      • 국내에서 분리된 Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis Virus DNA의 제한효소분석

        Nine strains of infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus(IBRV) isolated in Korea since 1970 were investigated to elucidate the pathogenicity on various cell lines and the reactivity in cross serum neutralization test. The genomes of the viruses were also studied by restriction endonuclease analysis to examine the genetical patterns and the origin of the viruses. Results obtained by experiment were as follows ; 1. In pathogenicity test on various cell lines by cytopathology and immunofluorescence antibody assay, MDBK cells were found to be very susceptible to all of the domestic isolates, Colorado and Oxford strains and RK-13 cells, mildly reactive to all of viruses. However, CV-1 and BHK cells revealed negligible reactions against all of viruses tested. 2. In cross serum neutralization(SN) test with the positive serum from the cattle immunized with PQ7 strain of IBRV, PQ7, SQ, VS, A14, TSV and S′74-7 strains showed 64 of SN titer, and IQ, QW, A37, Colorado and Oxford strains, 128 of SN titer. It was assumed that there is no difference in major antigenic determinants among the viruses. 3. By analysis of restriction endonuclease Hind Ⅲ, it was found that 8 domestic isolates except A37 and Colorado strain revealed the identical banding patterns. However, Oxford strain showed quite different patterns, displaying H band at 6.9×10 exp (6) daltons and K′band at 4.5×10 exp (6) daltons. A37 strain exclusively contained the longer bands of A′ and A″. 4. When the viral DNA were analyzed by restriction endonuclease EcoRI, all of the domestic isolates and Colorado strain showed very similar banding patterns, whereas Oxford strain revealed a considerable discrepancy, displaying B′ band at 12.5×10 exp (6) daltons. 5. By analysis of restriction endonuclease BamHI, it was found that the domestic isolates and Colorado strain revealed similar patterns displaying 8 fragments. However, Oxford strain was cleaved into 9 fragments displaying G′and G″ bands.

        Goretex를 이용한 융비술

        융비술시 실리콘 고무는 다루기 쉽고 조직 반응이 적어 현대 많이 돌출의 합병증이 생길 수 있다. 저자등은 이러한 실리콘의 단점을 보완할 수 있는 goretex를 사용하여 융비술을 시행하고 비첨에 대해서 자가연골을 이식하여 만족할 만한 결과를 얻었기에 goretex가 안면부 연조직의 증강을 위한 이식재료로 적합하다고 생각되어 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Many different materials have been used to provide augmentation of the nasal dorsum. this include both autogenous and homogenous materials,as well as allografts. Silicone among the artificial materials has been most widely used. The silicone has some advantages and disadvantages. Goretex(expanded polytetra-fluoroethylene) which has widely used in vascular surgery and abdominal surgery can be used for facial soft tissue augmentation. The author presemts 2 cases of nasal augmentaion using goretex with literature review.

        Many aspects of epigenetic phenomena have been elucidated via studies of transposable elements. An active transposable element frequently loses its ability to mobilize and goes into an inactive state during development. In this study, we describe the cyclic activity of a maize transposable element dissociation (Ds) in rice. in rice genome, Ds undergoes the spontaneous loss of mobility. However, and inactive state of Ds can be Changed into an active state during tissue culture. The recovery of mobility accompanies not only changes in the methylation patterns of the terminal region of Ds, but also alteration in the steady state level of the activator (Ac) mRNA that is expressed by a constitutive CaMV 35S promoter, Furthermore, the Ds-reactivation process is not random, but stage-specific during plantlet regeneration. Our findings have expanded previous observation on Ac reactivation in the tissue Culture of maize.

        Soft toric lens rotation measurement using Slit-lamp method and built-in camera of smart phone

        Purpose: Aims of this study were to investigate the agreement and test-retest repeatability of two methods for measuring magnitude of soft toric lens rotation. The two methods assessed were a newly developed mobile application for iPhone which uses the built-in camera function and the slit lamp biomicroscope. Methods: Agreement of ToriExpertä against known reference source was tested under experimental situation. For clinical measurement, thirty three participants (66 eyes) wore toric lens (prism ballast design) both eyes. Two investigators measured toric lens rotation using the two methods which are slit-lamp measurement(HS-700) and mobile application. First investigator used the same method twice for assessment of test-retest repeatability of each method. Inter- and intra-investigator agreement and repeatability were assessed using Bland-Altman analysis. Results: Against the known reference sources, mean variance was 0.52±0.75 degree and limits of agreement was ±1.47 degree (95% of Cls). The limits of agreement between the silt-lamp biomicroscope and mobile application methods was ±9.1 degree (95% CIs). Measurements using the two different methods showed no statistically significant mean difference (paired t-test, p=0.32). Inter-investigator agreement of lens rotation was ±7.9 degree (95% CIs) using the slit-lamp microscope and ±7.8 degree using mobile application. Intra-investigator repeatability was ±6.6 degree using the slit lamp microscope and ±6.8 using mobile application. Conclusions: The results should be considered in view of the fact that soft toric lenses are not static but move with the blink thus the location of the reference point is unlikely to be at exactly the same location at the different measurement times. Despite this source of variability in the results, the newly developed mobile application provides clinically comparable performance to slit lamp biomicroscope measurement which does not appear to be investigator dependent. This mobile application may provide sufficient precision to those optometric practices have limited access to slit-lamp biomicroscope for measuring soft toric lens rotation.

