        This study started with the measured experiment of climatic characteristic at the coastal reclamation area formed by the reclamation and development which is inevitable selection presently. As a result of the examination, the climate variation is predicted to be large in summer and the salt concentration is shown in the order of top layer, bottom layer and intermediate layer. Therefore, the greens space and wind path are occupied at the coastal reclamation.

        Effect of Premotor Cortex Stimulation on Motor Learning in Basal Ganglial Hemorrhage Patients

        Objective To investigate the effects of high frequency (10 Hz) repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on visuospatial motor learning, stimulated on the premotor cortex in basal ganglia hemorrhage patients. Method Nine patients were randomized to receive real and sham rTMS. We subdivided into two groups according to the integrity of the corticospinal tract measured by diffusion tensor tractography. The implicit visuospatial learning paradigm composed of numbers 1 to 4, in which 12 sequential numbers (2-3-1-4-3-2-4-1-3-4-2-1) were incorporated randomly. We obtained the mean fraction anisotrophy (FA) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values from the corticospinal tract and subdividing into two groups by calculating the relative value (laterality %). Results rTMS on the premotor cortex was effective only in simple motor learning but not in visuospatial learning in group analysis. The primary motor cortex excitability after the premotor cortex stimulation has been changed significantly. Subdividing into two groups according to the integrity of the corticospinal tract using the ADC value, the low ADC value group showed significant reduction of the visuospatial response time. Conclusion High frequency rTMS on the premotor cortex was effective in simple motor learning and also in the group who maintained more integrity of the corticospinal tract in basal ganglia hemorrhage.

        Overexpression of Bacterioferritin Comigratory Protein (Bcp) Enhances Viability and Reduced Glutathione Level in the Fission Yeast Under Stress

        The structural gene encoding bacterioferritin comigratory protein (Bcp) was amplified using PCR from the genomic DNA of Schizosaccharomyces pombe, and transferred into the shuttle vector pRS316 to generate the recombinant plasmid pBCP10. The bcp+ mRNA level in the pBCP10-containing yeast cells was significantly higher than that in the control yeast cells, indicating that the cloned gene is functioning. The S. pombe cells harboring the plasmid pBCP10 exhibited higher survival on the solid minimal media with hydrogen peroxide, tert-BOOH or cadmium than the control yeast cells. They also exhibited enhanced cellular viability in the liquid media containing the stressful agents. The increased viabilities of the fission yeast cells harboring the plasmid pBCP10 were also obtained with 0.4% glucose or 0.4% sucrose as a sole carbon source, and nitrogen starvation, compared with those of the control yeast cells. The total glutathione (GSH) content and total GSH/GSSG ratio were significantly higher in the yeast cells harboring the plasmid pBCP10 than in the control yeast cells. In brief, the S. pombe Bcp plays a protective role in the defensive response to oxidative stress possibly via up-regulation of total and reduced glutathione levels.

      • Estimation of Effective Population and Population Size of The Wild Silkmoths, Actias artemis (Butler et Grey) (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae)

        Actias artemis is a members of the family Saturniidae, also known as wild silkmoths, have impressive color and size. In 2012, estimation of Actias artemis (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) abundance in HECRI was conducted using the mark-release-recapture (MRR) method (Jolly, 1965) from mid to late May. Seven sampling events were accomplished from 19 May, 21 May, 22 May, 24 May, 26 May, 28 May and on 30 May, during the main flight of the species. Marking was made by writing numbers in the hind wing of each individual moths. Most collections were undertaken by a team of experienced four or six researches of HECRI using light trap (mercury lamp: 250W). Seven female and 58 male moths were captured in study site. The effective population size of Actias artemis was 24.9 and heterozygosity was more than 97%. Seven marked moths were recaptured, resulting in 9.7% of recapture rate. The estimated population size of A. artemis showed a peak by 133 individuals on 22 May and then declined. The estimated adult numbers of A. artemis using MRR method from minimum 168 to maximum 5,332 (p<0.05).

