The molecular chaperone heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) is responsible for maintaining the correct folding and stability of many signaling proteins. It is a promising target of cancer therapeutics and several other diseases, including neurodegenerative disease, nerve injuries, inflammation, and infection. In an effort to identify new Hsp90 inhibitors from natural sources using an in vitro ATPase inhibition assay, two 6-alkylsalicylic acid analogues, salaceyin A and B were identified from the culture extract of Streptomyces. Salaceyin A and B exhibited moderate ATPase inhibitory activities with IC50 values of 68.3 and 65.2 μM, respectively. Binding of salaceyins to human Hsp90α was examined by competition binding experiments with ATPSepharose beads. However, the compounds exhibited no degradation activity of Hsp90 client proteins, Her2, c-Raf, or Akt.

아크릴아마이드 저감화된 콜드칩 가공용 우수감자 계통 선발

본 연구는 콜드칩 가공용 감자 계통을 선발하고자, 47계통과 대조구 품종인 ‘대서’, ‘수미’, ‘구이벨리’의 수확 후, 4℃, 8℃ 저온저장 및 20℃ 가온 조정처리에 따른 glucose함량, 아크릴아마이드 함량 및 두 형질 간의 상관성을 비교분석하였다. 대조구 품종 및 47계통 모두에서 수확 후, glucose 함량이 0.25% 이하, 아크릴아마이드 함량 1000ppb이하로 나타났고, 4℃ 저온저장에 의해 glucose와 아크릴아마이드 함량 모두 급격히 증가하였으며, H7, H13, H16, H40등 4계통에서만 500ppb 이하로 검출되었다. 8℃ 저온저장 역시 두 함량 모두 증가하였으나, 4℃ 저온저장에 비해 비교적 낮게 나타났으며, 20℃ 가온 조정에 의해서도 두 함량 모두 감소한 것으로 나타났다. 저온저장에 따른 glucose 함량과 아크릴아마이드 함량 간의 상호관계를 분석한 결과 정의 상관성을 확인할 수 있었다. 결론적으로 저온처리에도 낮은 glucose 함량을 나타낸 H7, H13, H16, H40계통들이 낮은 함량의 아트릴아마이드 함유한 것으로 나타나 콜드 칩가공용 우수 감자 계통으로 선발할 수 있었다. In order to select potato clones for making cold chip, this study analyzed the glucose content, acrylamide content, and the correlation between the two properties after harvest, 4℃ and 8℃ low-temperature storage, and 20℃ heating treatment of 47 breeding clones and control cultivars ‘Atlantic’, ‘Sumi’, and ‘Gui Valley’. In all of the control cultivars and 47 clones, glucose content was below 0.25% and acrylamide content was below 1000 ppb just after harvest, but after 4℃ low-temperature storage both the glucose content and acrylamide content increased rapidly and only 4 clones H7, H13, H16, and H40 showed a level below 500 ppb. In 8℃ low-temperature storage as well both contents increased, but the increase was relatively smaller than that in 4℃ low-temperature storage. In addition, 20℃ heating treatment decreased both contents. In the results of analyzing the correlation between glucose content and acrylamide content at low-temperature storage, a positive correlation was observed. In conclusion, clones H7, H13, H16, and H40 showing low glucose content even at low-temperature treatment were found to contain less acrylamide and therefore they were selected as potato clones suitable for making cold chip.

To optimize the mechanical properties of polymeric membranes fabricated by non-solvent induced phaseseparation (NIPS), a non-woven fabric has been used to reinforce the composite membrane. However, it remains a challengeto prepare an intact polymer membrane on the non-woven fabric because casting dopes usually spread into the poroussubstrate. Herein, a kind of non-woven fabric reinforced poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) composite membrane wasfabricated by using poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) to control the viscosity of casting dopes. Additionally, the effects of nonwovenfabric on the membrane structure and properties were explored in the light of dynamics during the phase inversionprocess. A porous skin layer and long finger-like pores were successfully created on the surface and inner of membraneswhen 6 wt% PVP was added in the casting dopes. Compared with pure PVDF membranes, the pure water flux of the resultantmembrane was elevated from 49.9 L/m2h to 656 L/m2h, BSA rejection from 40.5 % to 86.4 %, and flux recovery ratio (FRR)from 58.7 % to 86.1 %. More importantly, it also possessed outstanding mechanical properties, which far outperforms theresults reported in some literatures. This study suggests a promising strategy to fabricate PVDF composite membranes withpreeminent properties for wastewater treatment.
폴리페놀, 안토시아닌과 비타민 C 함량이 우수한 감자 계통 선발

