Error Estimation Method for Matrix Correlation-Based Wi-Fi Indoor Localization

        ( Yong-liang Sun ),( Yu-bin Xu ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2013 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.7 No.11

A novel neighbor selection-based fingerprinting algorithm using matrix correlation (MC) for Wi-Fi localization is presented in this paper. Compared with classic fingerprinting algorithms that usually employ a single received signal strength (RSS) sample, the presented algorithm uses multiple on-line RSS samples in the form of a matrix and measures correlations between the on-line RSS matrix and RSS matrices in the radio-map. The algorithm makes efficient use of on-line RSS information and considers RSS variations of reference points (RPs) for localization, so it offers more accurate localization results than classic neighbor selection-based algorithms. Based on the MC algorithm, an error estimation method using artificial neural network is also presented to fuse available information that includes RSS samples and localization results computed by the MC algorithm and model the nonlinear relationship between the available information and localization errors. In the on-line phase, localization errors are estimated and then used to correct the localization results to reduce negative influences caused by a static radio-map and RP distribution. Experimental results demonstrate that the MC algorithm outperforms the other neighbor selection-based algorithms and the error estimation method can reduce the mean of localization errors by nearly half.

Molecular characterization and expression analysis of putative odorant carrier proteins in Adelphocoris lineolatus

        Yong Xiao,Liang Sun,Qi Wang,Qiang Zhang,Shao-Hua Gu,Adel Khashaveh,Ze-Wen Liu,Yong-Jun Zhang 한국응용곤충학회 2018 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.21 No.3

The alfalfa plant bug Adelphocoris lineolatus (Goeze) (Hemiptera: Miridae), a serious pest of several agricultural crops, is extremely attracted by flowering plants to perform season host switching. Generally, chemoreception of A. lineolatus plays a crucial role in detecting food sources, locating mates and oviposition sites. In addition, odorant carrier proteins are believed to participate in the initial chemical communication and perception in insects. In this work, we identified 31 putative odorant carrier protein genes from the antennal transcriptomes of A. lineolatus, including 17 new odorant binding proteins (OBPs), 10 new chemosensory proteins (CSPs) and four Niemann-Pick type C2 proteins (NPC2s). Phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that the OBP and CSP genes from four mirid bug species (A. lineolatus, Adelphocoris suturalis, Apolygus lucorum and Lygus lineolaris) had a relatively close evolutionary relationship. Regular patterns and key conserved motifs of OBPs and CSPs in Hemiptera insects are also identified by using Multiple EM for Motif Elicitation (MEME) tool. Tissue expression profiles analysis showed that nine of the 17 OBPs, 10 CSPs and two of the four NPC2s were primarily or uniquely expressed in the adult antennae suggesting their putative roles in chemoreception. Our study provides the first insight into the roles of odorant carrier proteins in chemoreception of A. lineolatus, which will help to facilitate biological functions of odorant carrier proteins and develop novel insect behavioral regulation strategy

      • Interleukin 10 rs1800872 T>G Polymorphism was Associated with an Increased Risk of Esophageal Cancer in a Chinese Population

Sun, Jia-Ming,Li, Qiong,Gu, Hai-Yong,Chen, Yi-Jang,Wei, Ji-Shu,Zhu, Quan,Chen, Liang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.6

Aim: Esophageal cancer is the eighth most common cancer and sixth leading cause of cancer associated death worldwide. The 5 year survival rate for esophageal cancer patients is very poor and accounts for only 12.3%. Besides environmental risk factors, genetic factors might play an important role in the esophageal cancer carcinogenesis. Methods: We conducted a hospital based case-control study to evaluate the genetic effects of functional single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs): interleukin 9 (IL9) rs31563 C>T, IL9 rs31564 G>T, IL10 rs1800872 T>G, IL12A rs2243115 T>G, IL12B rs3212227 T>G and IL13 rs1800925 C>T on the development of esophageal cancer. A total of 380 esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) cases and 380 controls were recruited for this study. The genotypes were determined using a custom-by-design 48-Plex SNPscan$^{TM}$ Kit. Results: The IL10 rs1800872 T>G polymorphism was associated with an increased risk of ESCC. However, there were no significant links with the other five SNPs. Stratified analyses indicated no significant risk of ESCC associated with the IL10 rs1800872 T>G polymorphism evident among any subgroups. Conclusion: These findings indicated that functional polymorphism IL10 rs1800872 T>G might contribute to ESCC susceptibility. However, our results were obtained with a limited sample size, so that the power of our analysis was low. Future larger studies with more rigorous study designs of other ethnic populations are required to confirm the current findings.

