천마(Gastrodia elata Blume)의 근경을 말린 것은 한방에서 오래전부터 여러 형태의 간질발작 치료 목적으로 이용되어지고 있었으나 어떤 활성물질에 의해 또 어떤 작용 기전을 통해 약리작용을 나타내는지를 충분하게 설명하지 못하고 있다. 최근 항경련 작용기전 연구 결과 천마추출물의 GABA성 신경전달계에 대한 조절작용과 관련이 있을 것이라는 연구 결과가 보고되었으며, 소량으로도 뇌억제 및 진정작용이 있다는 문헌을 참고하여 볼 때 천마의 항불안 작용 가능성이 시사되었다. 이에 본 연구를 통하여 천마를 사용하여 실험동물에서 항불안 작용을 검색하고 그 작용기전의 일부를 밝히고자 항불안작용 기전에 중요한 benzodiazepine 수용체와의 상호작용을 관찰하였다. 실험 결과, 천마 추출물의 경구 장기투여는 생쥐의 elevated plus maze 검사에서 개방 통로에로의 진입 및 개방통로에서의 체류시간을 증가시킴으로써 항불안 효과를 나타내었다. 천마의 에탄올 추출물은 benzodiazepine수용체 길항제인 [³H] Ro15-1788결합을 억제하였으며, 천마 추출물은 [³H] Ro15-1788의 수용체 결합에 대한 최대 결합력(Bmax)은 변화시키지 않고, 친화력(affinity)을 감소시킴으로써 상경적인 결합 양상을 나타내었다. 또 천마의 에탄올 추출물은 benzodiazepine 수용체의 효현제인 flunitrazepam의 수용체 결합반응을 억제시켰는데, 이러한 억제는 GABA 존재하에서 항진되는 것을 관찰하였다. 이상의 결과로 미루어보아 천마의 에탄올추출물 내에는 항불안작용을 나타내는 성분이 함유되어 있을 가능성을 예상케한다. Gastrodia elata Blume is a medicinal plant which has been used as anticonvulsant in oriental medicine, and has been used as sedatives. A survey of the relevant literature has indicated that the putative anxiolytic activity of G.elata Bl. has not been scientifically investigated. Therefore, the present study was designed to assess anxiolytic property and interaction with benzodiazepine receptor of G. elata BI. The putative anxiolytic activity of ethanol extract of G. elata BI. was performed in mice using an elevated plus maze paradigm. Chronic oral administration of G. elata BI. showed anxiolytic action in mice. It was suggested that regulation of GABAergic neurotarnsmission may be important in the action of G. elata BI. The interaction of G. elata BI. with benzodiazepine receptor was investigated using rat cortices. Ethanol extract of G. elata inhibited the binding of [³H] Ro15-1788, a selective benzodiazepine receptor antagonist to benzodiazepine receptor. The inhibition of [³H] Ro15-1788 binding by G. elata BI. appeared to be competitive. Further, GABA significantly enhanced the potency of this extract in inhibiting [³H] flunitrazepam, a selective benzodiazepine receptor agonist, binding to benzodiazepine receptor. From these findings, it can be concluded that substance or substances with neurochemical properties characteristic of a benzodiazepine receptor agonist may contribute to the anxiolytic property of G. elata BI.

The objective of this project is to develop excellent tourist craftworks that can effectively represent characteristics of the local culture of Joongwon province. For the production of tourist souveniors with useful function, various shapes and popularity, four coworkers have designed and produced craftworks after researching individually in the area's tourist circumstances. Since long before Joongwon province has been a famous tourist place with its surrounding mountains, the Choongju Lake and the tourist industry of the area. To draw more tourists to this province, and to activate the local tourist industry, the development of excellent tourist crafts that can be gaining general currency is a very important job. Thus this study aims at recognizing the problems of tourist souveniors with low quality now having an extensive currency in general tourist area, and also at developing superior tourist craftworks with characteristics of tourism and the local culture. On the basis of motifs that have been various tastes and prices by adopting an effective method of production and material selection.

This study was intended to evaluate condyle position using simple ruler method in sagittal split ramus osteotomy for mandibular setback in 15 patients by paired t-test. We used oblique transcranial radiographs taken before operation and immediate after operation. And we concluded as follows ; 1.The joint spaces changed under 0.2mm were 21.2%, 0.2mm to 1.0mm were 67.7%, above 1.0mm were 11.1%. 2.The mean changes of AJS, SJS, PJS were all increased and SJS was most changed of them, but there is no statistically significant change in SJS. 3,Comparing the preop. measurements with the postop. ones, there is no statistically significant changes in over all joint spaces (P>0.05)

The verrucous carcinoma which was classified by Ackerman in 1948 is generally well differentiated and slow growing. After its radical surgery, it is rarely recurrent of carcinoma. Tobacco chewing is a most important factor in the etiology of these lesion. It frequently affect males over 55 year old age and usually appears on buccal and mandibular alveolar mucosa. The continuing effort by plastic surgeon to reconstruc lips successfully has been accompanied by numerous publications on the subject. More recent communications have dealt with modifications or refinements of existing procedures. In 1974, Karapandzic reported the use of arterialied flaps to reconstruct lips following excisions of cancers. We have treated 65 year old male patient rapid growing verrucous carcinoma on lower lip with Karapandzic flap. Postoperatively the results showed good prognosis. So we report the result of its treatment and case with review of literature.
Multi-agent based IP-USN Infrastructure for Sensor Modeling

IP-USN(Internet Protocol-Ubiquitous Sensor Network) is used as a protocol and proposed by 6LoWPAN (IPv6 over Low power WPAN) Working Group that has a merit of providing easy extension of the topology and service discovery because it uses IPv6. The structure of sensor network based on IP protocol is easy to use commercial networks and to gather location information of sensors and to manage sensor nodes by using agent paradigm, especially. Thus, we propose agent-based sensor system that enhances searching and filtering the sensed information through the mapping between the sensor node and the agent. This system is able to get and to manage the sensed information on LEAP(Lightweight and Extensible Agent Platform) agent platform which is operating in the huge Internet domain.
Purification and Immunological Study of Protease in the Larval Midgut of Pieris rapae L.

배추흰나비의 5령말 유충의 중장에서의 protease를 Sephadex G 100과 DEAE-Cellulose를 이용하여 정제하였다. 여기서 분리된 protease는 전기영동법과 면역학적방법에서 완전정제됨이 증명되었으며 효소의 최종 순도는 약 8.6이며, pH 8.9에서 Rm 값은 0.1이었다. 면역확산법을 이용하여 protease가 5령말 유충의 혈림프 및 지방체내에는 존재하지만 전장, 후장, 타액선 및 말피기씨소관에는 존재하지 않는 것으로 밝혀졌다. A protease from the late fifth instar larval midgut of Pieris rapae was purified by gel filtration on Sephadex G 100 and ion exchange chromatography on DEAE-cellulose. This purified enzyme was proved to be homogeneous by electrophoresis on polyacrylamide gel. The final purity of enzyme is about 8.6 and Rm is 0.1 at pH 8.9. Immunological study revealed that protease in the midgut is present in haemolymph and fat body of the late fifth instar larva but not in the foregut, hindgut, salivary gland and Malpighian tuble.
