Teachers’ Needs for Mental Health of Elementary School Children
DongHyun Ahn,YunYoung Kim,HeJin Jang,WhaYeon Kang 대한신경정신의학회 2004 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.1 No.1
Teachers play an increasingly important role in identifying children at risk and providing mental health services to school children. We surveyed teachers needs about mental health problems of primary school children. The teachers perceived 6.9% children in class as having some mental health problems, such as behavioral, emotional, or learning problems. More than 46.5% of the children having mental health problems were perceived by their teachers as needing services, but the teachers referred only 15.1% of children at risk to the mental health services. The most frequently perceived problems were poor concentration and short attention span (26.3%), poor relationship with other children (17.5%), and losing temper (13.9%). Although a large proportion of teachers reported their school children as needing mental health services, most of children at risk did not received assessment and treatment recommendation by their teachers.
Optimal Standing Jump Trajectory Generation for Biped Robots
DongHyun Ahn,Baek-Kyu Cho 한국정밀공학회 2020 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.21 No.8
One of the disadvantages of biped robots is the slow movement. Jumping or running can be the solution to this. This paper describes an optimal jump trajectory generation method for biped robots. In order to conveniently create a jumping trajectory, the center of mass trajectory of the robot was divided into vertical and horizontal directions. The vertical trajectory was designed to maintain the desired flight time by considering a capacity of a actuator and the impact force at landing. The horizontal trajectory was designed to conform to the desired horizontal COM velocity at takeoff while maintaining the desired zero moment point by using preview control. We also considered the friction force between the robot and the ground and the region of motion of the robot. This process was defined as a nonlinear optimization problem, and the optimal jump trajectory was obtained. The trajectory was verified by simulation and standing jump experiment of an actual humanoid robot.
Maggie’s Duality and James’s Ambiguity in The Golden Bowl
( Donghyun Ahn ) 한국현대영미소설학회 2019 현대영미소설 Vol.26 No.3
This paper examines Henry James’s 1905 novel The Golden Bowl and how its protagonist Maggie overcomes her flaws and restores moral order. Critics were drastically split on how they view Maggie and the value of the moral order she creates. While Charlotte is inferior to Maggie in that she lacks Maggie's sense of morals and drive to fix the status quo, Maggie is not without fault. It is questionable whether Maggie's moral order is desirable, because it comes at the cost of fear and pain, and even represents destructive moral force. Admittedly, some of her unethical actions such as deception, lying, and playacting can be excused because they were necessary for her to achieve her goal. However, her hypocrisy, self-righteousness, and hate make her a problematic character. Similarly, her immature tendency to objectify other persons is also controversial. While it is true that she matures throughout the book and overcomes the materialistic mindset that views others as collectible art pieces, she nonetheless still views them as means to meet her needs. James basically approves of the process in which Maggie implements her notion of moral order. Nevertheless, in order to stay faithful to his insight on his protagonist, he has also included many factors that call that order into question.
Major Social and Clinical Psychopathologies in Korean Children and Adolescents
DongHyun Ahn 대한신경정신의학회 2006 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.3 No.1
The Korean society has dynamically changed during the last sixty years, bringing about many problems for children and adolescents. This review looks at four prevalent youth problems, including intra-familial violence and abuse, Internet addiction, social isolation, and excessive pressure in education. Analysis of several domestic articles and bibliographies shows that the mentioned problems may be detrimental to a child’s mental health and hinder its normal development. Some phenomena are also closely related to overt clinical syndromes or psychopathologies. The Korean Medical Association initiated a child abuse prevention and treatment program in 2002. Additionally, the Korean Association of Adolescent Psychiatry supported by Prime Ministry Youth Commission is now developing a treatment program and an effective network for the alleviation of Internet addiction in adolescents. Socially isolated adolescents (hikkigomori) and excessive educational pressure (“Ko-sam-pyung”) are a threat to our society due to their complexity and their close relation to the social value system. It is necessary to address these issues.

As the minimum feature size decreases, techniques to avoid contamination and processes to maintain clean wafer surfaces have become very important. The deposition and detachment of nanoparticles from surfaces are major problem to integrated circuit fabrication. Therefore, cleaning technology which reduces nanoparticles is essential to increase yield. Previous megasonic cleaning technology has reached the limits to reduce nanoparticles. Megasonic cleaning is one of the efficiency method to reduce contamination nanoparticle. Two major mechanisms are active in a megasonic cleaning, namely, acoustic streaming and cavitation. Acoustic streaming does not lead to sufficiently strong force to cause damage to the substrates or patterns. Sonoluminescence is a phenomenon of light emission associated with the cavitation of a bubble under ultrasound. We studied a correlation between sonoluminescence and sound pressure distribution for the minimum of pattern damage in megasonic cleaning.

This paper presents various strategies for humanoid vehicle driving and egress tasks. For driving, a tele-operating system that controls a robot based on a human operator’s commands is built. In addition, an autonomous assistant module is developed for the operator. Normal position control can result in severe damage to robots when they egress from vehicles. To prevent this problem, another approach that mixes various joint control techniques is adopted in this study. Additionally, a footplate is newly designed and attached to the vehicle floor for the ground landing phase of the egress task. The attached plate enables the robot to step down onto the ground in a safe manner. For stable locomotion, a balance controller is designed for the humanoid. For the design of the controller, the robot is modeled using an inverted pendulum that consists of a spring and a damper. Then, a state feedback controller (with pole placement and a state observer) is built based on the simplified model. Many approaches that are presented in this paper were successfully applied to a full-sized humanoid, DRC-HUBO+, in the DARPA Robotics Challenge Finals, which were held in the United States in 2015.
