H.264 Encoder용 Direct Memory Access (DMA) 제어기 설계

본 논문에서는 Full 하드웨어 기반 베이스라인 프로파일 레벨 3 규격 H.264 인코더 코덱에서 사용할 수 있는 Direct Memory Access (DMA) 제어기를 설계하였다. 설계한 모듈은 CMOS Image Sensor(CIS)로부터 영상을 입력 받아 메모리에 저장한 후 인코더 코덱 모듈의 동작에 맞춰 원영상과 참조영상을 각각 한 매크로블록씩 메모리로부터 읽어서 공급하거나 저장하며, DMA 제어기의 한 매크로블록씩 처리하는데 478 cycle을 소요한다. 설계한 구조를 검증하기 위해 JM 9.4와 호환되는 Reference Encoder C를 개발하였으며, Encoder C로부터 Test Vector를 추출하여 설계한 회로를 검증하였다. 제안한 DMAC 제어기의 Cycle은 Xilinx MIG를 사용한 Cycle 보다 40%의 감소를 나타내었다. In this paper, an attempt has been made to design the controller applicable for H.264 level3 encoder of baseline profile on full hardware basis. The designed controller module first stores the images supplied from CMOS Image Sensor(CIS) at main memory, and then reads or stores the image data in macroblock unit according to encoder operation. The timing cycle of the DMA controller required to process a macroblock is 478 cycles. In order to verify the our design, reference-C encoder, which is compatible to JM 9.4, is developed and the designed controller is verified by using the test vector generated from the reference C code. The number of cycle in the designed DMA controller is reduced by 40% compared with the cycle of using Xilinx MIG.

This paper presents a study on characteristics of precession motion of a smart munition. It's a kind of the Sensor Fuzed Weapon. The particular thing for the smart munition is that it has precession motion in the air while the sensor is searching the ground to detect ground vehicles such as tanks. The smart munition has a cylindrical shape and has a sensor attached on its side. Due to its non-uniform mass distribution, its center of gravity(CG) is located away from the center of volume(CV). In order for the smart munition to detect the target effectively, the ground searching pattern of sensor should have an uniform circular form, and for this, the precession motion of smart munition should be in its steady-state. Finally, it is necessary to choose the right initial conditions at the moment of firing, for the steady-state precession motion during flight.

Uses can share information and use resources effectively by using TCP/IP-based networks. So, a protocol to manage complex networks effectively is needed. For the management of the distributed networks, the SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) has been adopted as an international standard in 1989, and the SNMPv2 in which a security function was added was published in 1993. There are two encryption schemes in SNMPv2, the one is a DES using symmetric encryption scheme and the other is a MD5(Message Digest5) hash function for authentication. But the DES has demerits that a key length is a few short and the encryption and the authentication is executed respectively. In order to solve these problems, we use a RSA cryptography in this paper. In this paper, we examine the items related with SNMP. In addition to DES and MD5 proposed in SNMPv3, we enhance security functionality be adopting RSA, a public key algorithm executing the encryption and the authentication simultaneously. The proposed SNMPv3 security module is written in JAVA under Windows NT environment.

In general, a fault locator is installed in Sub-Station of AT(Auto-transformer) feeding system to estimate the fault location and to protect the Korean AT feeding system. Since the line impedance characteristic is different to normal 3-phase transmission line, we need particular modification factors, which can be calculated using fault location recording data, to estimate the accurate fault location. Up to recently, forcible ground test has been used to calculate the modification factors of the fault locator. However, large amount of current is occurred when the forcible ground test is performed, and this current affects to adjacent equipments. Therefore, we proposed a novel calculation method of modification factors, arbitrary trip test, using boosting current of the operating electric train. Through several field test, we confirmed that modification factors for fault locator can be easily calculated by using proposed method. Moreover, we verified the accuracy and stability of the proposed calculation method.

The performance of parallel programs has suffered from the latencies caused by memory access and synchronization. To explore the effect of these latencies, we execute parallel applications varying the scheduling policies and grain sizes. The variations of the memory access patterms generated by the granularity and scheduling policies may affect the cache behavior and synchronization operatioin of the parallel applications. In this paper, the interactions between grain sizes and scheduling policies are examined through execution-driven simulations. The simulatioin results show that the grain size and scheduling policy selected by the programmers have significant impacts on the cache behavior and synchronization latency in most parallel programs. On the basis of the simulation studies, we suggest the best grain size and scheduling policy for each simulated parallel program, and analyze the causes inducing those results.

The data prefetching scheme is an effective technique to reduce the main memory access latency by exploiting the overlap of processor computations with data accesses. However, if the prefetched data replicate the useful existing data in the cache memory and they are not being used in computations. performances of programs are aggravated. This phenomenon results from the lack of correct predictions for data being used in the future. When parallel programs exploit the data arrays for computations, the grain size is useful information for data prefetching scheme because in implies the range of data using in computations. Based on this information, we suggest a new data prefetching scheme exploited by the grain size of the parallel program. Simulation results show that the suggested prefetching scheme improves the performance of the simulated parallel programs due to the reduction of bus transactions as well as useful prefetching operations.

Cellular network architecture on the basis of ATM has been improved in Micro/Pico cell type. The frequent path re-establishment in such cell type is occurred by subscriber's mobility. Hence that increases delay time for connection during handover process. In this paper, crossover switch(COS) search algorithm to reduce delay time, the essential part of path rerouting in ATM networks, is proposed. In order to minimize handover delay factor and weighted sum of network resource increasing factor, this thesis proposed and evaluated new COS search algorithm.
