For the cost reduction of a flat-plate solar collector, a new galvanized iron collectro plate replaced the convenctional copper or alnminum collector plates and the flow channel was also modified to a rectangular channel for a better heat transfer performance. A simple analytical model was developed and agreed well with the experimental results. The results show better thermal performance for a rectangular channel than for a conventional circular channel.

Electrothermal-Hollow Cathode Glow Discharge Spectrometry(Et-HCGDS)를 이용하여 살펴본 Air Emission에 관한 연구

회토류와 악티늄족 원소의 현장분석을 목적으로 휴대용 극미량 분석용 원자 분광계인 Electrothermal-Hollow Cathode Glow Discharge Spectrometry(Et-HCGDS)가 제작되었다.본 분광계의 기본 구조는 전기열과 글로우 방전에 기초를 두고 있으며 본 분광계가 미량의 원소분석에도 유용함을 실험적으로 살펴보았다. 본 연구는 새로이 제작된 Et-HCGDS라는 글로우방전 시스템을 사용하여 공기의 저온 플라스마를 만들고 여기서 얻은 공기의 방출 스펙스럼에 관하여 연구하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 Et-HCGDS를 사용할시에 공기가 흐름가스로 유용하며 이 경우 대기의 분석도 쉽게 이루어질 수 있음을 알았다. 글로우 방전을 이용하여 관찰한 공기의 방출 스펙트럼의 분석을 통하여 볼 때 거의 질소에 의한 방출이 전 자외선과 가시광선 영역에서 골고루 나타남을 살펴보았다. 공기를 흐름가스로 사용할 시에도 여러파장 영역에서 미량 분석이 가능함을 알았다. 이 결과는 앞으로 Et-HCGDS를 사용하여 현장에서 공기만을 사용하여 분석을 수행할 경우에 필요한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있으리라 본다. 본 연구에서 수행한 공기 방출 스펙트럼의 분석은 대기 분석 및 물질 분석에도 중요한 기초자료로 쓰이게 되리라 기대하며 이와 더불어 방출을 이용한 분광분석에서 공기로 인한 간섭 스펙트럼등을 이해하는 경우에도 중요한 참고자료로 활용되리라 본다. Electrothermal-Hollow Cathode Glow Discharge Spectrometry (Et-HCGDS) has been constructed in our laboratory for in-situ monitoring of traceble amounts of rare earth elements and actinides. Et-HCGDS is the portable glow discharge system that can perform the trace analysis of elements. The main structural design of Et-HCGDS was based upon the electrothermal heating and glow discharge techniques. More details on Et-HCGDS are available elsewhere. In this study, air was used as a flow gas for the glow discharge system. As a result, the emission spectra of air were collected and the assignment of air emission lines was performed with helps of pure nitrogen and oxygen emission spectra and previously published results. We found that the emission lines of air plasma were mainly due to nitrogen molecules. This paper includes the complete assignments of the air emission lines observed by using Et-HCGDS. Also, this study will be an useful reference for spectrochemical anaysis including air analysis.

The determination of solar collector area requires a thermal simulation to evaluate the performance of a solar house. This study comprises a simulation of system performance including a solar house, flat-plate collectors, a water type storage tank and an auxiliary heater. Developing the steady state performance equations of each equipment, and using the actual monthly average weather data for several recent years, this study evaluates the hourly performance of a solar house model. As a result, it is shown that the desirable collector area in Seoul is 1.4-1.6 times larger than the heating area in the case of non-selective surface, 0.8-1.0 times in the case of selective surface.

