In this paper, we designed of a temperature controller in the water-tank system using Receding horizon control(RHC). The system consists two water tanks which are connected with two pipes. There are a water-pump in a pipe to circulate water between two tanks. Our goal is to maintain a desired temperature in a tank by controlling temperature of the other tank. The temperature control system, which has a large time delay, a nonlinear temperature characteristics, perturbations, disturbances, was designed based on Receding horizon control(RHC) with a terminal output weighting of its stochastic state model. In this paper, we showed that RHC could easily be applied for the system to track the desired temperature, because it took the receding horizon strategy for both controller and filter.