      • Inhibition of Snail1-DNA-PKcs Protein-Protein Interface Sensitizes Cancer Cells and Inhibits Tumor Metastasis

        <P>Our previous study suggested that the DNA-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit (DNA-PKcs) interacts with Snail1, which affects genomic instability, sensitivity to DNA-damaging agents, and migration of tumor cells by reciprocal regulation between DNA-PKcs and Snail1. Here, we further investigate that a peptide containing 7-amino acid sequences (amino acids 15–21) of Snail1 (KPNYSEL, SP) inhibits the endogenous interaction between DNA-PKcs and Snail1 through primary interaction with DNA-PKcs. SP restored the inhibited DNA-PKcs repair activity and downstream pathways. On the other hand, DNA-PKcs-mediated phosphorylation of Snail1 was inhibited by SP, which resulted in decreased Snail1 stability and Snail1 functions. However, these phenomena were only shown in p53 wild-type cells, not in p53-defective cells. From these results, it is suggested that interfering with the protein interaction between DNA-PKcs and Snail1 might be an effective strategy for sensitizing cancer cells and inhibiting tumor migration, especially in both Snail1-overexpressing and DNA-PKcs-overexpressing cancer cells with functional p53.</P>

      • Comparison of characteristics of microfibrillated cellulose originating from various food by-products and its usage as a bio-degradable plastic

        Microfibrilated cellulose (MFC) is attracting attention with excellent mechanical strength, flexibility, miscibility, bio-degradability, and thermal stability. In this study, MFC was produced using various food peels such as silver skin (SS), grapefruit (GF), and sweet pumpkin (SP) and the potentiality of using as a nanocomposite was investigated. Among three different alkaline solvents including KOH, NaClO₂, and NaOH pretreated food peels showed a higher glucan recovery yield from 21.69 % to 29.62 % than KOH and NaClO₂. Also, the subsequent blending for 80 min gave better properties of MFC with respect to water retention value and sedimentation results. Each the width of produced MFCs were measured 60.56 nm (GF), 44.29 nm (SS), and 226.03 nm (SP). Subsequently, PLA-MFC composites with 1 phr MFC were prepared by melt compounding at 180 ℃ and 50 rpm for 10 min. Thermal analysis result between various physicochemical analyzes showed a little increased glass transition point and temperature resistance above 48 °C. Therefore, the tensile strength was comparable to that of PLA. In conclusion, the food peels pretreated with NaOH can be applied as a PLA-based bio-degradable complex.

