As big data analysis is being used for forecasting near-future trends and figuring out more accurate customer demands, tourism and hospitality industries are expected to have important benefits from big data analysis. Moreover, the use of big data analysis can give strategic guidelines for marketing and advertising, which can result in cost reductions in marketing, quality improvements in festivals, and attracting first-time visitors. Therefore, it is considered necessary to conduct a research on the latest big data analysis methodologies to apply it in various ways in tourism and hospitality industries. The purpose of this study is to analyze the cases where big data has been used and figure out the ways big data can be applied more effectively in tourism and hospitality industries. Based on extensive review, economic effect and spending pattern, pattern analysis of tourist movement, keyword analysis by network analysis are extracted for typical types of big data analysis. According to three types, several cases were discussed and implications were suggested.

Despite this upsurge of wellness tourism, less research attention has been devoted to exploring the experience and perceptions of wellness tourists toward the wide range of services available to them at wellness tourist sites. The purpose of this study is to derive the experience dimensions of wellness tourists based on wellness tourists’ experience data on social media sites. The study collected social text data with search keyword ‘wellness tourism’ and wellness tourists’ experiences from Naver and Daum. To categorize the wellness tourists’ experience dimensions, LDA topic modeling technique was used. Total number of 7,413 text data about wellness tourism were collected and analyzed. As findings, 7 wellness tourism factors were derived based on LDA topic modeling method: “wellness event experience, healing/meditation program experience, cost-effective health care services, medical tourism and spa facilities, parking convenience and accommodations, nature treatment and scenery, experience of Korean tea culture” Based on findings, the practical and theoretical implication were discussed.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of Wellness tourism service quality on participants’ flow and satisfaction. Based on extensive literature review, six factors of wellness tourism service were selected; ‘program’, ‘tourism components’, ‘human service’, ‘physical environment’, ‘nature-friendly environment’, and ‘interaction’. Data were collected from the visitors of wellness tourism program operated in Chungju city, South Korea from September, 3 to October, 28, 2021. A total of 226 samples were used for hypotheses test by using regression analysis. As findings, program service, nature-friendly environment, physical environment, and interaction showed significant effects on participants’ flow and tourism component, program service, nature-friendly environment, and physical environment had significant impacts on satisfaction. Interestingly, there was no significant effect of the human service on both satisfaction and flow. The flow factor showed a significant effect on satisfaction. Based on findings, the importance of nature-friendly environment and the uniqueness of tourism component, human service and interaction were discussed.
