        Influence of Enterprise Innovation Strategy on Enterprise Performance with Environmental Dynamics as the Moderating Variable

        With social development and progress, most enterprises have promoted innovation to a strategic height. Different enterprises make a reasonable choice of innovation strategy according to their own situation, so there are many factors influencing the choice of innovation strategy, and there are many related research. However, the existing research conclusions are still controversial. Based on previous research results, this paper sorts out and refines the dimensions and connotation of enterprise innovation strategy, and divides corporate innovation strategies into dimensions. The purpose of this study is to explore the mechanism of the relationship between enterprise innovation strategy and enterprise performance, and to introduce environmental dynamics into the path of action and build a theoretical model. A total of 345 valid samples through a survey questionnaire were collected from the three provinces in southern China to be able to conduct an empirical study on research model and research hypothesis. In this paper, SPSS25.0 software is used to analyze the effective data. The empirical results show that there is a significant positive correlation between exploratory innovation, pioneering innovation and firm performance, and environmental dynamics plays a moderating role in the relationship between exploratory innovation, pioneering innovation and firm performance. This shows that enterprises should vigorously carry out exploratory innovation and exploitative innovation, and at the same time avoid using exploitative innovation strategies in environmental dynamics.

        동적역량이 혁신 및 재무성과에 미치는 영향: 중국 중소기업의 ESG 경영과 빅데이터 활용의 조절효과를 중심으로

        Purpose First, this study aims to understand the dynamic capabilities and innovation activities (technology innovation, management innovation) of companies in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, and to understand their impact on financial performance. In addition, we would like to consider the moderating effect of ESG management and the big data utilization. In order to achieve this purpose, related literature was reviewed and related hypotheses were derived. Design/Methodology/Approach We think that a company’s dynamic capabilities will have a positive effect on financial performance, and innovation activities (technology innovation, management innovation) will play a mediating role and have a positive effect on financial performance, and a comprehensive model was established. The research model performs an empirical analysis on small and medium-sized enterprises in Zhejiang Province, China. Findings Dynamic capabilities showed a positive effect on financial performance, technological innovation, and management innovation. In addition, technological innovation and management innovation showed a positive partial mediating effect between dynamic capabilities and financial performance. In the research model, the usefulness of ESG Management and the Big Data Utilization through the moderating effect was also revealed. Research Implications This study provides theoretical implications for issues on dynamic capabilities, financial performance, ESG management, the utilization of big data, and innovation activities (technological innovation and management innovation) in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Furthermore, it also presents practical implications for how to establish strategies and use dynamic capabilities for small and medium-sized enterprises that actually operate. In particular, at a time when the 4th Industrial Revolution and ESG management are recognized as a major obstacle to SMEs, this study presents important implications for what dynamic capabilities are important, and how ESG management and the use of big data affect financial performance.