        인삼 추출물 함유 한방화장품이 건강한 성인 여성의 삶의 질에 미치는 영향에 관한 예비 연구; Skindex-16을 중심으로

        본 연구에서는 건강한 성인 여성을 대상으로 인삼 추출물을 함유한 스킨케어 제품의 시료 제시 방법과 여성들의 삶의 질 개선 효과 간의 상관 관계를 분석하였다. 삶의 질이란 질병이나 건강 상태가 일상생활에 미치는 신체적, 정신적 그리고 사회적 영향에 대한 개인적인 반응을 나타내는 개념이다. 이에 저자들은 45명의 건강한 성인 여성을 두 그룹으로 나누어 한 그룹(Group A)에는 브랜드 고유의 패키지를 유지한 인삼 크림 시료를 제공하였고, 다른 그룹(Group B)은 브랜드와 제품명을 알 수 없는 하얀색 통에 담은 동일한 시료를 제공하여 8주간 사용하게 하였다. 피부 관련 삶의 질 평가는 Skindex-16 설문지를 사용하여 시험 초기와 4주 후, 8주 후에 걸쳐 시행되었다. 시험 참여를 중지한 2명의 피험자를 제외한 43명의 Skindex-16 초기값의 평균은 22.70 ± 4.82점이었다. 8주 후, 그룹 A의 Skindex-16 지표는 초기값 23.30 ± 5.14에서 20.20 ± 4.83으로, 그룹 B는 22.17 ± 4.58에서 20.52 ± 3.60로 통계적으로 유의한 정도로 개선되었다. 세부 항목에서는 그룹 A의 ‘증상’ 항목이 4주 후, ‘감정’ 항목이 8주 후에 통계적으로 유의하게 개선되었으며, ‘기능’ 항목은 어느 그룹에서도 통계적으로 유의한 변화가 관찰되지 않았다. 또한, 총합과 세부 항목 모두 측정 시기 및 그룹에 따른 교호작용은 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 확인되지 않았다. 본 실험을 통해 인삼 크림이 포함된 스킨케어가 건강한 성인 여성의 삶의 질에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있음을 확인하였으며, 스킨케어 행위 자체가 패키지에 대한 영향보다 삶의 질의 개선에 주는 영향이 큼을 추측할 수 있다. 장기적으로 ‘삶의 질’이란 기존의 피부과학 지표의 개선과 주관적 만족도의 개념을 넘어 신규한 화장품 효능 영역으로 추가적인 연구가 필요할 것으로 생각된다. This study is designed to analyze the effect of skincare using cosmetic containing ginseng extract, on improving quality of life (QOL) of healthy women, with blind testing. QOL is a concept that represents how one’s disease or health condition can physically, psychologically, and socially influence his or her daily life. The study was conducted to assess the effect of a ginseng cosmetic preparation on quality of life (QOL) using the Skindex-16 score, stratified by blind versus non-blinded option. 45 healthy women aged between 30 and 49 years with no skin disease were recruited for this study. Volunteers were divided into two groups. Group A (n = 22) received anti-aging cream with ginseng extract in the original packaging, which included the brand name and logo. Group B (n = 23) received the same cream in a plain white jar without any package decoration or logo. Both groups used the cream for 8 weeks. For the skin-related QOL assessment, Skindex-16 was used at baseline, forth, and eighth week. All volunteers except two dropouts in Group A completed the dermatology-specific QOL measure, Skindex-16, at baseline, after 4 weeks, and after 8 weeks of treatment with the provided samples. As a result, the mean score of 43 participants at baseline was 22.70 ± 4.82. There was a significant difference between the baseline score and the score after 8 weeks in both groups: The scores changed from 23.30 ± 5.14 to 20.20 ± 4.83 in Group A, from 22.17 ± 4.58 to 20.52 ± 3.60 in Group B. The “Symptom” subscale of Skindex-16 improved after 4 weeks and the “Emotion” subscale improved after 8 weeks in Group A. The “Function” subscale did not show improvement in either groups. Both groups showed no interaction effect between follow up time and groups in Skindex-16 and subscale. This research opens up the possibility of skincare using ginseng cream having a positive effect on QOL in healthy women. Moreover, one can predict that skincare ritual itself may have greater impact on the improvement of QOL, compared to the product packaging.

        현재 온실가스 배출 증가로 인해서 지구의 이상기후현상의 끝임없이 발생하는 가운데 온실가스 감소를 위해서 각 국제기구에서는 여러 규정을 구획하며 노력하고 있는 상황이다. 규정을 지키며 온실가스 감소를 위해서 친환경 선박이 연구되어지고 있는 추세이다. 이 논문은 친환경 선박이 연구되어지는 현 상황에서 친환경 선박, 그중에서 SOFC 연료전지를 이용하는 암모니아 연료추진선박의 case study를 통해서 암모니아 SOFC 연료전지추진선박의 연료추진시스템의 모델링을 하고, 암모니아 SOFC연료전지추진선박이 얼마나 기존의FO를 사용하는 선박과 비교하여 에너지효율 및 탈탄소에 큰 이점을 가져다 줄 수 있는지에 대한 정보를 줄 수 있다. Currently, due to the increase in GHG emissions, the global weather phenomenon is constantly occurring, and each international organization is trying to reduce 온실가스 through various regulations to reduce GHG. To comply with the regulations, eco-friendly ships are currently being studied to reduce GHG. This paper models the fuel propulsion system of NH3 sofc fuel cell propulsion ship through the case study of eco-friendly ships, especially NH3 fuel cells, and provides information on how NH3 sofc fuel cell propulsion ships can benefit energy efficiency and decarbonization compared to existing FO vessels.
