        대한인간공학회지에서의 User Interface 주제 문헌 연구 I – Keyword, Object, UI Type 중심으로

        Objective: By examining and organizing existing research in the Journal of the Korean Society for Ergonomics on User Interface (UI), which is an important field in ergonomics, the content of UI research in the Journal of the Korean Society for Ergonomics is investigated and analyzed. We would like to present the basic data for the future UI research. Background: The term UI includes User, so UI-related research has been actively conducted in ergonomics that naturally deals with human characteristics. So, UIrelated research has been conducted a lot in the Journal of the Korean Society for Ergonomics, an academic journal of the Korean Society for Ergonomics, an orthodox research organization on ergonomics in Korea. However, as of 2022, it is the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Korean Society of Ergonomics, and until 40 years have passed since the publication of the journal, there has not been a systematic investigation of UI field research within the Journal of the Korean Society of Ergonomics. Method: 'UI', 'User Interface', and 'User Interface' were used as keywords to search the literature to be analyzed. The search period was from 1982 to 2021, when volume 1 of the Journal of the Korean Society for Ergonomics was published. As a result, a total of 210 documents were searched from 3 keywords. After deduplication and removal of low-relevance studies, 97 literatures were analyzed according to the purpose of this study. And in the study, the keywords, UI research objects, and UI types related to the study were analyzed. Results: As a keyword, User Interface (UI) was used the most, followed by Usability. UI research objects include Mobile Phone, Smart Phone, and Nuclear Power Plant. As UI types, PUI (Physical UI), Screen UI, Gesture, etc. have been studied a lot. Conclusion: It was possible to derive responses to the three key questions presented in this study. And the meaning of each result could be analyzed by adding the interpretation of the researcher to the representative parts of each result. Application: Comprehensive data on User Interface (UI) research in the Journal of the Korean Society of Ergonomics will be compiled, and it will be fully usable as a reference for future research directions.

        대한인간공학회지에서의 User Interface 주제 문헌 연구 II – Research Methods 및 Results 중심으로

        Objective: This is a secondary study following the primary study that reviewed the Journal of Korean Society for Ergonomics' existing research on user interface (UI), and provides primary data for UI research in the field of ergonomics by organizing the research objectives, research methods, and research results. Background: Because the term UI includes users, UI-related research has been actively conducted in the field of ergonomics, which naturally deals with human characteristics. Therefore, much UI-related research has been conducted in the Journal of the Korean Society for Ergonomics, an orthodox research institute for ergonomics in Korea. However, 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Korean Ergonomics Society, and no systematic research on UI field research has been conducted within the journal until 40 years have passed since its founding. Method: The 97 documents analyzed in the primary study were used as is. Following the analysis of research-related keywords, UI research targets, and UI types in the first study, this study summarized the research objective, methods used, and research results. Results: The most common research activities included UI evaluation, design, and analysis. Moreover, the most common research method was to conduct typical ergonomics experiments based on experimental plans. In addition, the most common research results included presenting design guidelines and designing System UI. Conclusion: We were able to derive answers to the three key questions presented in this second study, following the first study. In addition, the meaning of each result was analyzed by adding the researcher's interpretation to representative parts of each result. Application: This presents comprehensive data on UI (user interface) research published in the Journal of the Korean Society of Ergonomics, and will serve as an important reference for future related research directions.

        MEDLINE 검색을 통한 산업안전보건 분야에서의 인간공학 연구동향 : 워드임베딩을 활용한 초록 단어 모델링을 중심으로

        This study aimed to analyze the research trends of the abstract data of ergonomic studies registered in MEDLINE, a medical bibliographic database, using word embedding. Medical-related ergonomic studies mainly focus on work-related musculoskeletal disorders, and there are no studies on the analysis of words as data using natural language processing techniques, such as word embedding. In this study, the abstract data of ergonomic studies were extracted with a program written with selenium and BeutifulSoup modules using python. The word embedding of the abstract data was performed using the word2vec model, after which the data found in the abstract were vectorized. The vectorized data were visualized in two dimensions using t-Distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t-SNE). The word "ergonomics" and ten of the most frequently used words in the abstract were selected as keywords. The results revealed that the most frequently used words in the abstract of ergonomics studies include "use", "work", and "task". In addition, the t-SNE technique revealed that words, such as "workplace", "design", and "engineering," exhibited the highest relevance to ergonomics. The keywords observed in the abstract of ergonomic studies using t-SNE were classified into four groups. Ergonomics studies registered with MEDLINE have investigated the risk factors associated with workers performing an operation or task using tools, and in this study, ergonomics studies were identified by the relationship between keywords using word embedding. The results of this study will provide useful and diverse insights on future research direction on ergonomic studies.

