        Ti-6Al-4V 합금의 내부 미소결함에 따른 초음파 신호 특성 연구

        Ti합금은 고온환경에서 고강도가 요구되는 항공기의 엔진 부품등의 소재로 적용되고 있다. Ti합금은 이와 같이 기계적 성능이 우수함에도 불구하고 α상과 β상의 조성에 의한 두 상의 띠세 구조에 의한 초음파 산란으로 초음파를 이용한 비파괴 평가에서 피로균열 검출이 어려운 단점이 있다. 합금내의 결정립에서 산란되는 초음파 신호에 의하여 결함이 존재하지 않는 경우에도 산란 신호가 검출되는 결정립 산란 잡음 신호가 존재하며, 이들 결정립 산란 잡음신호는 합금내부에 존재하는 기공 및 불순물 등의 결함 검출을 어렵게 하는 요인이다. 본 연구에서는 Ti합금의 효율적인 초음파를 이용한 비파괴 평가의 적용을 위하여 Ti합금 시험편에 대하여 초음파 전파속도 측정 및 미세 드릴 가공에 의한 인공 결함의 검출능 평가 등을 수행하였다. Ti alloy is used for essential parts of aircraft for high temperature environment. Although Ti alloy has excellent performance in regard to mechanical properties, it is difficult to find fatigue cracks by nondestructive ultrasonic inspection due to its two-phase microstructure, which consists of hard alpha and beta phases. Sound energy reflected from microstructural features in the component produces a background inspection noise which is seen even when no defects are present. This noise can inhibit the detection of critical internal defects such as pores cracks or inclusions. To obtain fundamental data on ultrasonic inspection of Ti alloy, ultrasonic testing was performed using a specimen with small drill holes and ultrasonic wave propagation velocities were measured.

        <P>We have identified missense mutations at conserved amino acids in the <I>PRPS1</I> gene on Xq22.3 in two families with a syndromic form of inherited peripheral neuropathy, one of Asian and one of European descent. The disease is inherited in an X-linked recessive manner, and the affected male patients invariably develop sensorineural hearing loss of prelingual type followed by gating disturbance and visual loss. The family of European descent was reported in 1967 as having Rosenberg-Chutorian syndrome, and recently a Korean family with the same symptom triad was identified with a novel disease locus CMTX5 on the chromosome band Xq21.32-q24. <I>PRPS1</I> (phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase 1) is an isoform of the <I>PRPS</I> gene family and is ubiquitously expressed in human tissues, including cochlea. The enzyme mediates the biochemical step critical for purine metabolism and nucleotide biosynthesis. The mutations identified were E43D, in patients with Rosenberg-Chutorian syndrome, and M115T, in the Korean patients with CMTX5. We also showed decreased enzyme activity in patients with M115T. <I>PRPS1</I> is the first CMT gene that encodes a metabolic enzyme, shedding a new light on the understanding of peripheral nerve-specific metabolism and also suggesting the potential of <I>PRPS1</I> as a target for drugs in prevention and treatment of peripheral neuropathy by antimetabolite therapy.</P>

      • Design and Analysis of 3D-MAPS (3D Massively Parallel Processor with Stacked Memory)

        <P>This paper describes the architecture, design, analysis, and simulation and measurement results of the 3D-MAPS (3D massively parallel processor with stacked memory) chip built with a 1.5 V, 130 nm process technology and a two-tier 3D stacking technology using 1.2 \microm-diameter, 6 \micro m-height through-silicon vias (TSVs) and 3.4\nbsp\microm-diameter face-to-face bond pads. 3D-MAPS consists of a core tier containing 64 cores and a memory tier containing 64 memory blocks. Each core communicates with its dedicated 4KB SRAM block using face-to-face bond pads, which provide negligible data transfer delay between the core and the memory tiers. The maximum operating frequency is 277 MHz and the maximum memory bandwidth is 70.9 GB/s at 277 MHz. The peak measured memory bandwidth usage is 63.8 GB/s and the peak measured power is approximately 4 W based on eight parallel benchmarks.</P>

