Monochamus alternatus (Hope) is a severe wood-boring pest in coniferous forests and a major vector of pine wilt disease in East Asia. Harmonic radar is a powerful tool for studying the dispersal behavior of insects and it could be applied to control pine wilt disease. In this study, we validated the application of harmonic radar for analyzing the dispersal behavior of M. alternatus beetles in a field environment. We determined the wing capacities of the beetles and the effects of electronic tagging and marking on their movement, flight ability, survivorship, and food consumption in the laboratory to confirm the suitability of this technique. The detection rate and recovery rate for beetles were analyzed separately using radar on caged pine stands and in the field environment. The results showed that the minimum wing capacity of the Japanese pine sawyer was 24.9 mg, which was seven times the weight of the electronic tag (3.5 mg). Marking and tagging the beetles had no significant adverse effects on their movement, flight capacity, food consumption, and survivorship. The detection rate using the radar system and recovery rate based on visual observations of the beetles in caged pines were both 95.6%. However, in the field environment, the detection and recovery rates were only 55.6% and 37.8% after one week, respectively, and 33.3% and 7.8% after two weeks. Harmonic radar is a promising technique for studying the dispersal behavior of the Japanese pine sawyer, but its performance is not satisfactory and major improvements are required for both the radar system and electronic tags.
Ultrasound Utility for Predicting Biological Behavior of Invasive Ductal Breast Cancers

Purpose: The aim of the study was to evaluate the correlation of ultrasound features with breast cancer molecular status. Materials and Methods: A retrospective review was performed of ultrasound findings in 263 patients diagnosed with breast invasive ductal carcinoma for comparison with immunohistochemistric results were obtained from each lesion. Relationships between ultrasound findings and molecular status were investigated by using multiple regression analysis by means of stepwise logistic regression. Differences in ultrasound criteria were assessed among women with different molecular status. Results: ER positivity was associated with small size, lobulate, angular or spiculated margin contours, absence of calcification, posterior tumor shadowing and low elasticity score; PR positivity was associated with small size, lobulate or angular or spiculated margin contours and absence of calcification; HER2 positivity was associated with presence of calcification and absence of any echogenic halo. The calculated models of predicted molecular status were accurate and discriminating with AUCs of 0.78, 0.74, and 0.74, respectively. Conclusions: Breast cnacer ultrasound features show some correlation with the molecular status. These models may help to expand the scope of ultrasound in predicting tumor biology.

Nutrient solution for various Chenopodiaceae leaf vegetables was developed. Various strength (1/2, 1, and 3/2) of nutrient solution recommended by National Horticultural Research Institute, Korea was applied to the crops in deep flow technique system for 27 days. Growth of ‘Atras’ spinach, ‘Detroit Dark’ beet, and ‘Swiss’ red chard was highest in the treatment of 3/2 strength. The proper constitution of nutrient solution for the Chenopodiaceae leaf vegetables was 11 N, 2.5 P, 8 K, 2 Ca, and 2 me/L Mg. The crops were grown two times in March and September to examine the appropriateness of the nutrient solution. Relative growth rate and the amount of ascorbic acid treated with the nutrient solution were increased by 1.1-1.4 and 1.1-1.2 times, respectively, and the amount of chlorophyll was increased by 1.0-1.2 times.

Aiming at the problem that the load disturbance generated by the permanent magnet synchronous linear motor (PMSLM) control system will affect its control performance and the load thrust of the PMSLM cannot be observed well, this design proposes two different load disturbance observers, namely the traditional Luenberger observer and novel internal model control (IMC) observer. The IMC observer observes the load disturbance in the form of proportional and integral, which can effectively improve the identification convergence speed and the compensation control effect. While observing the load disturbance, the two observers in this design can also use the generated thrust current compensation as the feedforward compensation of the system, to achieve disturbance suppression and effectively improve the control performance and robustness of the system. The PMSLM control system based on two observers is built in the simulation platform and the superiority of the designed control system is verified. Through the comparison and verification of the two observers and the no-observer system, it can be concluded that the control strategy can accurately track the load disturbance in the PMSLM, simplify the overall structure of the system, and effectively enhance the anti-disturbance capability and dynamic response capability of the PMSLM.
Nonsingular Fast Terminal Sliding Mode Control Strategy for PMLSM Based on Disturbance Compensation

