Our purpose was to determine the predictability of fetal normal growth according to the period of ultrasound examinations in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Women with GDM who performed ultrasound at 4-6 week intervals were included. Maternal risk factors (parity, prepregnancy body mass index and weight gain during pregnancy) associated with fetal overgrowth were analysed. A total of 764 ultrasound examinations were performed on 378 patients. 80 (21.2%) women of the 378 patients delivered large for gestational age (LGA) newborns. 7.7%, 30.7% and 61.5% of fetuses were born LGA newborns when abdominal circumference was more than 90th percentile at 19-24 weeks, 25-29 weeks and 30-35 weeks, respectively. However, 80.3 %, 84.0 % and 87.9 % of fetuses were born non-LGA neonates when abdominal circumference was less than 90th percentile at 19-24 weeks, 25-29 weeks and 30-35 weeks, respectively, and 89.1 % were born non-LGA when both scans at 19-24 weeks and 25-29 weeks showed normal growth. The predictive ability of a non-LGA neonate did not increase significantly with serial abdominal circumference measurements after the finding of a fetal abdominal circumference less than 90th percentile at both 19-24 weeks and 25-29 weeks.
서비스러닝 교과목이 대학생의 시민성 형성에 미치는 효과

본 연구는 서비스러닝 교과목이 대학생의 시민성 형성에 미치는 영향을 확인하고자 혼합연구방법론을 통해 고찰하였다. 이를 위해 양적조사는 국내 Y대학교에서 2019년 2학기 서비스러닝 교과목을 수강한 학생 90명을 대상으로 2019년 9월과 12월, 사전사후 설문조사를 통해 공동체 의식, 사회적 자본을 측정하였다. 대응표본 t검정 분석결과, 서비스러닝은 공동체 의식을 통계적으로 유의미하게 향상시키는 것으로 나타났고, 사회적 자본 가운데 신뢰와 규범의식에 유의미한 변화를 주는 것으로 나타났다. 질적조사의 경우 양적조사 참여자 가운데 자원한 학생들을 의도적으로 표집 하였으며, 2019년 12월 총 14명을 대상으로 인터뷰 하였다. 분석결과, ‘서비스러닝 참여를 통한 나의 변화’, ‘어르신과의 관계맺기’, ‘참여하는 시민’과 같은 상위범주가 도출되었으며, 7개의 하위범주, 18개의 개념이 이를 뒷받침 하였다. 대학생들은 서비스러닝 경험을 통해 자기자신과 타인에 대한 긍정적인 변화를 경험하고, 더 나아가 참여하는 시민으로서 자기동력을 갖추게 된 것으로 보여진다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 본 연구는 시민성 형성을 위한 서비스러닝 교과목의 효과를 입증하고, 활성화 방안을 제언하였다. The purpose of the current study was to explore the influence of service learning on citizenship in college students by using mixed method research. The quantitative data on service learning were collected from 90 college students of Y university from September to December 2019. Subjects in this study completed a survey consisting of sense of community, and social capital. As a result of paired t-test, there were meaningful changes in sense of community, trust and perception of norms for those who participated in the service learning. For the qualitative approach, 14 college students were participated in interviews. Qualitative analysis found that 18 concepts, 7 themes and 3 theme clusters on the essential structure of the service learning experience were driven by theme analysis method. The theme clusters rendered categories associated with ‘change through participation in service learning’, ‘ relationship with the elderly’ ‘being a participating citizen’. Students were experiencing positive changes to themselves and others. Futhermore, they had self-competence as a participating citizen. The results showed that service learning helped students achieved positive outcomes. Based on this result from the study, some suggestions of factors are proposed to increase the positive effects of college students.
지역아동센터 종사자의 다문화가정 서비스 제공 경험에 관한 질적 연구

In this study, we analyzed based on the methodology of qualitative research in order to explore the experience of multicultural family child care of community children's center workers. The results of individual interviews conducted with five local children's center workers are as follows. Research participants faced difficulties through the service delivery stage and the experience of community networking, but they also found it rewarding. They also reflected on their position as a caregiver and discussed the necessary resources. Based on these results, we provided education and support to improve the multicultural family child care ability of local community children's center workers. 본 연구는 지역아동센터 종사자의 다문화가정 서비스 제공 경험을 탐색하고자 질적연구방법론에 근거하여 분석하였다. 지역아동센터 종사자 5명을 대상으로 개별심층면접을 실시한 결과는 다음과 같은 범주로 도출되었다. ‘보통의 한국 아이로 키워야 하는 긴 여정’, ‘다문화가정 부모는 선택이 아닌 필수 대상자’, ‘아동 최선의 이익을 위한 지역사회 네트워크 강화’, ‘다문화가정 아동돌봄 최전방에서의 기대와 노하우’. 이 같은 결과를 토대로 지역아동센터 종사자들의 다문화가정 대상 서비스 역량을 향상시키기 위한 교육과 지원을 제안하였다.
From The Shadow of Content Words: Function Words Illuminating EFL Learner's Writing Proficiency

This study examines how function words are related to EFL learners' writing proficiency in regard to productive vocabulary assessment. The study analyzed 3,244 argumentative essays of a writing composition test written by incoming freshman students at a university in Korea. These essays were evaluated into seven proficiency levels based on overall holistic scores by English native instructors. The essays at each level were then analyzed based on the total number and category of each function word (determiners, pronouns, auxiliaries, prepositions & conjunctions, and adverbial particles). The results demonstrate some clear results in the proportion of function words in relation to the EFL learner’s writing proficiency level. Ranged from 44.43% to 46.91%, the average proportion of the total number of function words in each essay showed a pattern of development across the seven levels. In regard to the subcategories of function words, the proportions of determiners, primary verb auxiliaries, prepositions, and subordinators increased as a function of the student’s proficiency levels. The increases can be explained: as a learner’s proficiency advanced, using these classes of words, she tends to combine more diverse linguistic elements of the level of the phrases, the clauses, the sentences, and the discourses. This grammatical complexity was strongly related to the concreteness and specificity of the specific ideas the learner set forth.
