        Restorative effects of Rg3-enriched Korean Red Ginseng and Persicaria tinctoria extract on oxazolone-induced ulcerative colitis in mice

        Background: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is the large intestine disease that results in chronic inflammation and ulcers in the colon. Rg3-enriched Korean Red Ginseng extract (Rg3-RGE) is known for its pharmacological activities. Persicaria tinctoria (PT) is also used in the treatment of various inflammatory diseases. The aim of this study is to investigate the attenuating effects of Rg3-RGE with PT on oxazolone (OXA)-induced UC in mice. Methods: A total of six groups of mice including control group, OXA (as model group, 1.5%) group, sulfasalazine (75 mg/kg) group, Rg3-RGE (20 mg/kg) group, PT (300 mg/kg) group, and Rg3-RGE (10 mg/kg) with PT (150 mg/kg) group. Data on the colon length, body weight, disease activity index (DAI), histological changes, nitric oxide (NO) assay, Real-time PCR of inflammatory factors, ELISA of inflammatory factors, Western blot, and flow cytometry analysis were obtained. Results: Overall, the combination treatment of Rg3-RGE and PT significantly improved the colon length and body weight and decreased the DAI in mice compared with the treatment with OXA. Additionally, the histological injury was also reduced by the combination treatment. Moreover, the NO production level and inflammatory mediators and cytokines were significantly downregulated in the Rg3-RGE with the PT group compared with the model group. Also, NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-𝛋B) were suppressed in the combination treatment group compared with the OXA group. Furthermore, the number of immune cell subtypes of CD4<sup>+</sup> T-helper cells, CD19<sup>+</sup> B-cells, and CD4<sup>+</sup> and CD25<sup>+</sup> regulatory T-cells (Tregs) was improved in the Rg3-RGE with the PT group compared with the OXA group. Conclusion: Overall, the mixture of Rg3-RGE and PT is an effective therapeutic treatment for UC.

        Renal Failure in a Female Muskrat

        야생 포유류의 신부전 증후군은 거의 보고가 없다. Muskrat (Ondatra zibethicus)는 중간 크기의 설치류이며 많은 질병을 가지고 있으나, 신부전 증후군은 보고된 바가 없으며, 본 케이스는 병리학적 진단을 위해 6개월령 암컷사향쥐의 다른 임상증후군 없는 상태로 부검을 실시하였다. 요관, 신장결석과 수진증을 관찰하였고, 결석에 의한 심각한 신장 손상과, 뇌 손상을 포함한 전신 출혈과 석회화가 관찰되었고, 이는 신장 손상으로 인한 요로결석과 장기 손상에 기인한 것이다. 괴사 및 미세석회화는 신장 피질 및 수질에서, 특히 근위 곡 세뇨관 및 신장의 수집관에서 검출되었다. 사구체의 초자양변성이 크게 관찰되었으며 이는 만성 신염을 나타내며. 이러한 소견은 특히 신장에 대한 진균성 독성 효과를 나타내는 것으로 사료된다. 또한, 폐에서 호중구 및 단핵 세포의 침윤이 관찰되었고, 비장에서도 만성 염증세포인 형질세포의 침윤이 관찰되었다. 본 소견에서는 사향쥐 신부전에 따른 사인은 오염된 사료섭취로 의심되는 것으로 판단된다. Renal failure syndrome in wild mammals is infrequently reported. Muskrat (Ondatra zibethicus) is a medium-sized rodent known to carry many diseases but rarely exhibiting renal failure. A six-month old female muskrat was submitted to our laboratory for pathological diagnosis, and necropsy revealed severe renal damage with sand-like lithiasis in the ureter, renal calculi, and hydronephrosis. All major organs, including the cerebrum, also showed systemic hemorrhage and calcification which may have been due to uremia induced by renal failure. Histopathologically, necrosis and microcalcification were detected in the renal cortex and the medulla, especially in the proximal convoluted tubules and collecting ducts of the kidney. Significant hyalinization of the glomeruli was also observed, and this suggested chronic nephritis. These findings would support mycotoxic effects, particularly on the kidney. Moreover, infiltration of neutrophils and mononuclear cells was observed in the lung and of plasma cells in the spleen. The definitive cause of the toxic effects in this case of muskrat renal failure could be attributed to contaminated food.

        Characterization and Thermal Degradation Study of Carbonization the Polyimide (PMDA/ODA)/Fe Composite Films

        The carbonization performance of the iron-containing carbon film resulting from polyimide was examined, Polyimide/Fe composite films were prepared from Iron (III) 2,4-pentanedionate (Fe(acac)) and poly(amic acid) (PAA) based on ODA and PMDA via a solution process in DMAC, followed by carbonization the polyimide film at a temperature range of 600–1600 °C. The organized polyimide/Fe combined fi lms were characterized using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Raman. The formation of Fe particles and the synthesis of polyimide (PMDA/ODA) in the polyimide matrix is confirmed by FTIR results. Meantime, in the polyimide matrix, Fe particles were well spread which were showed by the SEM images. Kinetic parameters and thermal stability of the degradation methods for the organized polyimide/Fe combined films were examined in N 2 environment by TGA. The results have shown that the values of the calculated activation energies and thermal stability increased of the (Fe (acac)) the activation energy and loading also different with the weight-loss rate for all compositions.

