The effects of charcoal powder on fermentation of dough and quality of bread were investigated. Charcoal powder was added to wheat flour at concentrations of 0, 0.05, 0.10 and 0.20%. The fermentation time of dough with charcoal was reduced by 4~12 min compared with that of dough without charcoal. The loaf volume index of bread with 0.05% charcoal powder slightly increased. Bread with charcoal powder showed higher textural properties (strength, hardness, springness, gumminess, and brittleness) except for cohesiveness than bread without charcoal powder. Color L^(*) and b^(*) values and hue angle of the top crust decreased while a^(*) value increased with increasing charcoal concentrations. L^(*) and a^(*) values of the inside of bread decreased while hue angle increased with increasing charcoal concentrations. No significant difference in pleasant taste between bread with and without charcoal powder was observed. However, bread with 0.1% charcoal powder showed the highest scores for pleasant odor, color, and overall acceptability.

This research aimed to study on the characteristics of elderly facilities environmental affordance as strategies in response to the aged society. For this, among the documentaries about the aged society, four documentaries were selected. The spatial scenes of domestic and foreign elderly facilities in documentaries were divided according to the spatial category. Among the characteristics of spatial environment of the analysis cases, the 35 scenes picked out from the 123 scenes were utilized. The data were analyzed using the Murtha and Lee’s User Benefit Criteria. The analysis results were the following. Social Facilitation was particularly important at indoor spatial environment of the four affordances. Perceptual Maintenance and Social Facilitation for private spatial environment and Physiological Maintenance and Social Facilitation for common spatial environment were emphasized. Physiological Maintenance and Social Facilitation for management support spatial environment and Social Facilitation for corridor environment were emphasized. Perceptual Maintenance and Social Facilitation were emphasized in outdoor spatial environment. Therefore, for elderly facilities it is important to have Social Facilitation, Perceptual Maintenance and Physiological Maintenance, that support the environment.
여수국가산업단지 인근 지역 대기오염물질 농도에 영향을 미치는 요인분석

Eight monitoring stations in the Yeosu National Industrial Complex will determine the concentration of air pollutants measured every hour in 2019, analyze what factors affect them, and how they correlate with the air pollutant measurements. Six air pollutants (SO2, NO2, O3, CO, PM-10 and PM-2.5) measured at eight monitoring stations around Yeosu National Industrial Complex (Seogang-dong, Wolnae-dong, Munsu-dong, Yeocheon-dong, Deokchung-dong, Hwayang-myeon, Yulchon-myeon, Samil-dong) the measurement data for each hour of the year were downloaded to analyze the concentration by weather condition, time zone, season, separation distance from Yeosu Industrial Complex, and separation distance from Gwangyang Industrial Complex. SO2, NO2, and CO concentrations were significantly higher in winter, significantly lower in summer, and O3, PM-10, and PM-2.5 concentrations were significantly higher in spring. SO2, CO, PM-10, and PM-2.5 concentrations were significantly higher between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., NO2 concentrations were significantly higher between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., and O3 concentrations were significantly higher between 13 p.m. and 15 p.m.(p<0.001). The concentration of air pollutants (SO2, NO2, CO, PM-10, PM-2.5) excluding O3 was found to have a negative (-) correlation with weather condition, and in the case of O3, it was found to have a positive (+) correlation with PM-10, PM-2.5, temperature and wind speed. It was confirmed that the concentration of air pollutants emitted from the Yeosu National Industrial Complex differs depending on the season, time and distance to the industrial complex. This study aims to establish measures to minimize health damage to residents living relatively close to the industrial complex and contribute to the establishment of management and response measures according to the properties of substances to reduce the concentration of air pollutants in the future.
사무직 근로자의 수면의 질 및 직무스트레스와 우울과의 관련성

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the degree of depression, sleep quality, job stress and their association among office workers. Method: A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to 147 workers employed in 5 big enterprises, and 5 small and medium enterprises from October 21 to November 21, 2012. The questionnaires included socio-demographic and health-related characteristics, job-related characteristics, sleep quality, job stress (KOSS) and depression (CES-D). Result: Among all subjects, 23.1% was in the depression group (21 points and over in the CES-D score). Depressive level was positively correlated with job stress and quality of sleep. The adjusted odd ratio for the effects of sleep quality and job stress on depression significantly increased in the depression group compared to that of the normal group. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the following factors of influence had combined explanatory powers on depression: BMI, life satisfaction, quality of sleep, and job stress. Conclusion: The study revealed that complicated influences were exerted on the level of depression by variable factors, as well as socio-demographic characteristics, health-related characteristics, quality of sleep, and job stress. Specifically, the level of depression was influenced by the quality of sleep and job stress.

