<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Prussian blue (PB) is known to selectively adsorb cesium (Cs), with a high adsorption efficiency. However, it is difficult to collect it after adsorption, which increases the risk of secondary environmental pollution. In this study, covalent organic polymers (COPs) were used to reform the surface of powdered activated carbon (PAC) particles in order to stably immobilize PB, with the aim of developing an adsorbent impregnated with PB (COP-PAC-PB). PAC particles reformed with COPs (COP-PAC) were analyzed using TEM (EDS) and FT-IR techniques, and it was found that COPs were successfully synthesized on the surface of COP-PAC particles. COP-PAC-PB particles were synthesized by reacting PAC particles with iron(III) chloride and potassium ferrocyanide solutions in order, to synthesize PB within the pores of COPs (<I>in situ</I>). COP-PAC-PB particles were analyzed using XRD and FT-IR techniques, and peaks showing the general characteristics of PB were observed, which indicated that PB existed on the surface of COP-PAC-PB particles. PB was synthesized on the surface of the non-reformed groups (PAC and Ox-PAC) using the same method. In addition, UV–vis analysis was performed to compare the characteristics of PB desorbed from the non-reformed and reformed groups immediately after synthesizing and washing them. In the non-reformed groups (PAC-PB and Ox-PAC-PB), a large amount of PB was desorbed while they were washed 6 times. For COP-PAC-PB, however, a small amount of PB was desorbed during the first washing, but no desorbed PB was observed thereafter. The maximum Cs adsorption capacity of COP-PAC-PB particles was 19 mg/g, and its removal efficiency of radioactivity cesium (Cs-137, 60 Bq/kg) was 97.3%. In this study, the surface of PAC particles was effectively reformed using COPs, and an adsorbent to which PB was stably immobilized was developed.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> COP was grafted surface of powder activated carbon and Prussian blue was synthesized in COP pores (In-situ). </LI> <LI> Synthesized COP-PAC-PB exhibit efficient adsorption for Cs-137. </LI> <LI> PB elution was reliably prevented during the synthesis of COP-PAC-PB. </LI> <LI> It is possible to prevent secondary environmental pollution through stable Prussian blue immobilization of COP-PAC-PB. </LI> </UL> </P>

Aphids feed on host plants by penetrating the stems or leaves with stylets. The feeding behavior of aphids consists of probing, penetration, salivation, and sap ingestion. To assess the effects of sound on feeding behavior, we monitored the stylet activity of the green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), using electrical penetration graph (EPG). The use of EPG was critical for determining the stage, frequency, and duration of feeding in aphids. We played back four acoustic stimuli of sine waves with frequencies of 100, 500, 1000, and 5000 Hz to adult aphids. When the sound was treated, the frequencies of probing, penetration, and salivation increased, whereas the duration of sap ingestion decreased. The 100 Hz and 500 Hz was significantly effective to disturb ingestion of phloem sap. The results of EPG revealed that the acoustic stimuli may restrict aphid feeding by disturbing sap ingestion.

농업기계 운전자가 어느 정도의 소음에 노출되어 있는지에 대하여 미국이나 일본 등 선진국과는 달리 우리 나라에서는 거의 연구가 이루어지지 않았다. 소음 노출 수준의 측정방법은 고용노동부의 고시를 준용할 수 있으며, 이 측정법에서는 마이크로폰의 위치가 작업자의 귀로부터 30cm 이내이어야 한다고만 규정되어 있고 방향에 대해서는 규정되어 있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 고시에서 규정된 위치 내에 부착된 마이크로폰의 방향에 따라 소음 측정치에 차이가 있는지를 확인해보고자 하였다. 본 비교측정을 위하여 사용한 누적소음측정계는 미국 Larson Davis사의 Spark 706RC 모델이었다. 측정조건은 고용노동부 고시에 부합하도록 청감보정특성은 A로, 지시침 동작은 ‘Slow’로, 기준은 90dB, 교환율은 5dB, 문턱값은 80dB로 설정하여 측정하였다. 측정은 트랙터로 포장로를 주행하는 작업을 대상으로 하였으며, 마이크로폰을 트랙터 운전자 상의의 목부분에 각각 왼쪽에서 앞 방향, 오른쪽에서 앞방향, 오른쪽에서 옆방향으로 향하도록 부착하여 3차례 반복 측정하였다. 측정시간은 1반복당 약 10분 정도였으며, 해당 시간 동안의 시간가중평균누적소음(Time Weighted Average, TWA)을 측정하여 비교하였다. 측정 결과, 왼쪽 앞방향, 오른쪽 앞방향, 오른쪽 옆방향에서의 TWA는 각각 90.2, 90.6, 88.6dB (A)로 나타났다. 분산분석 결과 세 처리간에 평균값의 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났으며(p=0.047605), 다중비교 결과 오른쪽 앞방향과 오른쪽 옆방향 간에 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 트랙터의 주요 소음원은 엔진이므로 마이크로폰의 방향이 옆방향보다는 앞방향으로 향했을 때 소음이 더 크게 측정된 것이라고 추론할 수 있다. 또한, 이러한 비교측정 실험을 통해 농업기계 운전자의 소음 노출 수준 측정시 마이크로 폰의 방향은 주 소음원을 향하도록 장착해야 한다는 결론을 얻을 수 있었다.

The green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), is one of the most important insect pests in the world. We have explored the possibility of using sounds as a stressor to control this species. Five sine wave frequencies (100, 500, 1000, 5000, 10000 Hz) with combination of three intensity (66, 78, 90 dB) were used as acoustic stimuli in the playback experiments. For behavioral bioassay, we examined frequencies of honeydew production (HDP) and wagging behavior, and duration of moving behavior. The HDP occurs regularly during each stage of nymphal or mature period, and rate of the HDP indicates a degree of food consumption. Aphids conduct wagging to determine a host plant or to find a feeding site. The moving behavior may be regarded as dispersal. As results, all acoustic stimuli significantly reduced rate of the HDP and increased rate of the moving behavior. There was a significant effect to induce the moving behavior in the test of 5000 Hz. In addition, the acoustic stimuli using 5000 Hz were the most effective to disturb feeding behavior of M. persicae at an individual level.