      • Parthenolide-Induced Apoptosis, Autophagy and Suppression of Proliferation in HepG2 Cells

        Sun, Jing,Zhang, Chan,Bao, Yong-Li,Wu, Yin,Chen, Zhong-Liang,Yu, Chun-Lei,Huang, Yan-Xin,Sun, Ying,Zheng, Li-Hua,Wang, Xue,Li, Yu-Xin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.12

Purpose: To investigate the anticancer effects and underlying mechanisms of parthenolide on HepG2 human hepatocellular carcinoma cells. Materials and Methods: Cell viability was assessed by MTT assay and cell apoptosis through DAPI, TUNEL staining and Western blotting. Monodansylcadaverin(MDC) and AO staining were used to detect cell autophagy. Cell proliferation was assessed by Ki67 immunofluorescence staining. Results: Parthenolide induced growth inhibition in HepG2 cells. DAPI and TUNEL staining showed that parthenolide could increase the number of apoptotic nuclei, while reducing the expression of the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 and elevating the expression of related proteins, like p53, Bax, cleaved caspase9 and cleaved caspase3. Parthenolide could induce autophagy in HepG2 cells and inhibited the expression of proliferation-related gene, Ki-67. Conclusions: Parthenolide can exert anti-cancer effects by inducing cell apoptosis, activating autophagy and inhibiting cell proliferation.

한우육의 육색 안정성과 지방산화에 미치는 환원력의 영향

        김용선,김주용,이성기,양부근,양성운 한국동물자원과학회 2001 한국축산학회지 Vol.43 No.3

The effects of reducing ability on meat color stability and lipid oxidation in M. Longissimus and M. Semimembranosus of Hanwoo(Korean native cattle) beef were investigated. Samples were held 8 days at 1℃ and 90% RH, and then meat quality characteristics of Hanwoo beef were evaluated. Also, stability of meat color, myoglobin forms(%), lipid oxidation and reducing ability after a rapid denaturation test(30℃ during 5h) were investigated. CIE a*(redness), b*(yellowness), chroma(C*) values, oxymyoglobin and R630-R580 were significantly(p$lt;0.05) decreased during storage at 1℃ for two beef muscles. Also, reducing ability was significantly(p$lt;0.05) decreased during storage at 1℃and after a rapid denaturation test, then reducing ability had very poor stability. Two beef muscles after a rapid denaturation test had good color stability. Reducing ability negatively correlated with L* value, metmyoglobin(%), TBARS and POV, and positively correlated with a* and chroma values. Consequently, reducing ability of muscle is related to meat color stability and lipid oxidation.

진열조건중 조도변화에 따른 한우육의 표면육색 변화

        김용선,김주용,이성기,양성운 한국동물자원과학회 2000 한국축산학회지 Vol.42 No.6

The effect of light exposure and light intensity on surface color of Hanwoo(Korean native cattle) beef were investigated. Samples were held 7 days at 4±1℃ under the dark(Dark), 1,000 lux(Light1000) and 3,000 lux(Light3000), and then pH, TBARS (thiobarbituric acid reactive substances) and surface color characteristics of Hanwoo beef were evaluated. There was no difference(p$gt;0.05) in CIE L*(lightness) value among display condition. Storage time also had no effect on CIE L* value. But CIE a*(redness), b*(yellowness), chroma(C*) values, oxymyoglobin and R630-R580 were significantly(p$lt;0.05) decreased during storage at 4±1℃ whether the beef was light-exposed or not. However, these values decreased more rapidly in the light-exposed sample. In particular, those values of Light3000 group decreased more rapidly compared to those of Light1000 and Dark groups. Hue-angle value, metmyoglobin and TBARS were significantly(p$lt;0.05) higher in Light3000 group. Hanwoo beef surfaces in the light condition accumulated more metmyoglobin than in the dark condition. Also, the rate of decrease in redness during refrigerated storage was enhanced by light exposure and increase of light intensity. The increase of light intensity promoted not only discoloration but also lipid oxidation. Therefore, storage in the dark condition is effective in retarding the formation of a brown color in Hanwoo beef.