The objectives of fertilizer recommendation are to prevent the application of excessive fertilization and to produce target yields. Also, optimal fertilization is important because crop quality can be influenced by fertilization. In this study, yields and fertilizer use efficiency of Taro (Colocasia esculenta Schott) were evaluated in different level of NPK fertilization. N, P and K fertilizer application rates were 5 levels (0, 50, 100, 150, 200%) by practical fertilization (N-P₂O5-K₂O = 180-100-150 kg ha<SUP>-1</SUP>), respectively. In the N treatment, the yields of Taro tuber were about 33 Mg ha-1 from 90 to 360 kg ha<SUP>-1</SUP> N fertilization. However, the ratio of tuber to total biomass decreased with increasing N fertilization rate. In the P and K treatments, yields of Taro tuber were the highest at 150 kg ha<SUP>-1</SUP> fertilization. Fertilizer use efficiency was decreased by increase of N and K fertilization. Crude protein of Taro tuber was the highest at practical fertilization. Sucrose content of tuber was influenced by phosphate application.

Among various species of marine bacteria, those belonging to the genus Halomonas have several promising applications and have been studied well. However, not much information has been available on their antibiotic resistance. In our efforts to learn about the antibiotic resistance of strain Halomonas socia CKY01, which showed production of various hydrolases and growth promotion by osmolytes in previous study, we found that it exhibited resistance to multiple antibiotics including kanamycin, ampicillin, oxacillin, carbenicillin, gentamicin, apramycin, tetracycline, and spectinomycin. However, the H. socia CKY01 resistance pattern to kanamycin, gentamicin, apramycin, tetracycline, and spectinomycin differed in the presence of 10% NaCl and 1% NaCl in the culture medium. To determine the mechanism underlying this NaCl concentration-dependent antibiotic resistance, we compared four aminoglycoside resistance genes under different salt conditions while also performing time-dependent reverse transcription PCR. We found that the aph2 gene encoding aminoglycoside phosphotransferase showed increased expression under the 10% rather than 1% NaCl conditions. When these genes were overexpressed in an Escherichia coli strain, pETDuet-1::aph2 showed a smaller inhibition zone in the presence of kanamycin, gentamicin, and apramycin than the respective control, suggesting aph2 was involved in aminoglycoside resistance. Our results demonstrated a more direct link between NaCl and aminoglycoside resistance exhibited by the H. socia CKY01 strain.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Umbelliferone (UMB) is a coumarin derivative present in roots and barks of plants, such as <I>Angelica decursiva</I>, <I>Artemisia capillaris</I>, and orange. UMB has been previously reported to exhibit anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, and anti-cancer effects. However, the effect of UMB on atopic dermatitis (AD) remains unknown. The purpose of this study was to investigate the anti-atopic effects of UMB on 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB)- and house dust mite extract (<I>Dermatophagoides farinae</I> extract, DFE)-treated mice with AD-like skin lesions and on tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α/interferon (IFN)-γ-treated HaCaT cells. In DNCB/DFE-treated mice, oral administration of UMB (20 and 40 mg/kg) for 28 days led to a significant decrease in ear thickness, spleen size and weight, serum levels of immunoglobulin E (IgE), IgG1, IgG2a, TNF-α, and interleukin 4 (IL-4), and mast cell infiltration; it also led to the suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines. In addition, UMB reduced the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines in TNF-α/IFN-γ-treated HaCaT cells via regulation of MAPK, IkB-α/NF-κB, and STAT1 signaling pathways. Analysis of mineral nutrients in plant is required for evaluating diagnosis of plant nutritional status. Pretreatment procedure for the analysis of plant can be varied depending on elements to be analyzed. Wet-digestion is suitable for total nitrogen, phosphate and cations, however, digestion solution including nitric acid is not suitable for nitrogen analysis. Incineration procedure is required to analyze chloride, silicate and total sulfur. After digestion, total nitrogen is analyzed by Kjeldahl method, and phosphate is detected at 470nm by colorimetric analysis with ammonium meta vanadate. Cations and micro elements are determined by titration or colorimetry, also, these elements can be measured by Atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS) or Inductively coupled plasma spectrometer (ICP).
