The objective of this study was to find out the optimum number of fruiting per a flower cluster on 5 domestic strawberry cultivars (Fragaria${\times}$ananassa Duch.), 'Daewang', 'Ssanta', 'Okmae', 'Seolhyang' and 'Maehyang'. Therefore, three ways of fruit thinning, 4~5 fruiting, 7~9 fruiting and all fruiting per a flower cluster were compared. After fruit thinning, the first fruit weights were increased from the second flower cluster on 'Seolhyang' and 'Maehyang', but from the third one on 'Daewang' and 'Ssanta'. There was no difference in first fruit weight by the flower thinning ways on 'Okmae'. The mean fruit weights of all the cultivars were increased and sugar contents also were increased, but acidities were decreased. The peduncle lengths were shortened by fruit thinning, but there was no difference in number of leaf, petiole length and crown diameter. Marketable yields by 4~5 fruiting per a flower cluster than all the fruit setting were higher 4.3% and 6.6% respectively on 'Daewang' and 'Maehyang'. In contrast, the yields were higher 3.1%, 3.5% and 9.1% in 7~9 fruiting per a flower cluster than all fruiting on 'Ssanta', 'Okmae' and 'Seolhyang' respectively. As the result, we could improve the fruit quality and could increase marketable yield by fruit thinning with matching flowering characteristics of those strawberry cultivars.

본 연구는 교사의 전문성 향상을 위한 등호 개념에 대한 교사의 지식을 알아보는데 있다. 이를 위하여 등호 개념에 대한 초등학교 교사의 지식을 내용 지식과 교수 지식으로 나누어 분석 하였다. 연구문제를 해결하기 위하여 대구광역시 달서구에 소재하는 P초등학교에서 저, 중, 고학년을 담당하는 교사 3명을 연구대상으로 하여 등호에 대한 교사 지식 분석을 위한 질문지를 개발하여 반구조화 된 면담, 수업관찰, 비디오촬영 등을 통해 각 교사의 지식을 알아보았다. 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 학생들의 등호 개념 지도 시 필요한 교사 지식에 대한 정보를 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다.

Translation Studies (TS) are interdisciplinary by nature, and because of this characteristic, TS scholars tend to adopt and employ different terms in describing and accounting for the same concepts and phenomena. The lexical choices they make in so doing reflect the intellectual training they have received and the diverse disciplines in which they were originally schooled. The immediate consequence is that speaking the same language and communicating based upon an agreed-upon set of terms remains elusive within the discipline of TS. The present paper attempts to rekindle the dormant discussion on the need for standardization in the use of terms in TS. After reviewing 95 academic articles published in the past two years in Korea, an enumeration of specific cases of the use of competing Korean terms in describing a phenomenon in question will be presented. Examples are classified into two categories: one representing binary error cases, which involve obvious errors, and one that delimits the range of alternatives in the use of terms. Following this is a section entitled “Issues to be resolved in order to facilitate the establishment of standardized terms”. The respective merits and demerits of competing terms are weighed in an effort to contribute constructively to building a consensus on the use of specific terms. The list of terms includes 'the translator, ‘role definition of the translator, assessment/evaluation of translation quality’, among many others.

With intercultural communication-related aspects of translation and the functionalist approach to translation emerging as the two dominant research foci in translation studies, there still exists a need to explore a more fundamental issue in translation: translating languages. This paper sets out to explore the different sets of factors respectively intervening in the translation process involving two identical working languages with different combination directionality. The first section addresses the need to conduct research on translating languages, and the need to approach the translating process via analyses of translations as end-products. Then a new measurement unit, translated text expansion rate, is introduced, along with a justification of its employment in this study. A range of variable candidates, identified through a review of literature, with the potential to exert an influence and bring about different translational behaviors of texts, were used as the parameters in the present analysis. The third section introduces the research design, employing analyses of variance (ANOVA) of 316 texts in 156 text pairs. Following the analysis results and their implications for translation education, the conclusion summarizes the research design and findings, and duly acknowledges the limitations of the present study.
통번역학 연구 대상으로서의 통번역정책 - ‘번역청’ 설립 및 통역사 인증제 도입 정책연구에 대한 메타 분석 -

