In order to study the effects of administrated in the oral cavity pyung yue san to the mucus Secreting cell in the gastric of the Rat weight about 200g and P. A. S. Reaction observed results were as follows 1) Mucus secreting of superficial epithelium increased after 48 hours strongly P.A.S. positive 2) There is no different in the gastric foveola 3) Mucus secreting increased in the fundic gland between 24 hours and 48 hours 4) Mucus contents of mucus secreting cell, m the fundic. gland decreased 24 hours and 48 hours.

자라 Amyda maackii BRAUT의 췌장 내분비세포에 관한 세포화학적 연구

Cellular composition of the pancreatic islets in the freshwater turtle Amyda maackii BRAUT were studied under cytochemical technique. The results obtained are as follow ; 1. Lots of blood vessels are distributed in the pancreas of the freshwater turtle and the pancreatic endocrine cells constitute the islet at the periphery of the blood vessel. 2. The pancreatic islets are not surrounded with connective tissue capsule. 3. The pancreatic endocrine cells consist of B, A_1 and A, cells and then for the most part of the pancreatic islet are composed of only B cells or A cells. 4. B cells have the AF positive secretory granule in apical portion and A_1 cells have the cytoplasmic process for various direction. 5. A lot of endocrine cells are observed in the pancreatic exocrine tissue.

This experiment was performed into investigate the effect of Bambusae Caulis and Raphani Semen on the diabetic rats induced by streptozotocin. Experimenal diabetes was induced by 55㎎/㎏ of streptozotocin injection and administered Bambusae Caulis and Raphani Semen extract during 3 days after streptozotocin injection. Glucagon and insulin granules in Langerhans islets were stained by use of immunohistochemical method and observed the relative amount of the each granules in Langerhans islet by light microscope and image analysis system. The results obtained are as follows: 1. Area % of insulin granules in Langerhans islets of Bamhusae Caulis extract adminstration group increased and showed the statistically significant difference with the control group at 7th day and 14th day. 2. Area % of insulin granules in Langerhans islets of Raphani Semen extract adminstration group increased and showed the statistically significant difference with the control group at 14th day. 3. Area % of glucagon granules in Langerhans islets of Raphani Semen extract adminstration group decreased and showed the statistically significant difference with the control group at 14th day. With the above result, we know that Bambusae Caulis and Raphani Semen has a control effect on glucagon and insulin granules in Langerhans islets of diabetic rats induced by streptozotocin.

In order to study the effect of cantharides extract on the mucous cell in the mice intestine, the experimental animals were injected with 0.04 mg. per gm. body weight of cantharides extract through intraperitoneally. They were sacrificed by ether anesthesia and obtained from distal and proximal portions of the small intestine and colon, and fixed in 10% neutral formol. After embedded in paraffin, sectioned in 7 micra thickness, and stained with PAS (periodic acid Schiff's) reaction. The average number of the mucous cell was counted in each specimen over 10 fields under 450 magnification. The following results were obtained; 1. The average number of mucous cell decreased from 1 hr. after injection, and were reduced progressively by time lapsed. 2. The average number of mucous cell showed the lowest value at 48 brs. and began increase at 96 hrs. after injection. 3. The normal mucous cell (A and B types) decreased with lapse of time after injection, but mature discharged cell (C -type) increased. 4. According to the above findings, it is presumed that cantharides extract accelerate discharge of mucin in mature mucous cells but inhibit the production of mucin in growing mucous cells.