Effects of Dietary Rhus verniciflua Stokes Supplementation on Meat Quality Characteristics of Hanwoo (Korean Cattle) Beef during Refrigerated Storage

Kim, Yong Sun,Liang, Cheng Yun,Song, Young Han,Lee, Sung Ki Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2006 Animal Bioscience Vol.19 No.1

The effects of dietary Rhus verniciflua Stokes supplementation (0%, 2%, 4% and 6%/feed) on meat color, water-holding capacity (WHC), lipid oxidation and fatty acid composition in m. longissimus from Hanwoo (Korean cattle) beef during refrigerated storage were investigated. The $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$ and $C^*$ values of 4% group were significantly (p<0.05) higher than those of the other groups for 7 days of storage. The $a^*$, $b^*$ and $C^*$ values declined gradually during storage in all of the groups and the decline was more rapid in control group. The metmyoglobin (%) was significantly (p<0.05) increased during storage time in all of the groups, but the 4% group had a lower rate of metmyoglobin accumulation during storage. WHC was significantly (p<0.05) higher in the 2% and 4% groups than in the other groups. The TBARS (thiobarbituric acid reactive substances) value of day 0 was not significantly (p>0.05) different among 4 diet conditions, but the TBARS value after 5 days of storage was significantly (p<0.05) higher in the control group than in other groups. The proportions of C18:1, MUFA, UFA and MUFA/SFA ratio were significantly (p<0.05) higher in the meat from Rhus verniciflua Stokes-supplemented Hanwoo than in the control group. Consequently, the meat from Rhus verniciflua Stokes-supplemented Hanwoo showed higher color stability, WHC, unsaturated fatty acids and retarded lipid oxidation compared to the control meat. In particular, dietary Rhus verniciflua Stokes supplementation with 4% extended storage life compared to the other groups.

      • Preliminary in vivo evaluation of the protein transduction domain-modified ATTEMPTS approach in enhancing asparaginase therapy

Li, Yong Tao,Kwon, Young Min,Spangrude, Gerald J.,Liang, Jun F.,Chung, Hee Sun,Park, Yoon Jeong,Yang, Victor C. Wiley Subscription Services, Inc., A Wiley Company 2009 Journal of biomedical materials research. Part A Vol.a91 No.1

Asparaginase (ASNase) is an enzyme drug presently approved for the induction of remission in the treatment of patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The cytotoxic effect of ASNase is derived from its ability to deplete asparagine, an essential amino acid required by certain types of leukemia cells for protein synthesis and survival. Despite its efficacy in enhancing disease remission rate and prolonging complete remission duration in ALL patients, ASNase therapy is nevertheless confounded by a number of serious toxic effects, particularly to organs associated with high protein production (e.g., liver, pancreas), due to the systemic depletion of asparagine. Presented herein is a modified version of our previously established ATTEMPTS protein delivery system that carries the potential to permit a tumor specific, intracellular delivery of ASNase, thereby allowing for a significant reduction of ASNase-induced systemic toxicity. In a previous paper, we already demonstrated the in vitro feasibility of this heparin/protamine-regulated, TAT-mediated system in delivering ASNase directly into ASNase-sensitive murine lymphoma cells. In this article, we further validated the in vivo applicability of this system in animals harboring ASNase-encapsulated L5178Y lymphoma cells. Preliminary results showed that animals inoculated with L5178Y cells containing TAT-ASNase exhibited an extended survival rate of ∼13% over those harboring L5178Y cells without the encapsulation of ASNase. Furthermore, the TAT-ASNase-treated mice also displayed a significantly improved hematological and liver histological status than the control groups. These findings bring promise to the use of the modified ATTEMPTS delivery system in achieving enhanced ASNase therapy. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Biomed Mater Res, 2009