        기술혁신지향성과 기술혁신역량이 기술혁신성과에 미치는 영향

        A considerable number of previous studies regarding technological innovation have focused on technological innovation capabilities as a major factor affecting a firm’s technological innovation performance. In recent years, the concept of technological innovation orientation, which denotes the firm’s collective direction of thought toward steadily pursing and promoting technological innovation in the long run, has been presented as a crucial mechanism leading the firm to superior technological innovation performance. Technological innovation orientation indicates the degree to which the organizational members share the importance and long-term value of technological innovation and the firm-wide efforts and commitment to implement those technological innovations. As such, technological innovation orientation may be characterized as organizational culture representing the value and belief shared by members. While technological innovation orientation has conceptually and practically important implications for securing the firm‘s superior technological innovation performance and sustainable competitive advantage, so far a limited amount of research has been conducted on its role in improving the firm’s technological innovation performance. Given such limitation in prior research, this study empirically examined the impact of both technological innovation orientation and technological innovation capabilities on the firm’s technological innovation performance. Particularly, based on resource-based view and dynamic capabilities theory, this study regarded technological innovation orientation and technological innovation capabilities as two distinct strategic assets conferring a source of sustainable competitive advantage on the firm, and proposed and empirically investigated a theoretical research frame in which those two strategic assets must be complementarily used for the firm to actualize its technological innovation performance in full. For such a research purpose, this study suggested and empirically examined a research model and hypotheses concerning the impact of technological innovation orientation, technological innovation capabilities and the interaction between those two constructs on the firm’s technological innovation performance. To empirically test the proposed research model and hypotheses, this study conceptualized technological innovation capabilities as consisting of four critical dimensions of R&D, production/operations, marketing, and organization capabilities and analyzed the impact of these respective functional capabilities had on the firm’s technological innovation performance individually and through interaction with technological innovation orientation. Analysis of survey data on 86 Korean IT SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) provided substantial support for the proposed research model and hypotheses. Technological innovation orientation was found to positively influence the firm’s technological innovation performance. With regard to the relationship between technological innovation capabilities and technological innovation performance, R&D and production/operations capabilities had a positive effect on the firm’s technological innovation performance, whereas marketing and organization capabilities did not directly affect the firm’s technological innovation performance. Furthermore, the interaction between technological innovation orientation and R&D, production/operations, organization capabilities, respectively improved the firm’s technological innovation performance, while the interaction between technological innovation orientation and marketing capabilities was not correlated with the firm’s technological innovation performance. Results of this study are expected to promote a deep understanding of the relative roles of technological innovation orientation and technological innovation capabilities in creating the firm’s technological innovation performance and ... 본 연구에서는 자원기반관점(resource-based view)과 동태적역량이론(dynamic capabilities theory)에 기초하여 기술혁신지향성과 기술혁신역량을 기업의 경쟁우위를 창출하는 서로 다른 개념의 두 전략적 자산(strategic asset)으로 파악하고, 기업의 우수한 기술혁신성과 창출을 위해 이 두 자산의 보완적(complementary) 조합이 이루어져야 한다는 이론적 틀을 제시하고 이를 실증 분석하였다. 이러한 관점에 따라 본 연구에서는 기술혁신지향성, 기술혁신역량 그리고 이 두 요인 간의 상호작용이 기업의 기술혁신성과에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구모델과 가설들을 제안하고 이를 실증 분석하였다. 제안된 연구모델과 가설들을 검증하기 위하여, 본 연구에서는 기술혁신지향성을 기술혁신을 지속적이고 장기적으로 추진하고 도모하려는 기업의 전반적인 사고방향 또는 조직문화로 개념화하였고 또한 R&D역량, 생산운영역량, 마케팅역량 및 조직역량의 4가지 기능역량을 기술혁신역량을 구성하는 가장 주요한 차원으로 파악 분석하였다. 86개의 국내 IT 중소기업을 대상으로 실증 분석한 결과, 기술혁신지향성과 R&D역량 및 생산운영역량이 기술혁신성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 기술혁신지향성이 R&D역량, 생산운영역량, 조직역량과 각각 상호작용하여 기술혁신성과를 증대시키는 것으로 나타났다. 본 논문의 연구결과는 기술혁신성과 창출을 위한 기술혁신지향성과 기술혁신역량의 상대적인 역할에 대한 심층적인 이해를 도모하고 기업의 우수한 기술혁신성과와 지속적인 경쟁우위 확보를 위한 이 두 요인의 보완적 조합의 중요성을 제시함으로써 자원기반관점과 동태적역량이론의 이론적, 실증적 기반을 지지하는 중요한 연구 자료가 될 것으로 기대된다.

        환경 동태성이 혁신행동에 미치는 영향: 양면성 혁신 인식수준의 매개효과를 중심으로

        Therefore, in nowadays corporation environment with high environmental dynamism, exploration innovation and exploitation innovation are through to be important factors for sustainable growth by securing competitive dominance. For the hotel corporations to pursue persistent competitive predominance, it must accompany innovation behavior; in the perspective of service industry centered perspective, innovation behavior will provide new value to customer and define process of interaction. The research result of empirical analysis can be summarized as the following. First, environmental dynamism showed positive influence on Innovation Behavior. Second, environmental dynamism showed positive influence on the level of perception of ambidexterity innovation. Third, environmental dynamism has on Innovation Behavior showed mediation by the level of perception of ambidexterity innovation. This study is significant as it provided theoretical proof and practical implications for the development of innovation behavior that can interact with customers based on efficient management of human resources through the study on ambidexterity innovation that hasn’t been performed in hotel companies.

