The purpose of this study is development of a finite element algorithm to find out the stressed condition, slipped direction and<br/> slipped dimension when some elements of cable-membrane structures are slipped from it's initially designed coordinates by<br/> external loads as wind or non uniform load and so on. In order to search the slipped behaviors of cable-membrane structures, a<br/> Arbitrarily-Lagrangian-Eulerian(ALE) finite element formulation is introduced. In these procedures, a stiffness matrix related with<br/> ALE concept is formulated and a FE analysis program for cable-membrane structures with slipped elements is developed. Various<br/> examples for cable and membrane structures are presented to verify the program's validation. The results are shown good<br/> agreement with that of existed one.

Finite element formulations for geometrical nonlinear analysis of pretensioned membrane and cable reinforced<br/> membrane structures with a Triangular Constants Strain element are presented. The total lagrangian formulation<br/> (T.L.F.) is introduced in the nonlinear incremental iterative procedure. Based on these theoretical formulations, a<br/> FE nonlinear analysis program is developed. In order to show the validity of the presented formulation and<br/> program, initial shape finding analysis and stress-deformation analysis for membrane and cable reinforced<br/> membrane structures are carried out. The results are in good agreement with the results available in the existing<br/> literature.

Chinese characters are one of the world’s four great torturers and are the only oldest remaining characters to date. Chinese characters are symbolic characters that express their meaning through form, and are the only hieroglyphics in the world, and can be said to contain the culture of the Chinese people. In other words, it is no exaggeration to say that one letter of China has a Chinese culture. In this paper, the meaning of the vocabulary of the Chinese character 她 and its cultural meaning were examined. The character 她 appeared in the 1920s and was cursed by women at the time for three years, and as a result of surviving, it has reached the present. It was examined when the letter 她 first appeared, meaning “she, woman,” how it was treated by various writers and scholars at the time of its appearance, and how it has maintained its vocabulary until now. 漢字는 세계 4대 古文字 중 하나로 현재까지 사용되는 문자 중 가장 오래된 문자이다. 한자는 형태를 통해서 그 의미를 나타내는 表意文字로 민족 文化를 내포하고 있다고 할 수 있다. 즉 하나의 漢字는 하나의 문화를 간직하고 있다고 해도 과언이 아니다. 본고는 고대부터 현재에 이르기까지 「她」가 가지고 있는 문자적 의미와 그 문화적 의미를 살펴보았다. 1920년대에 등장한 3인칭 대명사 「她」는 당시 여성주의자들에게 온갖 비난과 비판을 받으면서도 살아남아 현재에 이르게 되었다. 본고는「她」가 ‘그녀’라는 의미의 3인칭 대명사로 출현한 時期, 출현 당시 학자와 대중들의 反應, 의미의 變遷을 고찰하여 그 문화적 含意에 대해 탐구해보았다.
Catenary 곡면을 갖는 막구조물의 치환기법에 관한 연구

Membrane structure systems and cable net structure systems are attracting people's attention as they are used in many buildings because of their light materials and airy appearances. If a membrane structure system or a cable net structure system does not have sufficiently high initial stiffness, it may be in unstable state. But if the initial stiffness is secured, the system will be in stable state. In this study the nonlinear finite element formulae for membrane and cable members considering geometric nonlinearity is derived, and then a catenary's membrane structure, and a tension membrane structure by Nass(Nonlinear Analysis for Spatial Structures) program is analyzed. The suitable scheme, which membrane structure are assigned by cable elements for overcoming the unfitted shape problem, is shown that the section of cable is assigned by element's area.

Awareness of environmental control is considered a significant influence on the performance of asthma self-management behaviors, which are involved in maintaining effective asthma control. This study aimed to investigate whether immersive virtual reality (VR) education is effective in environmental control education for asthmatic children in Korea. Thirty asthmatic children aged 9 to 13 years with aeroallergen sensitization were enrolled. Environmental control education for asthmatic participants was performed using immersive VR (VR group) or conventional leaflets provided by asthma specialists (control group). Five questionnaires, on awareness of environmental control, memory, assessment of intent to act, a satisfaction test, and an Asthma Control Test (ACT), were used to estimate the effects of education. The scores for awareness of environmental control, memory, and intent to act significantly increased after education in both groups, and the scores remained high until 4 weeks after education. Both groups’ ACT scores were consistently high before and 4 weeks after education. Satisfaction scores were very high in the VR group. The increased scores in awareness of environmental control and intent to act indicate that the environmental control education using VR is worthy of attention as an effective educational tool for asthma management. Further developed techniques, including active environmental interventions by participants in VR, could be applied to effective asthma management.

A Study on the Desulfurization Efficiency of Limestone Sludge with Various Admixtures

The flue gas desulfurization (FGD) process is one of the most effective methods to reduce the amount of SO2 gas (up to 90%) generated by the use of fossil fuel. Limestone is usually used as a desulfurizing agent in the wet-type FGD process; however, the limestone reserves of domestic mines have become exhausted. In this study, limestone sludge produced from the steel works process is used as a desulfurizing agent. Seven different types of additives are also used to improve the efficiency of the desulfurization process. As a result, alkaline additive is identified as the least effective additive, while certain types of organic acids show higher efficiency. It is also observed that the amount of FGD gypsum, which is a by-product of the FGD process, increases with the used of some of those additives.
