This paper deals with the static task-assignment problem in a distributed computing system. In assigning tasks, we have to persue maximization of load balancing and minimization of interprocessor communication(IPC) simultaneously. However, since these two goals conflict each other, one has to make a compromise between them according to the given task type. Most of the existing approaches minimize IPC subject to constraints on the degree to which the processors' loads are balances. Since they consider the minimization of IPC as the only objective while using load balancing just as a constraint, it is difficult to make a tradeoff between IPC and load balancing. However, it is desirable to simultaneously balance loads and minimize IPC by making an optimal tradeoff between the two conflicting goals. We therefore propose a new cost function to evaluate static task assignments, explicitly describing the tradeoff between the two goals. The variance statistics of load distribution are used to represent the degree of load balancing among the processors for a given assignment. Also suggested is a policy which enables the system designer to make a tradeoff between the two goals by systematically adjusting a weighting factor. It is shown that the task-assignment problem can be transformed into the minimum N-cut problem using a graph modification technique. We propose a heuristic algorithm for solving the transformed problem. Simulation results show that our approach outperforms an existing representative approach for a variety of task and processing systems.
Mera F Type Breathing Circuit 의 임상적 평가
김종래,오흥근,박윤곤,정광하,신치만 대한마취과학회 1986 Korean Journal of Anesthesiology Vol.19 No.5
In 1976 Ramanathan et al introduced a unilimb circle circuit connecting the CO2, absorber and dome valve. A coaxial breathing circuit, Mera F Type breathing circuit, is very light in weight, compact and it can be made any length. This circuit can be used as a circle system, rebreathing or non-rebreathing system and it can be applicable to both pediatric and adult anesthesia. This circuit is easily adaptable to humidification and pollution control devices. It is especially suitable for any kind of surgical procedures including head, neck and others requiring any awkward positions. A clinical study of this circuit was done in 30 cases and compaired with 18 cases using the coventional circuit. Fresh gas flow, tidal volume and respiratory rate were 4 L/min(02:2 L/min., N2O:2L/min.),10 ml/kg and 12-14/min respectively. Controlled ventilation using a volume preset ventilator was used in all cases. After induction, radial artery cannulation with a 20 G angiocatheter was done and blood gas analysis was performed at 30, 60 and 90 minutes respectively. The blood gas analysis was found satisfactory in either the conventional or the Mera F circuit system.
Virtual Standards Development Environments for Concurrent Standardization Process
Kim, Hyoung-Jun,Park, Ki-Shik,Chin, Byoung-Moon,Park, Chee-Hang Electronics and Telecommunications Research Instit 1999 ETRI Journal Vol.21 No.1
Recently, the increased handling of on-line standards information has emerged as an important feature of information and communications technology (ICT) standardization. In order to meet market needs for on-time standards deployment, most standards organizations are actively seeking more efficient ways of standardization using electronic means in order to accelerate the standards making process. This paper suggests a virtual standard development environment designed for standards developers to carry out their standards-related activities on-line. In this paper, we outline a conceptual model of a concurrent standardization process and describe the design and implementation of an Extranet-based network system called standards information cooperative network (SICN). The system was created with a view to fostering faster standards development with functionalities such as a virtual management of networked standards developers, collaboration support tools, a workflow-based electronic signature system, and dynamic links for ready retrieval of standards information stored in a database. We conclude this paper with an introduction to the concept of a virtual standards development organization (VSDO) that supports all the features needed by the relevant standards making bodies to carry out their activities in a dynamic on-line environment.
A Radial Basis Function Approach to Pattern Recognition and Its Applications
Shin, Mi-Young,Park, Chee-Hang Electronics and Telecommunications Research Instit 2000 ETRI Journal Vol.22 No.2
Pattern recognition is one of the most common problems encountered in engineering and scientific disciplines, which involves developing prediction or classification models from historic data or training samples. This paper introduces a new approach, called the Representational Capability (RC) algorithm, to handle pattern recognition problems using radial basis function (RBF) models. The RC algorithm has been developed based on the mathematical properties of the interpolation and design matrices of RBF models. The model development process based on this algorithm not only yields the best model in the sense of balancing its parsimony and generalization ability, but also provides insights into the design process by employing a design parameter (${\delta}$). We discuss the RC algorithm and its use at length via an illustrative example. In addition, RBF classification models are developed for heart disease diagnosis.
Animation Works 이차원 그래픽 애니매이션 편집기의 객체 중심적 설계및 구현
이동현(Tonghyun Lee),박치항(Chee-Hang Park) 한국정보과학회 1993 한국정보과학회 학술발표논문집 Vol.20 No.2