Despite the fact that Holmes (1988) included interpreting and translation policy research in his seminal ‘map of translation studies’ (TS), translation policy research has been excluded at times or neglected most of the time in TS. Using a meta-analysis approach, this paper aims to depict the topology of related research efforts and identify characteristics and trends thereof by analyzing a total of 1,758 papers locally published in TS. Specifically, the data was analyzed with a view to identifying publication trends of respective academic journals in the field and year-by-year publication trends of related articles. The results were then compared with (1) related national research projects and (2) relevant policy discussion forums organized by the National Assembly of Korea in order to uncover any correlations between the data and the events. By way of conclusion, the analysis results were summarized, discussed, and followed by a policy suggestion to galvanize research in translation policy topics, and aid future policy endeavors to establish and operate a new governmental body in charge of public-sector interpreting and translation.

Experts agree that two approaches should be adopted in a foreign language classroom: integrating the four main language skills, i.e., listening, reading, speaking, and writing, and helping students relieve their anxiety. To address both needs, this paper proposes and examines a new approach to foreign language teaching: incorporating translation/interpretation practice into the foreign language classroom. The potential of translation/ interpretation as a pedagogical instrument in foreign language teaching is three-fold. Firstly, it helps create a learning environment where students can use language in a communicative environment with many specific contextual clues. Secondly, it helps students feel mentally less burdened because translation/interpretation does not involve a creative production of a new text with new information, and instead asks students to process already given information. Thirdly, incorporating translation/interpretation into the teaching of a foreign language is an effective way of triggering the four main language skills at the same time in the foreign language classroom. With these assumptions, this paper attempts to explore the potential of translation/interpretation activity as a pedagogical instrument of foreign language teaching with an experiment implemented in an undergraduate translation/ interpretation classroom. Following the introduction in Chapter 1, Chapter 2 recaps relevant research results on the anxiety factor in the foreign language classroom, the need to approach language teaching in a communication-promoting way, and the effectiveness of integrating the four main language skills. Chapter 3 introduces the experiment design focusing on a comparison in subjective comfort and sense of achievement between a control and an experimental group when asked to perform a spontaneous speech on a specific topic chosen in relation to a pre-announced broader subject area. Chapter 4 discusses the experiment results with possible explanation proposals. The conclusion summarizes the implications of the present experiment for foreign language pedagogy, followed by the limitations of the present research together with future research issues along these lines.

'씨베리' 품종은 농촌진흥청 국립원예특작과학원 시설원예시험장에서 2013년도 육성한 국내 최초의 일계성 딸기 $F_1$ 품종이다. '씨베리' 품종을 육성하기 위해 2004년부터 국내 보유 유전자원 중 특성이 우수한 품종들을 선발하여 약 10여 년에 걸쳐 주요 형질별로 근교계통을 육성하였다. 이중 고경도의 특성을 가진 근교계통인 '원교3115호'를 교배모본으로 하고 수량성과 과형이 우수한 근교계통인 '원교3116호'를 화분친으로 하여 $F_1$ 일대잡종 '씨베리' 품종을 육성하였다. '씨베리' 품종을 종자로 재배하기 위해서는 관부 직경이 10mm 이상이 되도록 육묘하고 정식하여야 제 특성을 나타낼 수 있다. '씨베리'의 초형은 직립형이고 잎은 타원형이다. 초세는 영양번식 개체보다는 다소 약한 경향이고 화방당 꽃수는 12-15개, 화아분화는 대조품종과 비교하여 중간 정도의 특성을 나타낸다. '씨베리' 품종의 과실 특성을 보면 과형은 원추형, 과색은 연한 적색이고 평균과중은 15-16g 내외이다. 수량은 대조품종인 '아키히메' 품종의 92% 수준으로 다소 적은 경향이고 당도는 $9.7^{\circ}Bx$, 산도는 0.6%로 맛은 새콤달콤한 경향을 나타낸다. 병해충 저항성은 흰가루병에는 약하나 탄저병에는 강하고 진딧물과 응애는 다소 약한 것으로 나타났다.