        Identification of 5-Hydroxy-3,6,7,8,3´,4´-Hexamethoxyflavone from Hizikia fusiforme Involved in the Induction of the Apoptosis Mediators in Human AGS Carcinoma Cells

        An 80% ethanol extract of Hizikia fusiforme was obtained and followed by successive fractionation using the organic solvents n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and n-butanol to identify the antioxidative substance. The aqueous part of the nbutanol fractionation step, showing high antioxidative activity, was subjected to reverse-phase liquid chromatography. As a result, a substance purified from a BB-2 fraction showed high antioxidative activity. The m/z 419 [M+H] molecular ion peak in the fraction was observed by the analysis of the ESI-LC/MS spectrum. By the analysis of 1H NMR (500 MHz, DMSO-d6) and 13C NMR (125 MHz, DMSO-d6) spectra, a unique compound of the fraction was biochemically identified as a 5-hydroxy-3,6,7,8,3´,4´- hexamethoxyflavone (5HHMF). We also investigated the effect of 5HHMF on human gastric AGS carcinoma cells. Western blot analysis suggested that the flavone substantially increased the levels of the death receptor-associated apoptosis mediators Fas, Fas L, FADD, TRADD, and DR4 in a concentration-dependent manner. The levels of Fas, Fas L, TRADD, and DR4 in the cells treated with 5HHMF (5 ?g/ml) were approximately 26.4-, 12.8-, 6.7-, and 9.8- times higher than those of non-treated cells, respectively. Of note, the level of FADD protein in the cells exposed to 5HHMF (1 ?g/ml) increased approximately 9.6-times. In addition, the cleavage of caspase-3, -8, and -9 in cultured AGS cells treated with 5HHMF was significantly confirmed. Therefore, our results suggest that 5HHMF from H. fusiforme is involved in the induction of death receptorassociated apoptosis mediators in human gastric AGS carcinoma cells.

        <P>We present a comparative study of the effects of a Si capping layer on SiGe channel pMOSFETs used for radio-frequency (RF) applications. In Si-capped devices, the drive current increases because Si/SiGe heterojunction layers form a SiGe quantum well, which reduces carrier scattering. Conversely, SiGe samples without a Si capping layer suffer severe interface degradation, due to Ge diffusing into the gate dielectric. Devices using a Si capping layer have enhanced RF performance and reduced low-frequency noise, which is a key factor affecting phase noise. There is an increase in the RF figures of merit. These benefits indicate that a Si capping layer should be used in SiGe channel pMOSFETs.</P>

        This study was done at Agricultural Experimental Station in Su-won about 50 years ago, and the Evapo-transpiration ratio which was obtained through the experiment has been applied for calculating the duty of water, in Korea. But the auther believe it must be re-examined by reason of improvement of plant breading, method of cultivation, increment of yields and spread of early tramsplanting cultivation of rice corps. This studies began by this reason and will be continued over a 5 years period (from 1962 to 1966)and this paper is the part I based on the 1st year’s experiment, ⑴ This experiment carried on by surveying the fall of water depth in the tanks as fig 1, with simple Hook-gaga(1mm limited)at 10. a. m. everyday. ⑵ The values obtained by this surveying were adjustmented a term 10 days after take root and evapo-transpiration (ET) compared with quantity of evaporation in the evaporator. ⑶ Transition of evapo-transpiration (ET) during the each term was given fig 2. ⑷ Quantity of evaporation from water surface between the rice-plant and it’s transition was given in Tab. 10. ⑸ Evapo-transpiration ratio 1.24 has been applied for calculating the duty of water based on the result obtained at Su-won Agri. Ex. Station in Korea, but this 1st year’s observation showed 1.232. ⑹ Transpiration ratio has been known about 450-500 but this experiment showed 374. ⑺ Total quantity of transpiration of a rice-plant was about 16 liter through this irrigation period.

        Clinical Implications of Preoperative Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation with Respect to Postoperative Cardiovascular Outcomes in Patients Undergoing Non-Cardiac Surgery

        Background and Objectives: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with a higher long-term risk of major cardiovascular events. However, its clinical implications with respect to peri-operative cardiovascular outcomes in patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery is unclear. We tried to examine the association between pre-operative AF and peri-operative cardiovascular outcomes. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data from 26,501 consecutive patients who underwent comprehensive preoperative cardiac evaluations for risk stratification prior to receiving non-cardiac surgery at our center. Preoperative AF was diagnosed in 1,098 patients (4.1%), and their cardiovascular outcomes were compared with those of patients without AF. The primary outcome was the rate of major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) during immediate post-surgery period (<30 days). Results: Patients with AF were older and had higher proportion of male sex, higher rate of extra-cardiac comorbidities, higher CHA2DS2-VASc score, and higher revised cardiac risk index (RCRI) compared with those without AF. The rate of MACCE was significantly higher in AF patients compared to non-AF patients (4.6% vs. 1.2%, p<0.001). Preoperative AF was associated with higher risk of MACCE, even after multivariable adjustment (odds ratio, 2.97; 95% confidence interval, 2.13–4.07, p<0.001). The relative contribution of AF to MACCE was larger in patients with lower RCRI (p for interaction=0.010). The discriminating performance of RCRI was significantly enhanced by addition of AF. Conclusions: In patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery, preoperative AF was associated with a higher risk of peri-operative cardiovascular outcomes.

        Effect of Cordycepin on the Expression of the Inflammatory Cytokines TNF-alpha, IL-6, and IL-17A in C57BL/6 Mice

        Culture supernatants of splenocytes from C57BL/6 mice were exposed to 0.3, 1.0, and 3.0 μg/ml cordycepin plus 3.0 μg/ml lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to investigate the effects of cordycepin (3`-deoxyadenosine) on the production of inflammatory cytokines. Co-administration of 3.0 μg/ml cordycepin with LPS in cultured murine spleen cells significantly diminished the expression of the inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in a time-dependent manner. Expression of the inflammatory cytokine IL-17A was substantially down-regulated in a time- dependent manner at all cordycepin concentrations. These findings suggest that cordycepin down-regulates the immediate hypersensitivity reaction stimulated by LPS.
