The proper resource allocation is a very important topic in power system problems, especially in operation and planning. One of such problems is optimal maintenance in operation and planning. The least cost should be the subject to be pursued in this study. A simulation model of a probablistic operation which is called cumulant method, is applied to the problem of optimal maintenance scheduling. A new technique called time axis shift method is developed. This method is similar to dynamic programming successive approximation.

A new technique using search method based on fuzzy multi-criteria function is proposed for generator maintenance scheduling. Minimization of probabilistic production cost, maximization of system reliability level and air pollution are considered for fuzzy multi-criteria function. To obtain an optimal solution for generator maintenance scheduling under fuzzy environment, fuzzy multi-criteria relaxation method(fuzzy search method) is used. The practicality and effectiveness of the proposed approach are demonstrated by the simulation results of the real size model system.

A new approach using the fuzzy dynamic programming is proposed for the long-term generation mix with multi-criteria under uncertain circumstances. A characteristic feature of the presented approach is that not only fuzziness in fuel and construction cost, load growth, reliability and air pollution but also many constraints of generation mix can easily be taken into account by using fuzzy dynamic programming. The method can accommodate an arbitrary shape of a membership function as well as the operation of pumped-storage generator. Using such a method, a more realistic solution can be obtained. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated by applying to the best generation mix problem of KEPCO-system which contains nuclear, coal, LNG, oil and pumped-storage hydro plant in multi-years.
