마우스 회장 운동에 대한 나문재 (Suaeda asparagoides M<sub>IQ</sub>) 추출물의 효과

Suaeda (S.) asparagoides $M_{IQ}$, one of the halophyte groups, has been used as a folk remedy for digestive disturbances in Korea. However, its pharmacological activity on gastrointestinal motility has not been reported yet. In this study, the effects of this halophyte extracts with various solvent fractions (ethanol, hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, butanol, and water) on mice ileal spontaneous motility was examined. All solvent fractions at the concentration of $100{\mu}g/ml$ showed inhibitory actions on spontaneous motility of ileum with the potency order of water > 70% ethanol > hexane ${\gg}$ chloroform ${\geq}$ butanol ${\geq}$ ethyl acetate, respectively. In addition, the water fraction of extracts from S. asparagoides $M_{IQ}$ (WFSA) dose-dependently ($1-100{\mu}g/ml$) inhibited the amplitude of spontaneous phasic contraction and area under the contractile curve (AUC). The inhibitory effect of water fraction at the concentration of $10{\mu}g/ml$ was not affected by tetrodotoxin (TTX), $Na^+$ channel blocker ($1{\mu}M$), and $N^w$-nitro-L-arginine Methyl Ester (L-NAME), nitric oxide synthase inhibitor ($100{\mu}M$). However, cyclopiazonic acid (CPA, $10{\mu}M$), inhibitor of sarcoplasmic reticulum $Ca^{2+}$-ATPase, almost blocked the inhibitory effects of WFSA ($10{\mu}g/ml$) on the spontaneous phasic contraction of mouse ileum. But, CPA did not inhibit the lowering basal tone effects of WFSA. The result of this study showed that various extracts of S. asparagoides $M_{IQ}$ induce inhibitory effects on spontaneous contraction of mice ileal segments. More over, the polar solvent fractions were shown to be more potent than non-polar solvent fractions. The effects of S. asparagoides $M_{IQ}$ extracts are not mediated by nerve or nitric oxide. The inhibitory effects of WFSA at least partially mediated by sarcoplasmic reticulum $Ca^{2+}$-ATPase. However, further study is required to determine the exact pharmacological mechanisms of this halophyte on its gastrointestinal motility inhibitory effects.

In this research, we investigated the dependence of the saturation-induced gain modulation (SIGM) on the modulation frequency of the input signal in an erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA). By finding and incorporating the modulation frequency invariance of the SIGM realizable within some frequency range, we demonstrated a repetition-rate-selectable high-speed optical gating in two-terminal electrical devices based on vanadium-dioxide thin films. In the implemented optical gating system, the repetition rate could be freely chosen as an arbitrary frequency between 0.27 and 10 kHz without any degradation of the gating speed and the signal-to-noise ratio.

A study of atmospheric radon concentrations survey in Korea, Seoul was carried out with ERM(Electrostatic Radon Monitor) from October 1998 to September 1999. The mean of atmospheric radon concentrations 4.79Bq/㎥ at Seoul. Radon concentration were distributed 3.65-8.71Bq/㎥. The seasonal pattern seems to be relatively higher during the autumn and relatively low during the spring. The result from correlation analysis was significant obtained between atmospheric radon concentrations and meteorological factor.
지하매설 구조물에 작용하는 토압에 관한 실내 모형 실험

Buried box structures are used for highway, railway and public utilities such as water supply, sewerage and electric works. Such use will be increased for land efficiency, traffic and environmental problems in the future. In the design method for box structure, for the vertical pressure on the top of the structure and for the lateral pressure on the wall, the Marston's and Jaky's(1944) equations are used in practice, respectively. However, the existed design methods does not consider the excavation geometry and the backfill process. Here, a model experiment was performed for the earth pressures acting on a buried box structure, which was considered both the backfill geometry and process. And the experimental data was compared with those by the existed methods. The results of comparison are as follows: (1) The vertical pressure by the model experiment was different with the self weight(γH), but depending on the geometry and relative density of backfill. (2) The calculated lateral pressure by the Silo theory agreed well with the measured one in tbackfill widthhe narrow.