        This research work demonstrates surveillance of traffic on roads and streets which is used by private companies and public organizations and government institutions. The primary purpose is the well-organized management of the transport system and public safety on highways and in civil areas. This paper used the technique to well-structured localize the LP and segmentation of captured images is done by the ALPR system. We explained the localization of license plates by using the integrated segmentation method. ALPR system contains several well-observed skeletons like security administration, parking, vehicle identification, streets and road activity management, schedule of toll collecting framework, and so forth. There are various frameworks are present which are used for License plate capturing. The most important part of the ALPR framework is the accurate confinement of different number plates, recognition, and segmentation. By ALPR systems we can easily identify the number of vehicle plates. ANPR system also plays a crucial part in vehicle plate capturing and identification. This system helps in monitoring and tracking automobiles. In this paper, we have tried numerous techniques for traffic control and monitoring purposes which are works based on various techniques and methodologies. But ANPR primarily did their work for accuracy and template matching of vehicle number plates.

        Laser Polarization Effects on the Photodetachment Cross Section of H− Near a Reflecting Surface

        The influence of laser polarization angle on the photodetachment of H<sup>−</sup> near a reflecting surface is investigated based on a theoretical imaging technique. An analytical expression for the photodetachment cross section is derived. The photodetachment cross section of H<sup>−</sup> near a reflecting surface is found to be not only related to the inter-ion-surface distance and the photon energy but also the laser polarization angle <i>θ<sub>L</sub></i>. A strong oscillating structure is noted for <i>θ<sub>L</sub></i> = 0°. As the angle continues to increase, the oscillating structure diminishes, and for <i>θ<sub>L</sub></i> = 90°, the oscillating structure in the cross section reduces to a non-oscillating structure.

        Investigation of Tensile and Flexural Behavior of Green Composites along with their Impact Response at Different Energies

        Green composites can reduce the use of synthetic fibers in many applications. The motivation behind the fabrication of green composites is their excellent biodegradability and recyclability. However, fundamental issues related to green composites are their inferior mechanical properties and the reinforcement’s hydrophilic nature. This paper presents the hand layup technique to produce green composites containing different ratios of synthetic fiber (E-glass) and natural fiber (Jute). The mechanical properties were characterized as per ASTM standards. The impact strength was also investigated for different impact energies. In addition to this, the numerical simulations using ABAQUS were performed. The experimental results for tensile and flexural results were compared and validated with finite element analysis (FEA) results. An error of nearly 4% was observed between the numerical and experimental results. The microscopic analysis of fractured tensile specimens indicated that more pull out of jute fabric in high jute weight percentage composites was the leading cause of its lower tensile strength.

        <P>The present case report describes a case of chronic renal failure characterised by renal medullary fibrosis and renal papillary necrosis in a male Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica). A 12-year-old male Siberian tiger presented with depression, anorexia and weight loss. Blood urea nitrogen (&gt; 50.4 mmol/l) and ammonia (71.7 µmol/l) were increased, suggesting chronic renal failure and uraemia. The tiger died secondary to gastric haemorrhage. At necropsy, the kidneys had yellow lesions in the medulla and renal papillae and petechiae in the cortex. The stomach had multiple mucosal ulcers and haemorrhage. Microscopically, marked renal medullary fibrosis and renal papillary necrosis were observed with tubular atrophy, degeneration, coagulative necrosis, calcification and chronic inflammatory cell infiltration. The renal cortex showed moderate interstitial inflammation. The urinary bladder exhibited epithelial desquamation and submucosal fibrosis. The tiger was diagnosed with chronic renal failure secondary to renal papillary necrosis and medullary fibrosis.</P>

        Predicting numeric ratings for Google apps using text features and ensemble learning

        Application (app) ratings are feedback provided voluntarily by users and serve as important evaluation criteria for apps. However, these ratings can often be biased owing to insufficient or missing votes. Additionally, significant differences have been observed between numeric ratings and user reviews. This study aims to predict the numeric ratings of Google apps using machine learning classifiers. It exploits numeric app ratings provided by users as training data and returns authentic mobile app ratings by analyzing user reviews. An ensemble learning model is proposed for this purpose that considers term frequency/inverse document frequency (TF/IDF) features. Three TF/IDF features, including unigrams, bigrams, and trigrams, were used. The dataset was scraped from the Google Play store, extracting data from 14 different app categories. Biased and unbiased user ratings were discriminated using TextBlob analysis to formulate the ground truth, from which the classifier prediction accuracy was then evaluated. The results demonstrate the high potential for machine learning-based classifiers to predict authentic numeric ratings based on actual user reviews.

        Ionic liquids based fluorination of organic compounds using electrochemical method

        Ionic liquids due to their advantageous properties gain importance in many fields. This study aims tooverview the use of ionic liquids in the selective partial fluorination of organic compounds throughelectrochemical method. In addition to ionic liquid based fluorination, the earlier approaches offluorination through an electrochemical process have also been highlighted. The factors such aselectrode materials (Pt, Ni, and C), types of solvents (CH3CN, DMC, THF, DME, Sulfone, etc.) and type ofelectrolytes (Et3N 3HF, Et3NF 3HF, py HF, etc.) which affect the electrochemical fluorination of organiccompounds have been reviewed. For electrode preparation, the carbon, platinum and nickel wereconsidered suitable materials to be used as an electrode. In CH3CN media, Et3N 3HF and Et4NF 3HFshowed better efficiency during fluorination of organic compounds. Solvent play an important role inelectrochemical fluorination of organic compounds, with the change of solvent the percentage yield ishighly affected. Py-HF is a convenient solvent-supporting electrolyte medium with a reasonably goodconductivity. The electrolyte containing solvents have some side effects on electrochemical fluorinationof organic compounds as observed in cyclic voltammetric analysis. Therefore electrochemicalfluorination to organic compounds without the use of solvent gained more importance. The ionicliquids have been reported for its dual properties, as solvent as well as a fluorinating agent for organiccompounds in electrochemical processes. It has been concluded that solvents free electrochemicalfluorination of organic compounds gives good results as compare to solvent based. Ionic liquids due tomore oxidative stability were noted to have considerable effect on the yield and selectivity of organiccompound fluorination.
