        배추 유식물의 생장과 Allantoin 대사에 미치는 Allopurinol 의 효과

        Effects of allopurinol (2mM), a specific inhibitor of xanthine oxidase, on the growth and metabolism of allantoin in dark grown Chinese cabbage(Brassica campestris L.) seedlings were investigated. Allopurinol treatment maintained the fresh and dry weights of cotyledons at higher levels, but inhibited the elongation of hypocotyls and roots of the seedlings. Total nitrogen content in the cotyledons decreased at slower rate by allopurinol. Accordingly, the levels of total nitrogen contents in the hypocotyls and roots, were depressed by the inhibitor. In the cotyledons, allopurinol began to elevate RNA levels after day 3, which it did not affect DNA level throughout the experiment. Activities of xanthine oxidase (XO:EC 1.2.3.2), uricase (UO:EC 1.7.3.3) and allantoinase (AL:EC 3.5.2.5) in the cotyledons were examined. The activity of XO was not detected, but the accumulation of xanthine by allopurinol treatment presented an indirect evidence of the existence of XO in the organ. Allopurinol kept UO activity high up to day 2 after sowing and depressed AL activity throughout the experiment. By allopurinol treatment, allantoin content was kept high over the control both in cotyledons and roots, but it was kept low in hypocotyls. The level of allantoic acid in the 3 organs were shown to be depressed by allopurinol. These results suggest that allantoin and allantoic acid produced by the degradation of stored and newly synthesized RNA are transported from the storage tissue to hypocotyls and roots as important nitrogen sources for the development of Chinese cabbage seedlings.

        특발성 파킨슨 환자에서 경혈(經穴)에 따른 침(鍼) 치료 효과의 비교 연구

        Objectives : This study was designed to evaluate the effect of acupuncture with various scales on symptoms of Idiopathic Parkinson's disease. Methods: Subjects were voluntarily recruited through newspapers and internet advertisement. All the subjects were confirmed as idiopathic parkinson's disease by a neurologist. The acupuncture therapy was performed twice a week for 4 weeks by oriental medical doctor at Kyung-hee University hospital. Patients were randomly assigned to three groups : sham acupuncture group, acupuncture treatment group and Sasang-Constitution acupuncture treatment group. Acupun cture points used in acupuncture treatment group were $GB_{34}$, $LR_3$, and $ST_{36}$, which were proven to be effective in rat Parkinson's disease study. Acupuncture points used in sham treatment were non-acupoints near $GB_{34}$, $LR_3$, and $ST_{36}$. In Sasang-Constitution acupuncture treatment, we classfied Sasang constitution of patients by QSCCII. Acupuncture was applied based on theory of Korean medicine. The patient's symptoms were assessed at baseline and after 4 weeks of treatment by one evaluator with Unified Kingdom Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS), modified Hoehn-Yahr(H-Y) stage, and Schwab & England activ ity of daily living and freezing of gait questionnaire (FOGQ). Results : The results were as follows ; 1. UPDRS IV score differences between sham group and Sasang-Constitution acupuncture treatment were statistically significant(p=0.001). 2. UPDRS total score differences between Sasang-Constitution acupuncture treatment and acupuncture treatment group, Sasang-Constitution acupuncture treatment and sham group were statistically significant(p=0.041, p=0.014). 5. FOGQ score differences between Sasang-Constitution acupuncture treatment and acupuncture treatment group, Sasang-Constitution acupuncture treatment and sham group were statistically significant(p=0.001, p=0.001). Conclusion : The results suggest Sasang-Constitution acupuncture treatment can be applicable to improve symptoms in patients with idiopathic Parkinson's disease.