This paper purports to explore the Interpretive Theory of Translation, or the Theory of Sense, as an integrated model in the field of Translation Studies. First, claims in favor of developing and establishing integrated models, together with their respective rationales, will be reviewed and contrasted to 'theoretical particularism' models. Requirements for integrated models will be identified as the basis for evaluating the validity and explanatory power of the theory in question. The second part of the discussion will be devoted to putting the theoretical fabric of the theory in perspective. The 'triangular model' of translation and its key components, i.e., deverbalization and reformulation, will be looked at in depth. Anchor concepts such as actualization and cognitive complements will also be addressed in the context of the translation process. It will be shown along the way that the approach originally concerned with conference interpretation basically meets the requirements of an integrated model: the comprehensibility of the study's scope, the explanatory power to account for the 'triad of (translation) situation, process, and its product,' and the incorporation of seemingly disparate and diverse aspects of translation in its integrative theoretical framework. The conclusion will indicate the need for complementing what can be seen as a superficial 'armchair theory' with efforts to articulate the claims so as to accommodate the need for more rigorous empirical verification in the future.

Translation revision refers to an act of checking and making changes to a translated text in terms of its grammaticality, abiding by prevalent linguistic and textual rules, style, information distribution and flow, among other things. Considering that translation as a first run‐through is bound to be filled with traces of linguistic influence from the source language, translation revision should be an integral part of quality translation. Given the difficulty the translator experiences to secure oneself an effective translation revision by others, it is imperative to incorporate self‐editing and self‐revision skills as part of translator competence. Likewise, how to teach self‐editing and self‐revision should be a legitimate concern in translation education. This paper introduces the student revision workshop as a fruitful tool with which to teach translation revision to translators in training. Section 1 summarizes the role of translation revision in a student revision workshop. Specifically, the definition of student revision workshop, its underlying foundation and the organizational preparations needed are briefly discussed. Section 2 discusses the workshop procedures and offers a theoretical overview of the key concepts of translation, and a proposed list of students’ tasks. The cases of flawed translations are presented in most of Section 3 in two categories: content‐oriented concerns and form‐related revisions, and the remaining part of Section 3 is devoted to student findings and discussions thereof. Section 4 concludes the paper by highlighting the need for advance preparation and organization in order to make the workshop a success, together with some suggestions for future studies.
국내 문학번역과 문학번역비평 연구의 위상 - 2002~2022년 국내외 연구동향 메타 분석

The Korean Wave, or Hallyu, has been continuously expanding its scope of influence to move beyond the bounds of the pop culture of Korea, e.g., K-POP, K-FOOD, and K-DRAMA, to include more sophisticated art forms, such as Korean movies and literature. As evidenced by the not-so-short list of Korean authors who have won global literary awards, Korean literature translated into diverse languages has been met with an enthusiastic reception worldwide. Unfortunately, however, research on literary translation has yet to be accumulated accordingly. The present study, a meta-analysis of the research publications during the past two decades until 2022 on Korea’s literary translation, reports on the characteristics of research trends, including key topics and methodologies. The changes in the research foci show that research on outbound translation, or translations from Korean to foreign languages, has outweighed that on inbound translation, or translations into Korean, since 2016, and that ‘the translator,’ the primary agent of translating, tends to receive greater attention accordingly. The comparison between 262 Korean and 362 overseas research articles during the period under review reveals that researchers, Korean and foreign alike, tend to converge on research topics. The core topics of Korean researchers, however, center around ‘linguistic/cultural mediation,’ whereas the most frequent choice among foreign researchers is ‘translation and society,’ which highlights the interdisciplinary nature of research in Translation Studies. The conclusion emphasizes the lack of a critical stance vis-a-vis literary translations in terms of evaluation criteria and a need to strengthen literary translation criticism for a broader reception of Korean literature abroad.
