The purpose of this study was to develop children-friendly comic books and animation for dietary education of 3rd or 4th grade elementary students. Through a literature review on current dietary problems and dietary education for children, 15 educational themes were chosen on both healthy eating and safe dietary life. Comic books and animation were developed based on the themes by the brainstorming and help of professional animators, and they were applied and evaluated in the field. The developed comic books and animation, with its own characters, proved to be of high quality and effective educational materials for children’s healthy and safe eating. Compared with the reference group, the tested group has shown a significant improvement in dietary knowledge and attitude (p < 0.05). And both parents (level of understanding 4.29, level of interest 4.49, level of usefulness 4.46, level of design satisfaction 3.95 in 5-point Likert scale) and children (level of understanding 4.63, level of interest 4.57, level of usefulness of 1st comic book 4.44, 2nd comic book 4.49, level of design satisfaction 4.06, level of usefulness for knowledge pages 4.22 in 5-point Likert scale) have shown high levels of interests and satisfaction. Therefore, these materials could be utilized as effective educational materials for elementary students in school lunch time, extra-curricular activities, or after school programs

This study was carried out to improve the curricula of the two-year college courses related to beauty-care. The survey was focused to investigate the satisfaction in their majors, educational process, and course management of beauty-care students. Various questions were asked the student groups attending at the colleges in Busan. The satisfaction to their curricula was more related to the overall satisfaction rate in the course than that with the management of the curricula. The statistical analysis and interpretation of this survey was described in detail. Consequently, the beauty-care related colleges may need to develop the diversified educational system, including the customized education for the aptitude of each student, rather than to put more efforts into the hardware part, such as the investment of facilities.

An HPLC method combined with immunoaffinity clean-up was developed for the simultaneous analysis of deoxynivalenol (DON), nivalenol (NIV), and 3-acetyldeoxynivalenol (3AcDON) in grains and feeds. The limits of quantification of the method for DON, 3AcDON, and NIV were 11.0, 27.6, and 13.5 ng/g, respectively. HPLC analyses of 300 samples of grains and feeds collected in South Korea showed that the incidence of DON and NIV in corn was 22.5 and 7.5%, while that in rice was 4.0 and 54.0%, respectively. The incidence of DON and NIV in mixed grain powder was 62.0 and 24.0%, respectively. Our study also showed that animal feeds were mainly contaminated with DON (98.1%) in the range of 32.8-950.25 ng/g with the mean concentration of 353.32 ng/g. The levels of DON in grains did not exceed the maximum allowable limit (1 mg/kg) set by the Korean Food and Drug Administration.
Virus Incidence of Sweet Potato in Korea from 2011 to 2014