        Pituitary tumors occur in 15-50% of patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia of type 1 (MEN1). To the best of our knowledge, no MEN1 case in which the initial lesion was an invasive giant prolactinoma has been reported from Korea. We describe a patient in whom a skull-base tumor involved the sellar and parasellar spaces. A 49 year-old female presented with headache and diplopia. The tumor was ultimately identified as a giant prolactinoma; the serum prolactin concentration increased from 155.6 ng/mL to 3,234.3 ng/mL after cranial irradiation. She was evaluated in terms of incidental hypercalcemia and was found to have parathyroid hyperplasia. Genetic analysis revealed a missense mutation in the MEN1 gene (c.643G>A, p.Val215Met). Two years of treatment with a dopamine agonist reduced, but did not normalize, the serum prolactin concentration. We highlight the aggressive behavior of the giant skull-base tumor, and the diagnostic delay caused by a high-dose hook effect of the MEN1-related prolactinoma. (Korean J Med 2016;91:300-305)

        RAM-C 분석을 통해 무기체계에 CBM+ 적용 효과도에 관한 연구

        본 논문은 RAM-C(신뢰성 기반 비용 관리) 분석을 통해 무기체계에서 상태기반정비(Condition-Based Maintenance, CBM+) 적용의 효과에 대한 연구를 제시한다. 연구의 목적은 RAM-C 지표에 대한 CBM+ 적용 효과를 평가하고 CBM+적용에 의한 잠재적인 장점을 식별하는 것이다. 고려하는 주요 지표는 운용 가용도와 같은 핵심성능지표(Key Performance Parameter, KPA)와 O&S(운용 및 지원) 비용과 같은 핵심시스템속성(Key System Attribute, KSA)이다. 무기체계의 성능, 신뢰성, 가용성, 유지보수 비용을 평가하기 위해 모델링 및 시뮬레이션(Modelling and Simulation, M&S) 접근 방식을 사용한다. 레이더 시스템이 사례 연구로 사용한다. 본 연구에서 제시된 결과는 CBM+ 적용을 통해 무기체계의 유지보수 프로세스를 최적화하는 데 관련된 방위 산업 전문가, 시스템 설계자 및 의사 결정자에게 실질적인 시사점을 제공할 수 있다. This paper presents a study on the effectiveness of condition-based maintenance plus (CBM+) implementation in weapon systems through RAM-C (reliability, availability, maintainability, and cost) analysis. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of CBM+ application on RAM-C parameters and identify the potential benefits and challenges associated with its adoption. The key parameters considered in the study are key performance parameters, such as operational availability, and key system attributes, such as operating and support cost. The study employed modeling and simulation to assess the performance, reliability, availability, and maintenance cost of weapon systems. A radar system was used as a case study. The results presented in this study have practical implications for defense industry professionals, system designers, and decision-makers involved in optimizing the maintenance processes of weapon systems through CBM+ adoption.

      • 전도성 Poly(carbonate)/Poly (pyrrole) 복합체의 전기적 및 열적성질의 안정성

        Electrically conducting Poly(carbonate)(PC)/Poly(pyrrole)(PPy) composite films were synthesized by exposing PC films containing ferric chloride as an oxidant to pyrrole vapour under various polymerization conditions. After pyrrole was polymerized for two hours in PC matrix, the composite films showed the conductivity as high as 10^-4∼10^-3 S/cm and it increased with incresing the concentration of the oxidant, and polymerization time. The rate constant of the degradation of electrical conductivity for PC/PPy composite film containing 30 wt % of FeCl_3 has suggested that the conductivity loss of one order of magnitude takes about 320 hours, and the degradation of the electrical conductivity was found to obey first -order reaction kinetics and may involve the reaction of the delocalized carbenium ion along the PPy backbone with oxygen or water. From the result of thermogravimetric analysis(TGA), we knew that the composite film was thermally stable up to 320℃.

        48시간 이내 응급실 재방문에 대한 분석 : 일개 종합병원을 대상으로

        Background : To evaluate the frequency and cause of return to the emergency department within 48 hours and to identify the nature of the problem. Methods : We reviewed the medical records of 76 patients who returned to the emergency department within 48 hours from September 1998 to February 1999. Results : Overall revisit rate within 48hours was 2.6%. Of 76 patients, 5(6.6%) had planned return. 64(84.2%) had unplanned return and 7(9.2%) had incomplete documentation. The causes of unplanned return were inadequate medical management (11.8%), discharge against medical advice (27.6%), return after scheduled ambulatory care (22.4%), and unavoidable revisit due to symptom aggrevation or development of new-symptom (22.4%). Conclusion : The study provided a basic information for us to improve the quality of emergency care by reducing unnecessary return to the emergency department. It is necessary to monitor continuously the quality of emergency care and to develop the standard of emergency return rate.