UWB 초고속 무선통신 시스템을 위한 FFT 프로세서 설계에 관한 연구

UWB 초고속 무선통신 시스템을 위한 MB-OFDM용 128-포인트 FFT 프로세서를 설계하였다. 128-포인트 FFT 프로세서는 Radix-2 FFT 알고리듬과 R2SDF 파이프라인 구조에 기초하고 있으며, VHDL을 이용하여 구현되었다. 그 결과는 Modelsim을 이용하여 검증되었으며, Xilinx Vertex-II FPGA를 이용하여 합성된 결과 18.7MHz의 동작주파수를 얻을 수 있었다. 제안된 128-포인트 FFT 프로세서는 병렬처리 되는 FFT 프로세서의 한 블록으로 이용될 수 있으며, 이를 이용하여 고속의 병렬처리 FFT 모듈이 구현될 수 있게 된다. 따라서 본 논문은 4개의 128-포인트 FFT 프로세서를 병렬로 연결하여 4배의 동작주파수를 얻을 수 있었으며, 결과적으로 MB-OFDM에서 요구되는 동작주파수 이상의 성능을 얻게 되었다. We design and synthesize a 128-point FFT processor for multi-band OFDM, which can be applied to a UWB transceiver. The structure of a 128-point FFT processor is based on a Radix-2 FFT algorithm and a R2SDF pipeline architecture. The algorithm is efficiently modeled in VHDL and the result is simulated using Modelsim. Finally, they are synthesized on Xilinx Vertex-II FPGA, and an operational frequency of 18.7MHz has been obtained. It is expected that the proposed 128-point FFT processor can be applied to an entire FFT block as one of parallel processed FFTs. In order to obtain the enhanced maximum frequency of operation, we design the FFT module consisting of four 128-point FFT processors for parallel process. As a result, we achieve the performance requirement of computing the FFT module in multi-band OFDM symbol timing in 90nm ASIC process.

Utilization of Demographic Analysis with IMDB User Ratings on the Recommendation of Movies

인터넷에서 매 순간 발생하는 데이터의 홍수는 사용자가 필요로 하는 유용한 정보를 검색하는데 어려움을 초래한다. 그래서 많은 사용자들이 자신이 원하는 정보를 쉽게 찾기 위한 기법을 고안하고 이를 지원하는 도구를 개발하게 되었다. 이런 유용한 도구 중 하나인 추천시스템은 기존의 사용자 정보를 분석하여 사용자가 원하는 제품이나 정보를 추천하는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 추천시스템을 활용하여 원하는 정보를 제안하는데 인구통계학적인 기법을 사용한다. 인구통계학 기반 추천시스템은 나이, 성별과 같은 인구통계학적인 특성을 사용하여 유용한 정보를 추출한다. 본 연구는 영화 선택 시 중요한 요소인 사용자 평점을 분석하고 이를 활용할 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다. 이를 위해 Internet Movie Database(IMDB) 웹 사이트에 있는 영화의 사용자 평점을 인구통계학적 요인으로 분석하였다. 본 논문에서는 인구통계학적 분석을 위해 사용자를 성별과 연령대로 분류하였고, 각 영화를 22개 장르로 나눈 IMDB 기준에 따라 사용자 평점을 분석하였다. 각 장르별 영화에 대해 사용자 그룹의 평균 평점을 F-테스트와 T-테스트를 수행하여 그 장르 영화 평점과 동일한 결과를 나타내는 대표 그룹을 찾아내었다. 인구통계학적 분석 결과인 대표 그룹은 새로운 영화가 개봉될 때 대표 그룹에 대한 프로모션과 추천을 통해 영화 홍보를 할 수 있는 대상을 찾아내는데 유용하다. Nowadays, overflowing data produced every second from the internet make people to be difficult to search for the useful information. That’s why people have invented and developed unique tools that they get some relevant information. In this paper, the recommender system, one of the effective tools, is used and it helps us to get the useful information that we want by using demographic information to predict new items of interest. The demographic recommender system in this paper computes users’ similarity using demographic information, age and gender. So we performed demographic analysis on movie ratings on Internet Movie Database (IMDB) web site that movies are rated by thousands of people, where users submitted a movie rating after they watched a recent popular film. Meanwhile, we can understand that user’s ratings, among various determinants of box office, is very essential factor in the study on recommendation of movie. This paper is aimed at analyzing movie average ratings directly given by film viewers, categorizing them into groups by sex and age, investigating the entire group and finding the representative group by examining it with F-test and T-test. This result is used to promote and recommend for the target group only. Therefore, this study is considerably significant as presenting utilization for movie business as well as showing how to analyze demographic information on movie ratings on the web.
