Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Korean medical treatment on a patient with relapsing transverse myelitis. Methods : The patient was treated using acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, herbal medicine and other treatments including moxibustion and therapeutic exercise for 8 weeks. We evaluated the patient's motor grade with medical research council(MRC) scale and evaluated active range of motion in the hip, knee, and anke joint. Results : Through treatment the patient's motor grade and active range of motion all improved. Other symptoms such as lower limb hypoesthesia and residual urine sensation also showed improvement. Conclusions : We concluded that Korean medicine treatment had respectable effect in improving symptoms on the patient with relapsing transverse myelitis.

Single photon detector technologies have emerged as powerful tools in optical quantum information applications such as quantum communication, quantum information, and integrated quantum photonics. Owing to significant attempts in the previous decade at improving photon-counting detectors, several single photon detectors with high efficiency and low noise have been realized within the optical wavelength regime. In this paper, we provide an overview of current studies on single photon detectors operating at wavelengths from the ultraviolet to the infrared. In addition, we discuss applications of single photon detector technologies in quantum communication and integrated quantum photonics.
성견에서 국산 임시 임플란트의 골 유착반응에 관한 연구

Purpose: Recently, dental implant systems have been widely used for the treatment of the extraction site, but we have been confronted with many limitations in esthetics, phonetics and function. Transitional implants(TI) were developed as a method of providing fixed provisional restorations during conventional implant healing. Until now, little data have been provided on korean transitional implants. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the implant placement site histologically after 4 weeks and 8 weeks. Materials and Methods : Test group( IntermetzzoTM MEGAGEN, KOREA) and control group(Mini Drive Lock, Intra Rock, U.S.A.) were immediately placed in interseptal or interproximal bone of beagle dog after mandibular premolars extraction, and had a healing period with non-submerged state but without loading, Both TI surfaces were composed of rough surfaces. Results: In the test group, the average percentage of BIC were respectively 39.40%(SD7.35) after 4 weeks and 44.05%(16.76) after 8 weeks, and In the control group were 50.75%(1.48) and 59.40%(0.00). Discussion: We evaluated the initial ability of the osseointegration of TI through this study. Because TI is placed with a conventional implant simultaneously and loaded immediately, the ability of osseointegration is a very important factor for the success of TI during the initial healing phase. Conclusion: The results of the histological evaluation of these two groups were similar to those mentioned in other studies for osseointegration of implant.

For getting primary cue of restoration, the algal flora and intertidal community structure of Deokjeokdo, Yeonpyeongdo and Ganghwado were investigated for from February to November 2006. The total of 28 species, including five Chlorophytes, five Phaeophytes, 17 Rhodophytes and one sea grass were identified. The occurrence of species according to sampling site was 22 species in Deokjeokdo, seven species in Yeonpyeongdo and four species in Ganghwado. Among them Gloiopeltis furcata, Ulva pertusa and Sargassum horneri in Deokjeokdo, Scytosiphon lomentaria in Yeonpyeongdo, Enteromorpha prolifera in Ganghwado were ominants. The algal zonation of intertidal zone was figured out by Gloiopeltis furcata, Caulacanthus okamurae – Corallina pilulifera – Ulva pertusa, Ahnfeltiopsis flabelliformis, Sargassum horneri, Undaria pinnatifida in Deokjeokdo, Bangia atropurpurea – Scytosiphon lomentaria – Ahnfeltiopsis flablleiformis in Yeonpyeongdo from upper to lower zone and Enteromorpha prolifera, Enteromorpha linza – Sargassum thunbergii, Myelophycus simplex in Ganghwado from middle to lower zone. The average of biomass was measured as 80.6 g dry wt. m–2 in Deokjeokdo, 32.2 g dry wt. m–2 in Yeonpyeongdo and less than 1 g dry wt. m–2 in Ganghwado.

국내 서해안 파랑 관측자료를 이용한 대표주기 산정 및 최적 확률밀도함수 추정

본 연구에서는 서해안 해상기상타워 2기에서 관측된 수면변동자료를 이용하여 해양특성을 구분하는 주요 인자인 첨두주기 T<SUB>p</SUB>와 평균주기 T<SUB>02</SUB>와 T<SUB>m-1, 0</SUB>를 산정하고 이상자료의 비율, 상관관계 분석 및 최적 확률밀도함수를 추정하였다. 산정된 대표주기 중 첨두주기의 경우, 이상 자료의 비율은 각각의 지점에서 5.73 %, 0.67 %로 나타났으며, T<SUB>02</SUB>는 4.35%, 0.01%, T<SUB>m-1, 0</SUB>는 2.82%, 0.03%로 나타났다. 한편, T<SUB>02</SUB>와 T<SUB>p</SUB> 사이의 관계를 분석한 결과 각 지점별로 0.53, 0.63의 관계로 산정됐으며, T<SUB>m-1, 0</SUB>와 T<SUB>p</SUB>의 관계는 각각 1.15, 1.32로 나타났다. T<SUB>02</SUB>와 T<SUB>m-1, 0</SUB>는 서로 1.18, 1.22의 관계를 보이고 있었다. 산정된 대표주기의 최적 확률밀도함수를 추정한 결과, Tp는 각각의 지점에서 ‘Lognormal’, ‘Normal’ 분포를 따르고 있었으며, T<SUB>02</SUB>는 ‘Gamma’, ‘Normal’ 분포, T<SUB>m-1, 0</SUB>는 각각 ‘Log-normal’, ‘Normal’ 분포가 우세한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 서해안을 대상으로 수행되는 파랑 분석에 기초자료로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. In this study, the peak wave period T<SUB>p</SUB> and mean wave period T<SUB>02</SUB> and Tm<SUB>-1, 0</SUB>, which are major parameters for classifying ocean characteristics, were calculated using water surface elevation data observed from the second west coast oceanographic and meteorological observation tower. In addition, the ratio of abnormal data, correlation analysis, and optimal probability density function were estimated. In the case of T<SUB>p</SUB> among the calculated representative periods, the proportion of abnormal data was 5.73% and 0.67% at each point, and T<SUB>02</SUB> was 4.35% and 0.01%. T<SUB>m-1, 0</SUB> was found to be 2.82% and 0.03%. Meanwhile, as a result of analyzing the relationship between T02 and T<SUB>p</SUB>, the relationship was calculated to be 0.53 and 0.63 for each point. The relationship between T<SUB>m-1, 0</SUB> and T<SUB>p</SUB> was 1.15 and 1.32, respectively, and T<SUB>02</SUB>, T<SUB>m-1, 0</SUB> was 1.18 and 1.22. As a result of estimating the optimal probability density function of the calculated representative period, T<SUB>p</SUB> followed the ‘Log-normal’ and ‘Normal’ distributions at each point, and T<SUB>02</SUB> was ‘Gamma’, ‘Normal’ distribution and T<SUB>m-1, 0</SUB> showed that ‘Log-normal’ and ‘Normal’ distribution were dominant, respectively. It is decided that these results can be used as basic data for wave analysis conducted on the west coast.