To optimize the anti-interference performance and dynamic response ability of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) and enhance the overall control performance of the system, the novel nonsingular fast terminal sliding mode controller (NFTSMC) based on disturbance compensation is proposed in this design. To enhance the response speed and stability of the controller, this design introduces the system state variable into the exponential reaching law to make the controller adaptively adjust with the change of the system state, which can reduce the chattering of the system and have a faster response speed. The extended sliding mode disturbance observer is designed to estimate the interference factors in the system, and the controller is feedforward compensated to further improve the anti-interference ability of the PMLSM system. Meanwhile, the control strategy is proved by the Lyapunov stability theory. Simulation and experiments show that the proposed control strategy has better dynamic response ability and anti-interference ability than the traditional NFTSMC.

Biochars were derived from wood and water caltrop shell waste for the adsorption of Cr(III) and Cu(II) insolutions. In the competitive adsorption, Cu(II) had a good affinity for the water caltrop shell and blendedbiochars. The blended biochar was a mixture of wood and water caltrop shell biochars. Each biocharadsorption equilibrium datafit well with the Freundlich model. The effectiveness of the adsorption of Cr(III) and Cu(II) solutions utilizing biochar is proven to be effective in continuous adsorption columns, andthe adsorption performance is verified with model simulation.
백합과 전용배양액이 부추의 Ascorbic acid의 함량에 미치는 영향

본 연구에서는 양수분 흡수율과 양이온 비율에 근거하여 백합과(부추)에 적합한 전용배양액을 개발하였다. 원예연구소 배양액액(NSH)을 1/2배액, 1배액, 3/2배액의 농도로 42일간 담액 수경재배를 한 결과 1/2배액에서 세가지 작물의 생육이 백합과 전용배양액(NSL)의 조성은 N 12, P 2.5, K 7, Ca 4 and Mg 2me/L이다. NSL로 처리한 부추 작물의 상대생장율(RGR)은 1.11배 증가하였으며 엽록소 함량(SPAD value)은 1.16배 증가하였다. 그리고 부추의 가장 중요한 영양성분중 하나인 항산화성분-Ascorbic acid의 함량이 1.16배 증가하였다. As a result, he relative growth rate and the amount of chlorophyll (SPAD value)of Chinese chive treated with NSL were increased 1.11 times. The most important nutrient factor of ascorbic acid were also increased 1.16 times.

The myocardium in hypertensive heart exhibits decreased fatty acid utilization and contractile dysfunction, leading to cardiac failure. However, the causal relationship between metabolic remodeling and cardiomyocyte contractility remains unestablished. Transglutaminase 2 (TG2) has been known to promote ATP production through the regulation of mitochondrial function. In this study, we investigated the involvement of TG2 in cardiomyocyte contraction under fatty acid supplementation. Using TG2 inhibitor and TG2-deficient mice, we demonstrated that fatty acid supplementation activated TG2 and increased ATP level and contractility of cardiac myocyte from the normal heart. By contrast, in cardiac myocytes from angiotensin-II-treated rats and mice, the effects of fatty acid supplementation on TG2 activity, ATP level, and myocyte contraction were abolished. We found that TG2 was inhibited by S-nitrosylation and its level increased in hypertensive myocytes. Treatment with inhibitor for neuronal NOS restored fatty acidinduced increase of TG2 activity and myocyte contraction. Moreover, intracellular Ca2+ levels were increased by fatty acid supplementation in both normal and hypertensive myocytes, showing that S-nitrosylation of TG2 but not alteration of intracellular Ca2+ levels is responsible for contractile dysfunction. These results indicate that TG2 plays a critical role in the regulation of myocyte contractility by promoting fatty acid metabolism and provide a novel target for preventing contractile dysfunction in heart with high workload.