        동적역량이 기술혁신의 양면성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

        Balancing explorative and exploitative innovation ambidextrously has emerged as one of the foremost questions in technological innovation research. The ability to jointly pursue both exploratory and exploitative technological innovation is crucial to sustained performance. Prior studies have emphasized that structural attributes and environmental uncertainty are essential to simultaneously pursuing exploration and exploitation in technological innovation. However, differentiated exploratory and exploitative activities need to be coordinated, integrated in dynamically competitive environments for ambidexterity in technological innovation. Based on this idea, we delineate dynamic capabilities which acts as coordination mechanisms and examine how they moderate the relationship between structural attributes, dynamically competitive environments and ambidexterity in technological innovation. To that end, this research focuses on three types of coordination mechanisms in facilitating the processing of disparate demands essential to attaining ambidexterity: top management team (TMT) behavioral integration, connectedness and absorptive capacity. This study developed a research model and hypothesis to explain the relationship among dynamic capabilities acquired by coordination mechanisms, structural attributes, environmental uncertainty and ambidexterity in technological innovation. Main empirical findings are as follow. First, TMT behavioral integration has moderating effect on relationship between structural differentiation and ambidexterity in technological innovation. Second, positive moderating effect of decentralization on ambidexterity in technological innovation operates through connectedness. Third, absorptive capacity exhibits two significant moderating effects; it shows a positive moderating effect on the relationship between environmental dynamism and ambidextrous technological innovation, and it shows a negative one on the relationship between environmental competitiveness and ambidextrous technological innovation. Through this empirical assessment, we contribute to a better understanding of how firms can cope with contradictorily pressures for exploratory and exploitative innovations and how organizations may effectively pursue exploration and exploitation simultaneously to achieve ambidexterity in technological innovation.

        시스템 다이내믹스를 이용한 혁신활동의 수익성 분석: 축산경영의 사례를 중심으로

        본 연구는 축산경영 혁신활동의 수익성 시뮬레이션을 통해 경영자의 혁신활동에 대한 의사결정을 지원하고자 한다. 축산경영의 혁신활동은 다양한 내/외부요소들간의 인과관계가 전체 시스템에 영향을 미치게 되므로 동태적 관점에서 축산경영의 혁신환경을 이해하고 분석할 필요가 있다. 즉, 축산경영 수익률에 미치는 혁신활동들(친환경 투자, 장비 투자, 육질개선 투자 등)과 외부환경요소들(가축 질병 발생 등)은 획일화된 모델링을 하기 어려운 인과관계로 엮여 축산경영 시스템을 구성하게 되는데, 이러한 특성을 고려한 동태적 관점의 연구는 아직까지 미흡한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 시스템 다이내믹스(System Dynamics)를 도입하여 한우농가의 혁신활동에 따른 수익성 분석모델을 정의하고 경영자의 혁신활동에 대한 의사결정에 따른 수익성 분석 시뮬레이션을 수행한다. 본 연구의 결과는 복합적인 혁신요소에 대한 의사결정에 따른 수익성을 시간의 흐름에 따라 비교분석할 수 있도록하여, 추후 축산경영 환경요소의 변화에 따른 경영자의 의사결정을 지원하는데 효과적으로 이용이 가능할 것이다. This research provides a system dynamics-based approach for analyzing profitability of innovation activities in livestock management. Livestock management environment is a complex sytem that consists of various causalities among internal and external factors, and thus analyzing innovation activities of livestock management requires dynamic approaches. Although the internal innovation activities including environment-friendly breeding, equipment investment and meat quality improvement construct causalities with external factors including animal diseases and government policies, few studies from a dynamic view have analyzed the profitability of innovation activities in livestock management. Therefore, this paper defines a profita-bility simulation model concerning innovation activities of livestock management by using sytsem dynamics, and then esti-mates the profits created by decision making related to innovation activities. We believe that this research will help decision makers in livestock management to understand the profitability of innovation activities.