        신규 화학물질의 등록 및 사용이 매년 증가함에 따라 이들의 모화합물, 대사산물 및 분해산물이 토양 및 하천수 등으로 유입되어 농·축·수산물 및 환경 중 잔류될 경우, 인축 및 생태계에 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 기존의 잔류실태조사는 농약 등 잔류물질을 HPLC, GC 또는 quadrupole을 활용한 nominal (tandem) mass spectrometry를 사용하고 있다. 특히 nominal mass spectrometry는 표적분석에는 유리하지만, 추정분석 및 비표적분석이 어려워 잔류물질의 오염사고 시 사전정보가 전혀 없는 미규제물질 검출에는 활용성이 떨어진다. 그러므로 TOF (time-of-flight)와 같은 고분해능 질량분석기의 활용으로 미규제물질의 분석이 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 추정분석 및 비표적분석을 위해 표준물질이 확보된 항목에 대한 개별 농약 라이브러리를 구축하였다. 분석기기로는 Shimadzu LCMS-9030을 사용하여 농약 표준품을 분석하였으며, MS1 및 MS2 수준에서 각각 라이브러리를 작성하였다. 분석하고자 하는 농약성분을 적절한 농도로 희석하여 MS1 수준에서 동위원소(isotope) 분석을 실시하였으며 exact mass, 동위원소 존재 비율 등을 확인하였다. 이후 MS2 수준에서의 분석 시에는 CE (collision energy) 값을 각 10 V부터 100 V까지 10 V 단위로 세분화하여 개별 분석함과 동시에 CE spread 기능을 이용해 CE 5-55 V 및 55-105 V 범위에서의 통합 스펙트럼을 각각 확보하였다. MS1과 MS2 스펙트럼 패턴 및 추가 화학물질 정보인 cas number, chemical formula, structure, exact mass 등을 라이브러리에 기입하였다. 매 분석 시 m/z 보정용 tunning solution을 이용하여 스펙트럼 질량정확도를 허용 기준인 ±5 ppm 이내인 것을 확인하여 정확성을 확보하였다. 향후 구축된 농약 라이브러리를 이용하여 표준물질이 확보되지 못한 상황에서도 이를 바탕으로 미규제물질을 추정하고 비표적분석을 통해 농·축·수산물 중 농약 잔류실태조사에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

      • IRAS 15099-5856: REMARKABLE MID-INFRARED SOURCE WITH PROMINENT CRYSTALLINE SILICATE EMISSION EMBEDDED IN THE SUPERNOVA REMNANT MSH15-5<i>2</i>

        <P>We report new mid-infrared (MIR) observations of the remarkable object IRAS 15099-5856 using the space telescopes AKARI and Spitzer, which demonstrate the presence of prominent crystalline silicate emission in this bright source. IRAS 15099-5856 has a complex morphology with a bright central compact source (IRS1) surrounded by knots, spurs, and several extended (similar to 4') arc-like filaments. The source is seen only at >= 10 mu m. The Spitzer mid-infrared spectrum of IRS1 shows prominent emission features from Mg-rich crystalline silicates, strong [Ne II] 12.81 mu m, and several other faint ionic lines. We model the MIR spectrum as thermal emission from dust and compare with the Herbig Be star HD 100546 and the luminous blue variable R71, which show very similar MIR spectra. Molecular line observations reveal two molecular clouds around the source, but no associated dense molecular cores. We suggest that IRS1 is heated by UV radiation from the adjacent O star Muzzio 10 and that its crystalline silicates most likely originated in a mass outflow from the progenitor of the supernova remnant (SNR) MSH 15-52. IRS1, which is embedded in the SNR, could have been shielded from the SN blast wave if the progenitor was in a close binary system with Muzzio 10. If MSH 15-52 is a remnant of Type Ib/c supernova (SN Ib/c), as has been previously proposed, this would confirm the binary model for SN Ib/c. IRS1 and the associated structures may be the relics of massive star death, as shaped by the supernova explosion, the pulsar wind, and the intense ionizing radiation of the embedded O star.</P>

      • Characterization of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza A Viruses Isolated from South Korea

