This study developed an auto tool change system of the SMA-based tool clamping device for applications of micro-machine tools. This paper first introduces clamping/unclamping mechanisms of the auto tool change system and its basic configuration. In addition, it shows experimental results of times needed for clamping/unclamping operations of a prototype of the auto tool change system. The average values were estimated to 7.2(s) and 2.6(s) respectively. These results confirm that the auto tool change system is feasible.

In the article named "Revolution of thoughts" in the collection of article of Cheongju University, Vol. 9, in 1976, I argued that we must admit the existence of the some operationability in an ultimate particle, and I named the particle, which has a self-cause, as a viscid particle. This particle is not the one which physicists and chemists have thought so far as an atomic particle, but the one which has a self motive-cause, and hence it should be described by the structure of the particle. Embryology and Oriental medical science would provide good data for the explanation of the problem, and if we put it as Oriental intellectuals have believed, it gives us the image of a particle which contains the various causes in physics in the present day. Furthermore, it is the image of an active particle; in another word, that of a viscid particle, and I am sure that the image of this new particle as a new principle will help to solve various difficulties that we encounter in every field of science nowadys.

A 3-month-old, 3.85kg female Jin-do dog with chief complaint of bloody diarrhea and depression was referred to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Chungnam National University. In fecal examination, trophozoites of giardia were observed and It was diagnosed as canine giardiasis. For treatment, metronidazole was administered orally for 5 days at a dose of 22mg/kg q12h. Diarrhea was not observed on 3 days after medication and most of clinical signs were disappeared on 7 days after medication with metronidazole. General conditions and activitivities became good on 13 days after medication. In addition, cysts or trophozoites of giardia were not detected any more in fecal examination using floating method with zinc sulphate solution. The present patient was a case of canine giardiasis that showed favorable response to metronidazole.

In this paper, a micro workpiece clamping device, which is possible to be applied in micro machine-tools, based on a shape memory alloy is introduced. Especially, the train procedure to transform a commercial one-way shape memory alloy into a two-way shape memory alloy is described. Also, it is experimentally verified that through the train procedure, the applied shape memory alloy ring exhibits two-way shape memory behavior of 220㎛ deformation. In addition, a conceptual design and a basic configuration of the work-piece clamping device using the two-way type shape memory alloy are suggested.

This paper presents analysis and experimental results for effects of centrifugal force of the SMA-based tool clamping device. First, the corresponding theories of radial deformations resulting from the centrifugal force were described, and based on them, the radial deformations of the contact region between a tool and a tool holder were verified according to rotational speeds. Next, as for 3D-model of the tool holder, analysis of the radial deformations were carried out based on FEM. Finally, the feasibility of the SMA-based tool clamping device at high-rotational speed was experimentally verified by monitoring the clamped tool in mill-machining at 220,000rpm.

Objectives : It is widely accepted that gonadal steroids are involved in organization and activation of sexual dimorphism in the brain areas related with spatial leaming. This study aimed to test the following hypothesis : 1) spatial memory is affected by sex, 2) this difference is related with brain differentiation by exposure to testosterone in the neonatal period, and/or 3) the sexual difference of spatial memory is the result of the interaction between organization of sexual dimorphism in the brain and the circulating testosterone after growing up. Methods : Testosterone enanthate 100 ㎍, ('androgenized') orvehicle ('control') was randomly administered to 28 female and 25 male rat pups within 24 hour of birth. The escape latencies (EL) in Morris water maze were measured in 15 and 16 week of age with vehicle ('baseline') and with 10 μmol/kg of testosterone ('with testosterone'), respectively. Each session Consis-ted of 10 trials, and means of the last 5 trials were analyzed. Results : The baseline EL of the males were significantly shorter than females regardless ofneonatal exposure to testosterone. With testosterone, EL of the androgenized females were significantly shorter than control females and comparable to those of males. Conclusion : Neonatal exposure to testosterone in female rats may develop a tesosterone-dependent male-like spatial leaming system.