        지식서비스기업의 서비스 혁신에 영향을 미치는 조직의 역량에 관한 연구

        In the service-oriented economy, knowledge and skills are considered core resources to secure competitive advantages and service innovation. Knowledge management capability, which facilitates to produce, share, accumulate and reuse knowledge, becomes as important as knowledge itself to create service value. Along with knowledge management capability, dynamic capability and operational capability are the key capabilities related to managing service delivery processes. Previous studies indicated that these three capabilities are related to service innovation. Although separately investigate the relationship between the three capabilities. The purpose of this study is 1) to define variables that have effects on service innovation including knowledge management capability, dynamic capability and operational capability, and 2) to empirically test to identify relationship among variables. In this study, knowledge management capability is defined as the capability to manage knowledge process. Dynamic capability is regarded as the firm's ability to integrate, build, and reconfigure internal and external competences to address rapidly changing environments. Operational capability refers to a high-level routine that, together with its implementing input flows, confers upon an organization’s management a set of decision options for producing significant outputs of a particular type. The proposed research model was tested against the data collected through the survey method. The survey questionnaire was distributed to the managers who participated in an educational program for management consulting. Each individual who answered the questionnaire represented a knowledge based service firm. About 212 surveys questionnaires were sent via e-mail or directly delivered to respondents. The number of useable responses was 93. Measurement items were adapted from previous studies to reflect the characteristics of the industry each informant worked in. All measurement items were in, 5 point Likert scale with anchors ranging from strongly disagree (1) to strongly agree (5). Out of 93 respondents, about 81% were male, 82% of respondents were in their 30s. In terms of jobs, managers were 39.78%, professions/technicians were 24.73%, researchers were 12.90%, and sales people were 10.75%. Most of respondents worked for medium size enterprises (47,31%) in their, less than 30 employees (46.24%) in their number of employees, and less than 10 million USD (65.59%) in terms of sales volume. To test the proposed research model, structural equation modeling (SEM) technique (SPSS 16.0 and AMOS version 5) was used. We found that the three organizational capabilities have influence on service innovation directly or indirectly. Knowledge management capability directly affects dynamic capability and service innovation but indirectly affect operational capability through dynamic capability. Dynamic capability has no direct impact on service innovation, but influence service innovation indirectly through operational capability. Operational capability was found to positively affect service innovation. In sum, three organizational capabilities (knowledge management capability, dynamic capability and operational capability) need to be strategically managed at firm level, because organizational capabilities are significantly related to service innovation. An interesting result is that dynamic capability has a positive effect on service innovation only indirectly through operational capability. This result indicates that service innovation might have a characteristics similar to process innovation rather than product orientation. The results also show that organizational capabilities are inter-correlated to influence each other. Dynamic capability enables effective resource management, arrangement, and integration.         양면성 혁신의 인식수준이 조직몰입 및 혁신행동에 미치는 영향 - 환경 동태성의 조절효과를 중심으로 -

        오늘날 환경 동태성이 높은 기업환경에서 새로운 역량을 개발하여 장기적 성장을 목표로 하는 탐험(exploration)혁신과 기존의 역량을 재배치하고 확장하여 단기적 성장을 목표로 하는 활용(exploitation) 혁신은 경쟁기업과의 경쟁우위 확보를 통한 지속적 성장의 중요한 요인이 된다고 할 수 있다. 양면성 혁신에 대한 직원의 인식수준에 따라 종사원의 조직에 대한 몰입의 정도가 높아지게 되면 고객에게 제공되는 서비스의 질적 향상을 유발하여 기업의 성과향상을 추구할 수 있을 것으로 기존의 선행연구에서 주장하고 있다. 호텔기업의 지속적 경쟁우위를 위해서는 혁신행동이 수반되어야 하는데 서비스 산업 중심의 관점에서 혁신행동은 종사원이 고객에게 새로운 아이디어와 기술 및 프로세스 등을 수행하는 것으로 정의 할 수 있다. 조직과 개인의 관계에 있어 조직에 대한 일체감이 강한 종사원은 애착의 정도가 높고 조직의 발전에 기여하고자 하는 경향이 강하게 나타나게 되어 조직을 발전시키고자 하는 행동이 나타난다. 같은 맥락으로 다양한 선행연구에서 조직몰입과 혁신행동 간의 관계를 설명하고 있다. 따라서 양면성 혁신에 대한 인식 수준이 높은 직원들은 조직 몰입을 통해 혁신행동에 긍정적 영향을 미칠 것으로 예측 되는데 이는 종사원들이 조직에 몰입할수록 공식적으로 조직에서 요구하는 수준 이상의 과업을 수행하고자 하는 행동의 수준이 높아지게 되며 동료들을 자발적으로 도와주고 조직과 관련된 활동에 적극적으로 참여하는 조직몰입의 수준이 높아지게 된다. 본 연구는 국내 호텔 직원들을 대상으로 양면성 혁신의 인식수준이 혁신행동에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대한 실증연구를 수행한 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. .첫째, 양면성 혁신의 인식수준은 조직몰입에 정(+)영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 정서적 몰입과 규범적 몰입은 혁신행동에 정(+)의 역할을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나 지속적 몰입은 혁신행동에 유의한 영향력을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 양면성 혁신의 인식수준이 지속적 몰입과 규범적 몰입에 미치는 영향은 환경 동태성에 의해 조절되는 것으로 나타났으나 양면성 혁신의 인식수준이 정서적 몰입에 미치는 영향은 환경 동태성에 의한 조절효과가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 호텔기업에서는 이루어지지 않았던 양면성 혁신에 대한 연구를 통해 인적자원의 효율적 관리와 조직몰입을 매개로 하여 고객과 상호작용 할 수 있는 혁신행동의 개발을 위한 이론적 근거와 실무적 시사점을 제시할 수 있었다는데 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다. Therefore, in nowadays corporation environment with high environmental dynamism, exploration innovation with the purpose of long term progress through development of new capability and exploitation innovation with the purpose of short term progress through reassignment of existing capability and expansion are through to be important factors for sustainable growth by securing competitive dominance. Also, based on the level of perception of employees on ambidexterity innovation, the quality of service provided to customers will be enhanced and will pursue the higher performance of the company; such are proclaimed in existing preceding studies. For the hotel corporations to pursue persistent competitive predominance, it must accompany innovation behavior; in the perspective of service industry centered perspective, innovation behavior will provide new value to customer and define process of interaction.In the relationship between group and individual, the employee with high sense of unity has high degree of loyalty and tend to contribute to the development of group and show behaviors to develop it. In the same sense, preceding studies explain the relationship between organizational commitment and innovative behaviors. Therefore, employees with high level of perception toward ambidexterity innovation are predicted to have positive influenceon service innovation behavior through organizational commitment; such means that when group members are taking efforts to perform more than what the group officially demand, the level of activity will grow. The research result of empirical analysis can be summarized as the following. First, the level of perception of ambidexterity innovation showed positive influence on organizational commitment . Second, the affective commitment and normative immersion showed positive influence on innovation behavior; continuance commitment did not show statistically significant influence on innovation behavior. Third, the influence the level of perception of ambidexterity innovation has on continuance commitment and normative commitment showed mediation by environmental dynamism; the influence the level of perception of ambidexterity innovation has on affective commitment did not show mediation by environmental dynamism. This study is significant as it provided theoretical proof and practical implications for the de velopment of service innovation behavior that can interact with customers based on efficient management of human resources and organizational commitment through the study on ambidexterity innovation that hasn`t been performed in hotel companies.

