        Yong-Jun Deng,Jun Wei,Yang Wang,Bin Zhang 한국원자력학회 2019 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.51 No.6

The fuel rod performance has great importance for the safety and economy of an operating reactor. Thefuel rod performance analysis code, which considers the thermal-mechanical response and irradiationeffects of fuel rod, is usually developed in order to predict fuel rod performance accurately. The FRIPAC(Fuel Rod Integral Performance Analysis Code) is such a fuel rod performance analysis code that has beendeveloped recently by China Nuclear Power Technology Research Institute Co. Ltd. The code aims at thecomputational simulation of the Pressurized Water Reactor fuel rod behavior for both steady-state andpower ramp condition. A brief overview of FRIPAC is presented including the computational frameworkand the main behavioral models. Validation of the code is also presented and it focuses on the fuel rodbehavior including fuel center temperature, fission gas release, rod internal pressure/internal void volume, cladding outer diameter and cladding corrosion thickness. The validation is based on experimentaldata from several international projects. The validation results indicate that FRIPAC is an accurate andreliable fuel rod performance analysis code because of the satisfactory comparison results between theexperimental measurements and the code predictions.

( Yun Deng ),( Bi Sheng Liu ),( Xiong Wei Fan ),( Yue Qun Wang ),( Ming Tang ),( Xiao Yang Mo ),( Yong Qing Li ),( Zao Chu Ying ),( Yong Qi Wan ),( Na Luo ),( Jun Mei Zhou ),( Xiu Shan Wu ),( Wu Zhou 한국생화학분자생물학회 (구 한국생화학회) 2010 BMB Reports Vol.43 No.3

In this study, we report the identification and characterization of a novel C2H2 zinc finger protein, ZNF552, from a human embryonic heart cDNA library. ZNF552 is composed of three exons and two introns and maps to chromosome 19q13.43. The cDNA of ZNF552 is 2.3 kb, encoding 407 amino acids with an amino-terminal KRAB domain and seven carboxyl-terminal C2H2 zinc finger motifs in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Northern blotting analysis indicated that a 2.3 kb transcript specific for ZNF552 was expressed in liver, lung, spleen, testis and kidney, especially with a higher level in the lung and testis in human adult tissues. Reporter gene assays showed that ZNF552 was a transcriptional repressor, and overexpression of ZNF552 in the COS-7 cells inhibited the transcriptional activities of AP-1 and SRE, which could be relieved through RNAi analysis. Deletion studies showed that the KRAB domain of ZNF552 may be involved in this inhibition. [BMB reports 2010; 43(3): 193-198]

Oral administration of Schisandra chinensis extract suppresses Dnmt1 expression in Kunming mice ovaries

        Wen-yong Li,Feng-Rui Wu,Deng-kun Li,Mi-mi Su,Yong Liu,Biao Ding,Rong Wang 한국유전학회 2016 Genes & Genomics Vol.38 No.12

The plant Schisandra chinensis contains a phytoestrogens, a type of naturally occurring estrogens which have multiple functions in a number of biological processes. To investigate the correlation between phytoestrogens and epigenetic modification, especially the effect of phytoestrogens on DNA methylation, sexually healthy female mice were used as an animal model in the present study. Briefly, the total RNA and protein were isolated from the ovary of mice after 7-day oral administration of Schisandra chinensis extract (SCE), while distilled water was given to the animals in the control group. Real-time PCR, Western blotting, and enzyme activity assays were performed to examine the effect of the extract of S. chinensis on Dnmt1 transcription and activity. A promoter assay was further conducted in MCF cells (ER positive) to explore also the influence of SCE on Dnmt1 transcriptional activity. The results revealed that the mRNA and protein expression levels of mouse Dnmt1 were both significantly downregulated in the treated group. The transcription of Dnmt1 was suppressed by SCE and in the E2-added group also. Meanwhile the numbers of oocytes at different stages were increased in the treated group when compared by histological analyses with those in the control group. Taken together, the results indicated that, similarly to the action of estrogen, phytoestrogens affected Dnmt1 transcription in mammals, regulating the related gene expression and cell differentiation. The findings of our examination provided also basic data and understanding for the correlation between phytoestrogens and epigenetic modification.

Synergistic efficacy of LBH and αB-crystallin through inhibiting transcriptional activities of p53 and p21

( Yun Deng ),( Yong Qing Li ),( Xiong Wei Fan ),( Wu Zhou Yuan ),( Hua Ping Xie ),( Xiao Yang Mo ),( Yan Yan ),( Jun Mei Zhou ),( Yue Qun Wang ),( Xian Li Ye ),( Yong Qi Wan ),( Xiu Shan Wu ) 생화학분자생물학회 (구 한국생화학분자생물학회) 2010 BMB Reports Vol.43 No.6

LBH is a transcription factor as a candidate gene for CHD associated with partial trisomy 2p syndrome. To identify potential LBH-interacting partners, a yeast two-hybrid screen using LBH as a bait was performed with a human heart cDNA library. One of the clones identified encodes αB-crystallin. Co-immunoprecipitation and GST pull-down assays showed that LBH interacts with αB-crystallin, which is further confirmed by mammalian two-hybrid assays. Co-localization analysis showed that in COS-7 cells, αB-crystallin that is cytoplasmic alone, accumulates partialy in the nucleus when co-transfected with LBH. Transient transfection assays indicated that overexpression of LBH or αB-crystallin reduced the transcriptional activities of p53 and p21, respectively, Overexpression of both αB-crystallin and LBH together resulted in a stronger repression of the transcriptional activities of p21 and p53. These results showed that the interaction of LBH and αB-crystallin may inhibit synergistically the transcriptional regulation of p53 and p21. [BMB reports 2010; 43(6): 432-437]