본 연구는 기능성 식품 소재용 감자 계통을 선발하고자, 35개의 계통 및 대조구 품종인 ‘수미’, ‘다솜밸리’ ‘고구밸리’의 총 폴리페놀, 총 안토시아닌, 비타민C의 함량을 분석하였다. 분석결과, 계통별 함량차이가 큰 것으로 나타났으며, 그 가운데서 총 폴리페놀 함량은 KPG16 계통이 105.08㎎·100g<SUP>-1</SUP> FW, 총 안토시아닌 함량은 KPG13 계통이 4.78㎎·100g<SUP>-1</SUP> FW, 비타민 C 함량은 KPG20 계통이 22.16㎎·100g<SUP>-1</SUP> FW으로 각각 높게 나타났다. 종합적으로 분석한 결과, KPG5계통이 총 폴리페놀, 총 안토시아닌, 비타민 C 함량이 각각 103.95, 3.15, 12.12㎎·100g<SUP>-1</SUP> FW 으로 3성분을 고루 함유하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었으며, 추후 기능성 품종 선발의 소재로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. To develop appropriate potato clones as functional food materials, we collected 35 potato breeding clones to analyze the contents of the total polyphenol, anthocyanin, and vitamin C with the ‘Superior’, ‘Dasom valley’, and ‘Gogu valley’ cultivars as controls. Based on our analysis great differences were observed in different potato clones. KPG16 had the highest content of total polyphenol at 105.08 ㎎·100g<SUP>-1</SUP> FW; KPG13 had the highest content of anthocyanin at ·4.78 ㎎100g<SUP>-1</SUP> FW; KPG20 had the highest content of vitamin C at 22.16 ㎎·100g<SUP>-1</SUP> FW. Some clones had higher contents of the total polyphenol but lower levels of anthocyanin. Ultimately, potato clones showing relatively high indexes for all three compounds, could be considered as good functional food material. By equilibrium analysis of the contents of total polyphenol, anthocyanin, and vitamin C, KPG5 showed relatively higher contents, with values of 103.95, 3.15, 12.12 ㎎·100g<SUP>-1</SUP> FW, respectively. Therefore, KPG5 was considered to be the best potato breeding clone in view of a functional potato breeding system.

Turgor is very important for the invasive growth of fungal pathogens. Glycerol, a highly osmotic solvent, is considered to play an important role in turgor generation. The nematophagous fungus Arthrobotrys oligospora mainly lives as a saprophyte. In the presence of nematodes, A. oligospora enters the parasitic stage by forming three-dimensional networks (traps) to capture nematodes. In A. oligospora, we found that glycerol accumulated during nematode-induced trap formation. We demonstrated that deleting gph1, which encodes glycogen phosphorylase, decreased the glycerol content, compared with that of a wild-type strain. Although the number of traps induced by nematodes was not affected in the Δgph1 mutant, the capture rate was lower. Meanwhile, deleting gph1 also affected the growth rate and conidiation capacity of the fungus. These results indicate that glycerol derived from GPH1 is essential for the full virulence of A. oligospora against nematodes.
A Simple Reversible Watermarking Scheme Based on Difference Expansion

A simple reversible watermarking scheme based on block-wise difference expansion is proposed. Pixels in a block are expanded with respect to a common reference point. The maximum capacity will exceed 0.5 bpp if the block size is larger than 2. According to local variances of the reference points, blocks introducing small distortion by difference expanding are selected firstly to embed watermark. In Tian’s difference expansion algorithm, the embedding of the location map causes large overhead cost, apparently in low payload region. A good lossless compression algorithm is required to reduce this cost but the complexity is increased. In the proposed algorithm, a simple all 0 pattern is used to distinguish between non-expandable and expandable blocks. In this way, the location map is no longer necessary and the complexity of the scheme will be reduced.
