflammatory Effects on Different Cell Types

        The pro-inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$ (TNF${\alpha}$) and interleukin (IL)-$1{\beta}$ are crucial mediators involved in chronic inflammatory diseases. Inflammatory signal pathways regulate inflammatory cytokine expression-mediated by p38 mitogen activated protein kinase (p38MAPK). Therefore, considerable attention has been given to p38MAPK as a target molecule for the development of a novel anti-inflammatory therapeutics. BIRB 796, one of p38MAPK inhibitor, is a candidate of therapeutic drug for chronic inflammatory diseases. In this study, we investigated the effect of BIRB 796 on inflammatory cytokine productions by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in different immune cell types. BIRB 796 reduced LPS-mediated IL-8 production in THP-1 cells but not in Raw 264.7 cells. Further analysis of signal molecules by western blot revealed that BIRB 796 sufficiently suppressed LPS-mediated phosphorylation of p38MAPK in both cell types whereas it failed to block inhibitor of kappa B (I-${\kappa}B$) degradation in Raw 264.7 cells. Taken together, these results suggest that the anti-inflammatory function of BIRB 796 depends on cell types.
