Doping Effect on the Metal-induced Lateral Crystallization Rate

The effects of phosphorus doping and boron doping on the metal-induced lateral crystallization (MILC) rate have been studied. In the case of phosphorus doping, the MILC rate is very sensitive to the sequence of nickel deposition and doping. Phosphorous doping before the nickel deposition reduced the MILC rate much more than the vice versa. When the nickel removal was between the nickel deposition and phosphorus doping,the doping effect on the MILC rate turned out to be in the between of the two cases which are phosphorus doping before nickel deposition and nickel deposition before phosphorus doping. Boron doping results in the crystallization of a-Si at a lower temperature (550°C) compared with that of the solid phase crystallization (SPC). The sheet resistance of boron doped Si remained high because the boron dopants were segregated at the grain boundaries during crystallization of a-Si.
Sliding Mode Control of Three-Phase Four-Leg Inverters via State Feedback

To optimize controller design and improve static and dynamic performances of three-phase four-leg inverter systems, a compound control method that combines state feedback and quasi-sliding mode variable structure control is proposed. The linear coordinate change matrix and the state variable feedback equations are derived based on the mathematical model of three-phase four-leg inverters. Based on system relative degrees, sliding surfaces and quasi-sliding mode controllers are designed for converted linear systems. This control method exhibits the advantages of both state feedback and sliding mode control. The proposed controllers provide flexible dynamic control response and excellent stable control performance with chattering suppression. The feasibility of the proposed strategy is verified by conducting simulations and experiments.

The brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens negatively affects rice yield by sucking nutrients from the rice stem and spreading viruses. In this study, the effects of sublethal concentrations of abamectin on development, fecundity, and wing morphs of N. lugens were investigated. Treatment with sublethal concentrations of abamectin showed no significant effects on the developmental period of F 0 nymphs. Although LC 10 and LC 25 treatments resulted in 10% and 25% mortality, the LC 25 treatment significantly prolonged the lifespan of macropterous and brachypterous females. Abamectin-treated brachypterous females showed significantly lower fecundity than control females. Furthermore, abamectin treatment showed no significant effects on the developmental period of F 1 nymphs. However, LC 25 treatment significantly inhibited the fecundity of brachypterous F 1 females and significantly reduced the proportion of macropterous F 1 females and brachypterous F 1 males. LC 25 treatment showed no significant effects on the fecundity of macropterous F 1 females. Considering the proportion of macropterous and brachypterous F 1 females, the relative fitness of the macropterous F 1 nymphs in the control, LC 10 , and LC 25 treatment groups was 1, 1.02, and 0.84, respectively, and that of brachypterous F 1 nymphs was 1, 0.79, and 0.93, respectively. Sublethal concentrations of abamectin inhibited N. lugens emergence. The present findings indicate the potential of abamectin for N. lugens field control.

A Fast Rough Mode Decision Algorithm for HEVC

HEVC is the high efficiency video coding standard, which provides better coding efficiency contrasted with the other video coding standard. But at the same time the computational complexity increases drastically. Thirty-five kinds of intra-prediction modes are defined in HEVC, while 9 kinds of intra prediction modes are defined in H.264/AVC. This paper proposes a fast rough mode decision (RMD) algorithm which adopts the smoothness of the up-reference pixels and the left-reference pixels to decrease the computational complexity. The three step search method is implemented in RMD process. The experimental results compared with HM13.0 indicate that the proposed algorithm can save 39.7% of the encoding time, while Bjontegaard delta bitrate (BDBR) is increased slightly by 1.35% and Bjontegaard delta peak signal-to-noise ratio (BDPSNR) loss is negligible.