      • Experimental and numerical investigation on post-earthquake fire behaviour of the circular concrete-filled steel tube columns

        Yu-Hang Wang,Qi Tang,Mei-Ni Su,Ji-Ke Tan,Wei-Yong Wang,Yong-Sen Lan,Xiao-Wei Deng,Yong-Tao Bai,Wei Luo,Xiao-Hua Li,Jiu-Lin Bai 국제구조공학회 2021 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.38 No.1

Post-earthquake fire is a common disaster which causes serious safety issues to infrastructures. This study aims to investigate the residual loading capacities of circular concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) columns under post-earthquake fire experimentally and numerically. The experimental programme contains two loading steps - pre-damage cyclic loading at room temperature and transient state tests with constant compression loads. Three finite element models are developed and validated against the test results. Upon validation, a total of 48 numerical results were generated in the parametric study to investigate the effects of thickness and strengths of steel tube, axial compression ratio and damage degree on the fire resistance of circular CFST columns. Based on the analysis on experimental and numerical results, the loading mechanism of circular CFST columns is discussed. A design method is proposed for the prediction of fire resistance time under different seismic pre-damage and compression loads. The predictions by the new method is compared with the newly generated experimental and numerical results and is found to be accurate and consistent with the mean value close to the unity and a coefficient of variation around 1%.

The Effect of Level Statistics and Fluctuations on the Specific Heat of Small Metallic Superconducting Grains

        Yong Yao,Li-Hua Ma,Yu-Xiao Liu,Deng-Mu Cheng,Yi Qiu,Li-Sha Wu,Yun Qi 한국물리학회 2016 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.68 No.5

The thermodynamic properties of small metallic superconducting grains are affected by fluctuations in the order parameter and the level statistics, especially in the critical region. Here, the static path approximation was applied to deal with the fluctuations and the thermodynamic contribution of quasiparticles, and random matrix theory was applied to deal with level statistics. The specific heats were calculated numerically in the cases of even and odd number of electrons and different spins.

An experimental investigation on the pressure characteristics of high speed self-resonating pulsed waterjets influenced by feeding pipe diameter

        Deng Li,Yong Kang,Xiaolong Ding,Xiao-Chuan Wang,Zhenlong Fang 대한기계학회 2016 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.30 No.11

The destructive power of a continuous waterjet issuing from a nozzle can be greatly enhanced by generating self-resonance in the nozzle assembly to produce a Self-resonating pulsed waterjet (SRPW). To further improve the performance of SRPW, effects of feeding pipe diameter on the pressure characteristics were experimentally investigated by measuring and analyzing the axial pressure oscillation peaks and amplitudes. Four organ-pipe nozzles of different chamber lengths and three feeding pipes of different diameters were employed. Results show that feeding pipe diameter cannot change the feature of SRPW of having an optimum standoff distance, but it slightly changes the oscillating frequency of the jet. It is also found that feeding pipe diameter significantly affects the magnitudes of pressure oscillation peak and amplitude, largely depending on the pump pressure and standoff distance. The enhancement or attenuation of the pressure oscillation peak and amplitude can be differently affected by the same feeding pipe diameter.

Evaluation and Comparison of the Low-Frequency Oscillation Damping Methods for the Droop-Controlled Inverters in Distributed Generation Systems

        Yong Tao,Yan Deng,Guangdi Li,Guipeng Chen,Xiangning He 전력전자학회 2016 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.16 No.2

The droop-based control strategy is widely applied in the interfacing inverters for distributed generation. This can be a problem since low-frequency stability issues may be encountered in droop-based microgrid. The objective of this paper is to classify, evaluate and compare various low-frequency damping methods. First, low-frequency stability problems are analyzed and an equivalent model of a droop-controlled inverter is investigated to classify the damping methods into the source-type damping strategies and the impedance-type damping strategies. Moreover, the lead-lag compensation network insertion control is proposed as a beneficial part of the source-type damping strategies. Then, the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of damping methods are theoretically evaluated and experimentally tested. Furthermore, the damping methods are comprehensively compared to illustrate the application field of each method. Finally, the synthesis of different damping methods to enhance the low-frequency stability is discussed and experimental validation is presented.

Experimental investigation of the preferred Strouhal number used in self-resonating pulsed waterjet

        Deng Li,Youping Chen,Yong Kang,Zu’an Wang,Xiaoliang Wang,Qi Fan,Miao Yuan 대한기계학회 2018 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.32 No.9

Self-resonating pulsed waterjet (SRPW) is superior to plain waterjet in many ways and is being employed in numerous applications. To further improve the performance of SRPW, the optimal value of the preferred Strouhal number (S d ), which is used to determine the chamber length of a self-resonating nozzle, was experimentally studied at inlet pressures of 10 MPa and 20 MPa. The axial pressure oscillation peak and amplitude were used to evaluate the performance of SRPW, in order to find the optimum S d value. Results show that S dvalue determines the self-resonance behavior of an organ-pipe nozzle and greatly affects the intensity of the axial pressure oscillation. Under the experimental conditions, the optimum S d values are 0.315 and 0.278 respectively, corresponding to inlet pressures of 10 MPa and 20 MPa. Compared with the default value of 0.3 obtained from air jet experiment, the optimum S d value at inlet pressure of 10 MPa is a little larger and oppositely a bit smaller at inlet pressure of 20 MPa. Thus, if the inlet pressure is not considered, S d value of 0.3 is reasonable for determining the chamber length of a self-resonating nozzle for generating effective SRPW.
