A nuclear plant ESF ACS simulator was designed, built, and verified to perform experiment related to ESF ACS of nuclear power plants. The dimension of 3D CAD model was based on drawings of the main control room(MCR) of Yonggwang units 5 and 6. The CFD analysis was performed based on the measurement of the actual flow rate of ESF ACS. The air flowing in ACS was assumed to have $30^{\circ}C$ and uniform flow. The flow rate across the HEPA filter was estimated to be 1.83 m/s based on the MCR ACS flow rate of 12,986 CFM and HEPA filter area of 9 filters having effective area of $610{\times}610mm^2$ each. When MCR ACS was modeled, air flow blocking filter frames were considered for better simulation of the real ACS. In CFD analysis, the air flow rate in the lower part of the active carbon adsorber was simulated separately at higher than 7 m/s to reflect the measured value of 8 m/s. Through the CFD analyses of the ACSes of fuel building emergency ventilation system, emergency core cooling system equipment room ventilation cleanup system, it was confirmed that all three EFS ACSes can be simulated by controlling the flow rate of the simulator. After the CFD analysis, the simulator was built in nuclear grade and its reliability was verified through air flow distribution tests before it was used in main tests. The verification result showed that distribution of the internal flow was uniform except near the filter frames when medium filter was installed. The simulator was used in the tests to confirm the revised contents in Reg. Guide 1.52 (Rev. 3).

U. S. NRC Regulation Guide 1.52 regulating ESF ACS in nuclear power plants has been revised to revision 3. To apply reduction of operability test time, allowance of alternative challenge agents for in-place leak test of HEPA filters, and upgrade of Methyl Iodide penetration acceptance criterion in activated carbon performance test suggested in Reg. Guide 1.52(Rev.3) on Yonggwang units 5 and 6 ESF ACSes, technical feasibility study was carried out with on-site experiments as well as experiments with a lab-scale model. It was confirmed that the moisture in the system returned to the level before the test in 1 or 4 days even though the moisture was removed during the operability test lasting more than 10 hours. Therefore, it is appropriate to perform monthly operability test in 15 minutes just long enough to check the operability of equipment. To change challenge material for in-place HEPA filter leak test, size of aerosol, production rate, and leak detection capability were compared for DOP and PAO. It was concluded that PAO can be substituted for DOP in nuclear power plants. The upgrade of Methyl Iodide penetration acceptance criterion from 0.175 % to 0.5 % in active carbon filter bed deeper than 4 inches was to conform to the change of activated carbon performance test method to ASTM D3803(1989). It was confirmed that Methyl Iodide penetration acceptance criterion of 0.5 % under $30^{\circ}C$, relative humidity 95 % condition was conservatively good enough for testing performance of active carbon insitu. The licence change of Yonggwang units 5 and 6 has been completed based on this study.

Purpose: This study explores the experience of university life in an unfamiliar department by first-year graduate students. Method: Data were collected from participants through focus group interviews between July and August 2013 using phenomenological research methods. Colsizzi’s method was used for analysis after the institutional review board of the university approved the study and informed consent was obtained from the participants. All interviews were recorded on an MP3 recorder and transcribed. Results: The analysis revealed 51 meanings that were categorized by 15 key words into 6 themes: “sense of isolation,” “feeling of solidarity,” “limitations,” “benefits,” “overcoming” and “renewing.” Conclusion: First-year graduate students experience both positive and negative feelings toward “university life”; however, they eventually overcome their difficulties and adapt to the conditions of their field of study and new department.

Cirsoid aneurysm of the calp is a congenital arteriovenous malformation which is the result of abnormal connections betwe:.n the external carotid artery and scalp veins with a subsequent dilatation of vascular channels nd formation of aneurysm. We report a case of cirsoid aneurysm of the scalp on the left parieto-occipital area of 14-year-old female who had had 8 x 5 x 0.8 cm sized pulsating soft mass for 2 years. 4 vessel angiog raphy revealed a arteriovenous malformation that emerge mainly from a superficial temporal artery and occipital artery of the left external carotid artery and partially from the right superficial temporal artery and drined into the left scalp vein. The mass was removed by excision with ligation of the feeding arter es and followed up for 2 years without recurrence. (Kor J Dermatol 1995;33(5): 940-944)

Purpose: The study was designed to develop an instrument to measure risk factor-related deviant behavior (RFRDB) for the elderly. Methods: The preliminary instrument including 52 items to measure the risk factor-related deviant behavior for the elderly was developed through conceptual framework based literature review. The items were reviewed by experts to reveal the Content Validity Index (CVI). Then, construct validity and reliability were tested using factor analysis, comparative groups, and Cronbach’s alpha with data from 233 elderly. Results: Among 52 items, 27 questions in the RFRDB instrument were selected from content validity and 21 questions in the final RFRDB were developed from testing validity and reliability. Results of empirical analysis(retest) of RFRDB were supported by 70% congruity with conceptual framework through literature review. The RFRDB has been completed by validity testing by known-group technique. The final developed RFRDB of the elderly has 21 questions each with a 4-point Likert Scale. Conclusion: The RFRDB may be utilized as a measurement to assess the risk of elderly deviant behavior.

Background: The efficacy of tumescent liposuction in the treatment of axillary osmidrosis has been widely established. But there have been few studies that have conducted a comparative analysis according to the level of dermal curettage with respect to the efficacy and safety. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy and complications of tumescent liposuction according to the degree of dermal curettage. Methods: From September 2004 through August 2009, a total of 33 patients with axillary osmidrosis (66 axillae) were included in this study. Twelve patients (24 axillae) were treated by tumescent liposuction with dermal curettage at the level of the mid-dermis (the classical technique group), and the other 21 patients (42 axillae) were treated by tumescent liposuction with dermal curettage at the level of the dermo-subcutis junction (the modified technique group). The preoperative and postoperative disease severity was measured as 0, 1, 2 and 3. The improvement of symptoms was graded by the patient as excellent, good, fair and poor. We also evaluated the postoperative complications, including skin necrosis, scar, hematoma, sensory disturbance and infection. Biopsies of the axillary skin were performed in 7 patients to confirm the level of dermal curettage and the reduction of apocrine glands after treatment. Results: The follow-up ranged from 6 to 60 months. Six months after treatment, 95.8% (23/24) of the axillae in the classical technique group and 95.2% (40/42) of the axillae in the modified technique group had reduced disease severity below 1. Among the 12 patients treated with the classical technique, 11 (91.7%) had excellent to good results, while 95.2% (20/21) of the patients treated with the modified technique had excellent to good results by the patients` own grading. The complications included skin necrosis, scar and hematoma. In the classical technique group and the modified technique group, the incidence of skin necrosis was 12.5% (3/24) and 2.4% (1/42), respectively, the incidence of scar formation was 4.2% (1/24) and 0%, respectively, and the incidence of hematoma was 8.3% (2/24) and 0%, respectively. The postoperative histologic examinations confirmed that the dermal curettage level was at the mid-dermis in the classical technique and at the dermo-subcutis junction in the modified technique. Interestingly, the histologic examination from the classical technique group revealed vacuolar alteration of keratinocytes and partial separation of the dermo-epidermal junction. Conclusion: The efficacy of the modified technique is compatible with that of the classical technique, but the modified technique offers fewer complications. So, the modified technique may improve the cosmetic outcome without reducing the treatment efficacy for the patient with axillary osmidrosis. (Korean J Dermatol 2010;48(9):741~748)