A nationwide survey was performed to investigate the current incidence of viral diseases in Korean sweet potatoes for germplasm and growing fields from 2011 to 2014. A total of 83.8% of the germplasm in Korea was infected with viruses in 2011. Commercial cultivars that were used to supply growing fields were infected at a rate of 62.1% in 2012. Among surveyed viruses, the incidence of five Potyvirus species that infect sweet potato decreased between 2012 and 2013, and then increased again in 2014. Representatively, the incidence of Sweet potato feathery mottle virus (SPFMV) was 87.0% in 2012, 20.7% in 2013 and then increased to 35.3% in 2014. Unlike RNA viruses, DNA viruses were shown to decrease continuously. The incidence of Sweet potato leaf curl virus (SPLCV) was 5.5% in 2003, 59.5% in 2011, and 47.4% in 2012. It then decreased continuously year by year to 33.2% in 2013, and then 25.6% in 2014. While the infection rate of each virus species showed a tendency to decline, the virus infection status was more variable in 2013 and 2014. Nevertheless, the high rate of single infections and mixed infection combinations were more variable than the survey results from 2012. As shown in the results from 2013, the most prevalent virus infection was a single infection at 27.6%, with the highest rate of infection belonging to sweet potato symptomless virus-1 (SPSMV-1) (12.9%). Compared to 2013, infection combinations were more varied in 2014, with a total of 122 kinds of mixed infection.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>The measurement of the hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) for the estimation of portal hypertension (PH) in cirrhosis has some limitations, including its invasiveness. Hepatic vein arrival time (HVAT), as assessed by microbubble contrast‐enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS), is negatively correlated with the histological grade of liver fibrosis because of the associated hemodynamic abnormalities. Anatomical and pathophysiological changes in liver microcirculation are the initial events leading to PH. However, the direct relationship between HVAT and PH has not been evaluated. The present study measured both HVPG and HVAT in 71 consecutive patients with compensated cirrhosis and analyzed the relationship between the two parameters (i.e., the derivation set). Results were validated in 35 compensated patients with cirrhosis at another medical center (i.e., the validation set). The derivation set had HVPG and HVAT values of 11.4 ± 5.0 mmHg (mean ± standard deviation; range, 2‐23) and 14.1 ± 3.4 seconds (range, 8.4‐24.2), respectively; there was a statistically significant negative correlation between HVPG and HVAT (r<SUP>2</SUP> = 0.545; <I>P</I> < 0.001). The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) was 0.973 for clinically significant PH (CSPH; HVPG, ≥10 mmHg), and the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and positive and negative likelihood ratios for CSPH for an HVAT cut‐off value of 14 seconds were 92.7%, 86.7%, 90.5%, 89.7%, 6.95, and 0.08, respectively. In addition, a shorter HVAT was associated with worse Child‐Pugh score (<I>P</I> < 0.001) and esophageal varices (<I>P</I> = 0.018). In the validation set, there was also a significant negative correlation between HVAT and HVPG (r<SUP>2</SUP> = 0.538; <I>P</I> < 0.001), and AUROC = 0.953 for CSPH. HVAT was significantly correlated with PH. These results indicate that measuring HVAT is useful for the noninvasive prediction of CSPH in patients with compensated cirrhosis. Effect of Virtual Reality on Cognition in Stroke Patients

Objective To investigate the effect of virtual reality on the recovery of cognitive impairment in stroke patients. Method Twenty-eight patients (11 males and 17 females, mean age 64.2) with cognitive impairment following stroke were recruited for this study. All patients were randomly assigned to one of two groups, the virtual reality (VR) group (n=15) or the control group (n=13). The VR group received both virtual reality training and computerbased cognitive rehabilitation, whereas the control group received only computer-based cognitive rehabilitation. To measure, activity of daily living cognitive and motor functions, the following assessment tools were used:computerized neuropsychological test and the Tower of London (TOL) test for cognitive function assessment,Korean-Modifi ed Barthel index (K-MBI) for functional status evaluation, and the motricity index (MI) for motor function assessment. All recruited patients underwent these evaluations before rehabilitation and four weeks after rehabilitation. Results The VR group showed significant improvement in the K-MMSE, visual and auditory continuous performance tests (CPT), forward digit span test (DST), forward and backward visual span tests (VST), visual and verbal learning tests, TOL, K-MBI, and MI scores, while the control group showed significant improvement in the K-MMSE, forward DST, visual and verbal learning tests, trail-making test-type A, TOL, K-MBI, and MI scores after rehabilitation. Th e changes in the visual CPT and backward VST in the VR group after rehabilitation were signifi cantly higher than those in the control group. Conclusion Our findings suggest that virtual reality training combined with computer-based cognitive rehabilitation may be of additional benefi t for treating cognitive impairment in stroke patients.

텔레매틱스 서비스를 위한 많은 어플리케이션들이 개발 됨에 인해 테스트를 위한 도로 네트워크 기반의 이동객체 궤적데이터의 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 도로 네트워크 상의이동객체들의 실 궤적 데이터와 유사한 합성 궤적 데이터를 구축하기 위한 방법론을 제안한다. 그리고 실제 구현 결과와 실 데이터와의 속도 패턴을 비교하여 실 데이터와의 유사성을 보인다.