        현대자동차의 경쟁력 원천으로서의 동태적 혁신

        1967년 설립 이후 독자모델의 자동차를 개발하여 1986년 미국시장에 성공적으로 진출한 현대자동차는 1990년대 말에 미국시장에서 퇴출위기를 겪기도 하였으나 품질혁신과 전략적 변화를 통해 글로벌 경쟁력을 회복하고 성장과 이익 측면에서 괄목할 만한 성과를 보이고 있다. 이 논문은 동태적 역량(dynamic capability) 중에서 혁신역량의 관점에서 현대자동차의 발전과정을 분석하고 경쟁력의 원천을 규명하고자 한다. 이를 위해 현대자동차의 발전과정을 기술자립단계, 경영혁신단계, 그리고 전략혁신단계의 3단계로 구분하여 살펴보고, Francis와 Bessant(2005)의 혁신경영의 틀을 활용하여 2000년대의 전략적 변화과정을 집중분석하여 전 세계가 관심을 갖고 있는 현대자동차 경쟁력의 원천과 주요 성공요인을 제시한다. 특히 현대자동차의 지속적 경쟁우위요소로서 품질혁신, 마케팅혁신, 프로세스혁신, 제품혁신을 찾고, 이를 토대로 지금까지의 ‘추격(catch-up)’ 위주의 전략에서 ‘선도(leading)’ 위주의 전략으로 발전하기 위한 시사점과 동태적 혁신을 추진하는 다른 기업들을 위한 시사점을 제시한다. This case study describes the historical development of Hyundai Motor Company and investigates the sources of her competitive advantage. First of all, it reviews the literature on building-up of dynamic capabilities in the automobile industry and suggests the necessity of an in-depth case study of Hyundai Motor Company. Next, as the overview of case study, this study explains Hyundai's development process from 1967 to present which is divided into three phases of technological self-reliance, management innovation, and strategy innovation. Especially, based on the framework of innovation management suggested by Francis and Bessant(2005), it analyzes the strategic transformation of Hyundai Motor Company in the 2000s. From the analysis, as a major source of sustainable competitive advantage of Hyundai Motor Company, it suggests her dynamic innovation which integrates quality innovation, marketing innovation, process innovation and product innovation. This study concludes with future directions for Hyundai Motor Company and implications for other companies and the following studies on dynamic innovation and strategic transformation processes.

        The purposes of the present study are to measure the relationships of dynamic capability, marketing innovation, sustained competitive advantage, performance and evaluate the moderating effect of environmental turbulence. The results of structural equation modeling support the hypotheses that dynamic capability enhances marketing innovation and thus firms' performance. The results also show that marketing innovation fully mediates between dynamic capability and sustained competitive advantage. And the hypotheses that environmental turbulence moderates between dynamic capability and marketing innovation are partially supported. Thus, the results of the present study provide the following managerial implications. First, dynamic capability may be a good strategic orientation for marketing innovation. Second, management needs to make sure that the strengthening of dynamic capability translates into the enhancement of marketing innovation.