        The aim of ergonomics is at designing and investigating machine or equipment that people can meet with from the aspect of engineering with aligning all features of machines and environments in the matter of safety and easiness. That is, ergonomics helps in improving workers’ environment and safety, and enables to make decision of selecting tools and/or equipments for product production, and finally, plays an important role in improving products’ development costs and/or quality. As information technology advances, many enterprises, colleges and research laboratories are putting information technology to practical use for research of ergonomics. Among many of them, ergonomics simulation has been researched actively on workers’ ergonomic elements and workers’ environments. Also, with the advances of computer technology such as virtual reality and performance of computer graphics, now it is able to conduct an ergonomics simulation with the digital human. However, controlling posture and movement of digital human is a hard job that requires control of its detailed elements that construct the digital human with much efforts, time and expertise knowledge. Therefore, in this paper, automated ergonomics simulation system is developed for controlling digital human easily and with reduced time, costs and expertise knowledge, with Kinect.

        An Evaluation of Lean Intervention Combined with Ergonomics on Enhancing Productivity and Workplace Risk Reduction: A Literature Review

        Over the past two decades, themes of lean manufacturing and ergonomics have garnered significant attention as are-as of study and integration aimed at enhancing manufacturing processes. An increasing number of companies recog-nize the potential impact of combining ergonomics with lean manufacturing implementation on improving workers' productivity and reducing work -related risks. Yet, there is a scarcity in finding a review whether lean actually improve productivity without endangering ergonomics. This study aims to review the present knowledge about how these sub-ject matters are being applied together to improve company productivity and enhance the health and safety of the workers. With this aim in mind, this paper aims to analyze the qualified published literature dedicated to such issues. It involves a systematic search for studies across several databases, including Scopus, Google Scholar, PubMed, Sci-enceDirect, and Web of Science from 2007-2022. The resulted search is narratively described and statistically is pre-sented as supporting data. Twenty-nine studies are collected and further reviewed. Positive outcomes were noted for all ergonomics interventions in lean manufacturing (LM), including productivity and efficiency increase of the com-pany as a whole. Furthermore, the results showed the essentiality of comprehending the implementation needs for each of these concepts. Consequently, more research will be required to focus deeper in to this issue. This review pro-vide evidence that combining ergonomics and LM in integrated manner can greatly boost productivity within the or-ganization while simultaneously reducing workplace risks. Therefore, the study implies an urgency of combined im-plementation of LM and ergonomics in the manufacturing processes. Overall, this paper is valuable for researchers and practitioners in manufacturing environment.

      • 가우디 건축의 인간공학적 특성에 관한 연구 - 육체, 인지, 조직 인간공학 분류를 기준으로

        안토니 가우디(Antoni Gaudi, 1852-1926)는 19세기 말과 20세기 초의 건축과 시공 기술의 발전에 크게 기여하였다. 20세기 근대 건축의 발전에 적합한 양식과 기법을 예측하고 영향을 미쳤다. 가우디는 인간공학적인 관점에서 새로운 시도를 한 건축가다. 본 연구에서는 육체 인간공학(physical ergonomics), 인지 인간공학(cognitive ergonomics), 조직 인간공학(organizational ergonomics), 세 가지로 나누어 가우디의 건축에서 나타난 각 인간공학적 특성들을 제시한다. Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926) is remembered for his significant contribution to the development of architecture and construction techniques. His works are highly acclaimed for having predicted the appropriate style and technique to improve the architecture of the 20th century. Not only did he have a significant impact on architectural history, but he also experimented with new designs with an ergonomics perspective. The purpose of this study is to propose ergonomic features of Gaudi's architecture, categorized into physical, cognitive, and organizational ergonomics.

      • 우리나라 자동차 인간공학 분야의 연구동향

        In this paper, the trend of studies of automotive ergonomics in Korea is reviewed to contribute to R&D for the high quality and more competitive products of vehicles in the world. First of all, ergonomic and emotional engineering approach, and its subjects are suggested briefly for providing the concept to non-ergonomist. Activities and papers of, mainly, KSAE and ESK for past ten years are surveyed and reviewed only in terms of automotive ergonomics. In results, driving task performance, and ergonomic design factors of vehicle such as cab, safety device, seat, ITS, controls and displays, and so on have been studying partly. But, these subjects have been studying mainly by ergonomists since 2000. It means the study of automotive ergonomics in Korea is the beginning step up to now. Therefore, it is needed that automotive engineers make actively effort to introduce ergonomic approach to their researches, also it is recommended that automotive engineer and ergonomist will be a co-operator in this field.