        <B>ABSTRACT</B><P>An unprecedented outbreak of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has been reported for poultry in eight different Asian countries, including South Korea, since December 2003. A phylogenetic analysis of the eight viral genes showed that the H5N1 poultry isolates from South Korea were of avian origin and contained the hemagglutinin and neuraminidase genes of the A/goose/Guangdong/1/96 (Gs/Gd) lineage. The current H5N1 strains in Asia, including the Korean isolates, share a gene constellation similar to that of the Penfold Park, Hong Kong, isolates from late 2002 and contain some molecular markers that seem to have been fixed in the Gs/Gd lineage virus since 2001. However, despite genetic similarities among recent H5N1 isolates, the topology of the phylogenetic tree clearly differentiates the Korean isolates from the Vietnamese and Thai isolates which have been reported to infect humans. A representative Korean isolate was inoculated into mice, with no mortality and no virus being isolated from the brain, although high titers of virus were observed in the lungs. The same isolate, however, caused systemic infections in chickens and quail and killed all of the birds within 2 and 4 days of intranasal inoculation, respectively. This isolate also replicated in multiple organs and tissues of ducks and caused some mortality. However, lower virus titers were observed in all corresponding tissues of ducks than in chicken and quail tissues, and the histological lesions were restricted to the respiratory tract. This study characterizes the molecular and biological properties of the H5N1 HPAI viruses from South Korea and emphasizes the need for comparative analyses of the H5N1 isolates from different countries to help elucidate the risk of a human pandemic from the strains of H5N1 HPAI currently circulating in Asia.</P>

        Correlation between average tissue depth data and quantitative accuracy of forensic craniofacial reconstructions measured by geometric surface comparison method.

        <P>Accuracy is the most important factor supporting the reliability of forensic facial reconstruction (FFR) comparing to the corresponding actual face. A number of methods have been employed to evaluate objective accuracy of FFR. Recently, it has been attempted that the degree of resemblance between computer-generated FFR and actual face is measured by geometric surface comparison method. In this study, three FFRs were produced employing live adult Korean subjects and three-dimensional computerized modeling software. The deviations of the facial surfaces between the FFR and the head scan CT of the corresponding subject were analyzed in reverse modeling software. The results were compared with those from a previous study which applied the same methodology as this study except average facial soft tissue depth dataset. Three FFRs of this study that applied updated dataset demonstrated lesser deviation errors between the facial surfaces of the FFR and corresponding subject than those from the previous study. The results proposed that appropriate average tissue depth data are important to increase quantitative accuracy of FFR.</P>

        Prognosis of Acute Intracranial Atherosclerosis-Related Occlusion after Endovascular Treatment

        <P><B>Background and Purpose</B></P><P>Little is known about prognosis after endovascular therapy (EVT) for acute large artery occlusion (LAO) caused by underlying intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS). Therefore, we investigated the prognosis following EVT according to the underlying etiology of LAO. </P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>Patients from the Acute Stroke due to Intracranial Atherosclerotic occlusion and Neurointervention-Korean Retrospective (ASIAN KR) registry (n=720) were included if their occlusion was in the intracranial anterior circulation and their onset-to-puncture time was <24 hours. Occlusion was classified according to etiology as follows: no significant stenosis after recanalization (Embolic group), and fixed significant focal stenosis in the occlusion site with flow impairment or re-occlusion observed during EVT (ICAS group). Patients were excluded when significant extracranial carotid lesions existed, and when the intracranial occlusion was intractable to EVT so that the etiology was undetermined. The effect of angiographic etiologic classification on outcomes was evaluated using multivariable analysis that was adjusted for potential confounders. </P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Among eligible patients (n=520), 421 and 99 were classified in the Embolic and ICAS groups, respectively. Patients in the Embolic and ICAS groups had similar successful reperfusion rates with EVT (79.6% vs. 76.8%, <I>P</I>=0.537) and 3-month functional independence (54.5% vs. 45.5%, <I>P</I>=0.104). In multivariable analysis, ICAS-related occlusion (odds ratio, 0.495; 95% confidence interval, 0.269 to 0.913; <I>P</I>=0.024) showed poorer 3-month functional independence compared to embolic occlusion. </P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>After EVT, patients with acute ICAS-related occlusion have relatively poor functional outcomes compared to those with embolic occlusion. Novel strategies need to be developed to improve EVT outcomes for ICAS occlusion.</P>
