The purpose of this study was to examinate on the relationships between morphological characteristic and satisfaction of body images in female dancers. The body image(satisfaction of body image) is a multidimensional construct broadly describing internal subjective representations of physical appearance and bodily experience. In this study 75 female dancer completed the measurement by restricted profiles of ISAK and Body Esteem ScaIe(BES) by Franzoi & ShieIds(1984). To assess of the relationships between morphological characteristic and satisfaction of body images in female dancer ANOVA and Pearson's correlation analysis were used. The results of this study was follows. There are significant relationships between body composition variables and satisfaction of body images in female dancer. Also there are significant relationships between morphological characteristic and satisfaction of body images in female dancer.

Background: Besides prostacyclin and nitric oxide, the endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factor (EDHF), which is another distinct endothelium-dependent vasodilator, is involved in relaxing the vascular smooth muscle cells. The myoendothelial gap junction (MEGJ) and female sex hormone play important roles in the EDHF-mediated responses. Therefore, this study was designed to determine the influence of gender on the gap junctional distribution and endothelium-dependent vasodilation in the rat mesenteric arteries. Methods: Male and female Sprague-Dawley rat were euthanized and the tertiary branch of the mesenteric artery was harvested. Immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopic examination of the arterial wall were performed after treating them with specific antibodies to delineate the distribution of connexin 43, a gap junctional protein. Segments of the mesenteric artery, 5 mm in length, were connected to two tungsten wires under isometric tension. The arterial segments were suspended in a modified Krebs solution (37℃) aerated with 95% O2 and 5% CO2 in a vertical water-jacketed temperature-controlled tissue bath. The standard dose-response curve for acetylcholine (10-9-10-5 M) was drawn in the presence of the NO synthase inhibitor, Nω-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME; 10-4 M) plus indomethacin (10-5 M) and/or gap junctional inhibitor, carbenoxolone (10-4 M). Results: In the female rat mesenteric artery, the gap junctional plagues were more prevalent particularly along the endothelial layer. The inhibition of the relaxation response to acetylcholine was depressed in the presence of L-NAME plus indomethacin and augmented in the presence of carbenoxolone when compared with the male rat mesenteric arteries (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Gender differences in the rat mensenteric arteries have an effect on the expression of connexin 43 and the release of EDHF through MEGJ may play a key role in controlling the female arterial tone. Background: Intramuscular stimulation (IMS) shows good results in the treatment of chronic pain patients who did not respond to other treatments such as oral analgesics, trigger point injection, nerve block and epidural steroid injection. Fluoroscopy Guided Interventional Musculoskeletal Adhesiolysis and Nerve Stimulation (FIMS) was used to stimulate the correct anatomic point using fluoroscopy. We present the results of FIMS in spinal stenosis. Methods: 106 patients with ages ranging from 39 to 87 years were enrolled in this study. All the patients were postoperatively evaluated for the clinical outcomes such as numeric rating scale (NRS) for pain at 1 month, reduction in the analgesics dose, and the overall satisfaction rate. The patients considered to have received clinical benefit from FIMS were evaluated for the recurrence of pain by either a follow-up or telephone interview. Results: FIMS reduced the level of pain compared with the pretreatment (P < 0.001). In addition, 61% of patients reported that they were satisfied. There were no procedural related serious complications. Three months after FIMS, there was continuing pain relief in 50% of the patients treated successfully. Conclusions: FIMS is a safe and effective treatment modality for spinal stenosis. (Korean J Anesthesiol 2006; 51: 82~8)

Background: We investigated the effect of spinal cord stimulation on intractable chronic pain retrospectively and report our 5-year experience. Methods: 49 patients with the medical history of trial spinal cord stimulation have been retrospectively analyzed. They consist of 34 men and 15 women, ranging in age from 22 to 89 years. Causes of intractable chronic pain included postherpetic neuralgia, failed back surgery syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, chronic back and leg pain, cauda equina syndrome, perineal pain, diabetic polyneuropathy, and spinal cord injury. Results: The pain due to failed back surgery syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, chronic low back and leg pain, and spinal cord injury was well controlled by using spinal cord stimulation system. After a trial period of stimulation, 20 patients had permanent stimulators implanted. Most of them reported satisfactory pain relief for maximum 60 months and minimum 9 months. Noticeable complications included electrode displacement and hemorrhage. Conclusions: We may suggest that spinal cord stimulation is an effective and safe therapy for chronic intractable pain. This study has re-examined the history of development of Dance sports and its Korean social status. The difficulties that it is facing at the moment should be corrected in order to follow the example of the international standard. At the beginning of distribution, Ball room dance was danced according to the correct method. However, the dance was regarded with the prejudice and strict sense of moral. Under the watchful eyes of the world, the sport should be improved to fit our circumstances in view of the fact that it is now recognized as an Olympic sport. The following is a list of projects that must be fulfilled in order to accomplish the duty as a member country of IDSF. 1. Organization of a united body of Korean Dance sports 2. Establishment of a correct term of Dance sports 3. Unification of procedure for nurturing dance teachers including government approved Community sports director 4. Revision of law regarding public moral trade regulation 5. Bringing up of young dancers with high potential 6. Healthy Promotion of the dance under the cooperation of the media The advantages of Dance sport can only be highlighted when the whole community has a brighter look on it. With the distinct characteristic of our nation, a strong improvement can be expected in the sport of dance.

This study examined the history of Western modern dance and also the history of modern dance of Korea, including the import of and distribution of modern dance into this country and especially its transformation during the 1980s in order to foresee the future direction that must be taken to strengthen its roots and improve further. The following are some of the conclusions. 1.So called "new dance" was developed under the teachings of Sunghi Choi and Taekwon Cho. Although the dance had its basis on traditional ideas, there was a constant resistance against the dance by those who thought it too western. 2.Through the hard work of two dancers, the dance continued to thrive. 3.In the art philosophical point of view, fresh recognition and various attempts at approaching the subject will lead to improvement of modern dance and move towards stage performance and pursuit of dance as an academic field will prepare a footing for further betterment of dance in the 21st century. 4.Major phenomena surrounding Korean modern dance, i.e., increase in the number of Dance departments in universities, increase in the quality and quantity of dancers and international recognition of dancers, can be seen as positive changes toward future dance scene of Korea. 5.Post-modernity of Korean modern dance will remain an important topic for study. 6.It would not be necessary for Korean modern dance to develop to lost the "liberation" and renaissance" sides of the dance. 7.Korean modern dance should be examined closely by comparing it with traditional and post-modernism dance. 8.Internationalization of modern dance should be achieved through active invitation of foreign dancers with international stature and internationalization of Korean modern dance.