        Good Practices of Ergonomic Science Communication in Japan

        Science communication (SciComm) is a practical activity that maximizes the utility of academic findings, knowledge, and information. This study examined the good practices and future issues of SciComm in the field of ergonomics, in Japan. The first good practice was the establishment of the SciComm Committee in the Japan Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (JES) in 2020. The second was the ErgonomicThon workshop—an ergonomic Ideathon to discuss new ideas regarding the uses of ergonomic findings. The third was the original SciComm program using infographics to promote the use of ergonomic words in social networking service (SNS) communication. The fourth practice was the challenging online fieldwork conducted using the Google Street View. The last practice was the virtual convivial party held at the 62nd conference of JES in 2021. Based on these practices, we suggest the following three future issues of SciComm: (1) promotion of SciComm, beyond times of crisis; (2) development of ergonomic guidelines for SciComm; and, (3) promotion of online SciComm within the information society. This study outlines the importance of sharing good practices and future issues of SciComm that will help spread the movement of the SciComm in the field of ergonomics.

        에르고노믹스 기술을 도입한 고령자 안락의자 개발

        Background: The needs of the elderly users, who are gradually increasing in proportion to the global aging trend, will become more important in various fields than ever before. The purpose of this study is to develop a multifunctional recliner for the elderly and a portable table by organically connecting engineering and product design and applying the principle of Ergonomics. Methods: Analysis of chair usage behavior and needs of the elderly were done through CCTV analysis and survey in the elderly welfare center and private housing. The basic data analysis for elderly chair design obtained through the previous research was used. The chair design for the elderly was presented by integrating the results obtained through this process. Result: Details of the chair design developed through the Ergonomics design process are divided into the operating unit, the structural unit, the variable expansion unit, the contact material unit, and the net. First, the operating unit includes chair seat elevation as a support function to aid the weakened muscular strength and joints and incorporates the backrest tilting function to satisfy the main purpose of life including relaxation, leisure, and work. Second, the structural unit incorporates the ergonomic design suitable for the body size and shape of the elderly. Third, the variable expansion unit assists daily life as a portable table. Finally, the contact material unit applies finishing material and color based on the user's preference satisfying the emotional needs. Conclusion: The chair design developed in accordance with the principle of Ergonomics will contribute to improve the activity of the elderly, to promote psychological stability, and to live a happy and comfortable life. Based on the results of these studies, we will proceed with prototype production and performance tests for mass production and sales, and expect to obtain patent registration and the good design award. 연구배경: 전 세계 고령화의 추세에 따라 점차 비중이 높아지는 고령 사용자의 니즈는 여러 분야에서 예전보다 더욱 중요해질 것으로 사료된다. 본 연구는 공학과 제품 디자인을 유기적으로 연결하여 사용자로 하여금 최대의 사용 효과와 만족감을 누리게 하자는 에르고노믹스( Ergonomics) 원리를 적용하여 고령자를 위한 다기능 1인용 안락의자 및 생활보조장치인 이동형테이블을 개발코자 한다. 연구방법: 고령자의 의자사용행태분석을 위해 노인종합복지관과 개인주택에 설치한 CC TV 분석 및 방문 대면 조사를 통해 고령자의 니즈를 파악하고, 선행연구를 통해 얻어진 고령자용 의자 디자인을 위한 기초자료분석 연구결과를 참조한다. 이 프로세스를 통해 도출된 결과를 종합하여 고령자를 위한 의자 디자인을 제시한다. 연구결과: 에르고노믹스 설계 프로세스를 통해 개발한 의자 디자인의 상세 내용은 동작구동부, 동작구조부, 가변확장부, 접촉소재부, 넷으로 구분한다. 먼저 동작구동부는 약화된 근력, 관절을 보조키 위해 의자좌판이 들리는 써포트 기능을 적용하고 주생활목적인 휴식, 여가, 작업을 모두 충족하는 등받이 틸팅 기능을 접목한다. 둘째, 동작구조부는 고령자의 신체 치수와 형태에 적합한 에르고노믹스 디자인을 적용한다. 셋째, 가변확장부는 일상생활을 보조하는 Unit로 이동형테이블 개발한다. 마지막으로 접촉소재부는 사용자의 선호도에 기초한 마감재 및 컬러를 적용하여 감성적 요구도 충족시킨다. 결론: 에르고노믹스 원리에 따라 개발된 의자 디자인은 고령자의 활동성을 향상시키고, 심리적 안정을 도모하며, 행복하고 편안한 일상의 삶을 영위하는데 기여할 것으로 사료된다. 추후 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 양산 및 판매를 위한 시제품제작과 성능실험을 진행코자하며 특허 등록과 우수디자인(GD) 획득도 기대한다.

      • Ergonomics Health Impact of Kids while Using Digital Devices

        All over the world work-related musculoskeletal disorders are starting to take hold among digital device users, especially computer users. Weakness, sleepiness, shoulder pain, back pain/solidness/pain in the neck, and cerebral pain are quite often recorded as clear indicators during or after the use of personal computers, laptops, and devices. The most painful fact is that all these delicate indicators are routinely ignored as a sign of general weakness in most cases. This research work highlights this issue under the belt of Ergonomics. How can construct personal computers, laptops, and their associated equipment to be more human-friendly so that these serious health risks can be avoided, particularly in children. The paper also highlights previous important studies conducted at elementary levels of this subject.
