      • English Paper Presentation 1: Resuscitation/Airway Management : OE2-4 ; Protective Effect of Adiponectin on Paraquat-Induced Pulmonary Fibrosis in Mice

        Pulmonary fibrosis is one of the most common complications of paraquat (PQ) poisoning which accounts for high mortality. Accumulating evidence suggest adiponectin (APN), an adipocytokine predominantly secreted by adipocytes, maybe a promising therapeutic option in fibrotic diseases. Here we aim to evaluate the potential effect and mechanism (s) of exogenous globular form of APN on PQ-induced pulmonary fibrosis. Eighty BALB/C mice were divided into four groups (control group, PQ intoxication group, PQ + low dose APN group and PQ + high dose APN group) and sacrificed on days 3, 7, 14 and 21. Lung tissues were collected and analyzed histologically and biochemically. Human lung fibroblasts WI-38 were divided into three groups (control group, PQ intoxication group and APN group) and collected for measurements at 24, 48 and 72 h after PQ stimulation. HE and Masson trichrome staining were used to observe the histological alterations of lungs. The Ashcroft score of lungs were also measured. Cell apoptosis was measured by Annexin V-FITC/PI double labeling. Dihydroethidium (DHE) was used to detect intracellular O2-. The protein and mRNA expression level of TGF-β1, NF-κB p65,α -SMA and IL-1Ra were assessed by Western blot and Real-time quantitative flouorescence-PCR. APN administration significantly ameliorated PQ mediated fibrotic histological alterations and reduced the protein and mRNA expression of TGF-β1 and NF-κB p65 in lung tissues of mice in a dose-dependent manner. Also, Pretreated with APN down-regulated the expression of α -SMA, O2- and NF-κB p65 in WI-38 lung fibroblasts exposure to PQ, while up-regulated the expression of anti-inflammatory factor IL-1Ra. Taken together, this study reveals the beneficial effect of APN against PQ-induced pulmonary fibrosis in a dose-dependent manner, which may through suppressing NF-κB dependent inflammatory and TGF-β1 mediated fibrotic events.

        Optimal Trade and Privatization Policies in an International Mixed Market

        This paper examines the optimal trade and privatization policies in an international mixed market where a domestic public firm competes against domestic and foreign private firms. We consider a trade policy combination of production subsidy and import tariff, and compare the optimal trade and privatization policies under either Cournot or Stackelberg competition. We find that the optimal trade policies consist of a domestic production subsidy and an import tariff, which are identical under the two regimes regardless of the competition pattern. However, the optimal privatization policy depends on the competition patterns, whether Cournot or Stackelberg competition. In particular, the optimal privatization policy under Cournot competition is complete privatization, whereas that under Stackelberg competition is full nationalization. Finally, we show that if the government can only use a single trade policy instrument, the production subsidy gives a better social welfare benefit than the import tariff.

        Aiming at the provincial level within the grid wide-area distributed substation equipment on-line monitoring various types, processing of large amount of data and communication standard is not unified. Optimization of the structure of communication between the various levels, researched open communication format specification, established data interaction integration model. The paper studied the wide-area distributed on-line monitoring comprehensive processing unit of end stations with provincial level network of on-line monitoring system for the main platform of communication technology. Application shows that systems runs stability and meet online monitoring data collection, processing, transmission, and other functions, and has good maintainability and extensibility, adapt to various on-line monitoring in province level the development trend of the main platform for centralized management.

        Whole Cell-mediated Biocatalytic Synthesis of Helicid Cinnamylate and Its Biological Evaluation as a Novel Tyrosinase Inhibitor

        Tyrosinase inhibitors are clinically effective for treating some dermatological disorders related to melanin hyperpigmentation. Accordingly, the discovery and development of tyrosinase inhibitors have great value in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry. Here, a novel tyrosinase inhibitor, 6′-O-cinnamoyl-helicid (helicid cinnamylate) was successfully synthesized by a simple and effective biocatalytic approach with Aspergillus oryzae cells. Investigation of the effects of several key variables on helicid cinnamylate synthesis found that the reaction conversion, reaction rate and regioselectivity reached 99%, 9.40 mM/h and > 99%, respectively, at the optimal conditions with anhydrous acetone as the solvent, whole-cell concentration of 40 mg/mL, and the molar ratio of vinyl cinnamate to helicid of 10 at 45°C. The whole-cells retained 68.87% of its initial activity after reusing for seven batches, indicating a potent application potential in non-aqueous biocatalytic systems. It was worth noting that helicid cinnamylate demonstrated a more potent tyrosinase inhibitory activity with an IC50 value of 3.55 mM than helicid (IC50 = 4.48 mM) and arbutin (IC50 = 5.48 mM), which suggest that helicid cinnamylate could be developed as a more potential tyrosinase inhibitor. In conclusion, this study provides a novel whole-cell catalytic approach for the synthesis of helicid cinnamylate and insight into its application as a tyrosinase inhibitor.

        중국 무협(武俠)의 탄생과 역사적 변천이 중국 무술전개에 미친 영향

        본 연구는 중국 고대시기에 대표적인 무인계층인 무협의 탄생과 탄생 이후 고대 각 시대에서의 변천을 살펴봄에 따라 무협의 탄생과 변천이 중국 무술전개에 있어서 미친 영항을 탐색하는데 목적을 두었다. 이러한 연구목적에 따라 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 무협의 탄생은 중국 무술의 전문화, 직업화를 촉진시켰고, 후세 무술의 전문화 과정을 이끄는 주요한 역할을 수행하였다. 무협들이 초기부터 형성된 의리개념은 후세 무협들에게 윤리적 가치관이 형성되는데 있어 기초를 마련하였으며, 후세 무술인들에게 교육적인 역할을 하였다. 그리고 중국 역사상 각 시기에서 무협의 활동범위와 방식에 대한변천은 그 당시의 통치자, 또는 통치층의 중문경무(重武輕文)이나(重文輕武)라는 의지와 매우 큰 관계가 있었으며, 그러한 의지들이 한 시기 무협들의 활동범위에 좌우할 수 있는 영향을 미쳤다. 그럼에도 불구하고 각 시기에서 무협들의 활동범위가 달랐지만 꾸준히 활발하게 활동하였으며, 그들의 활동에 따라 각 시기 무술의 전파 및 보급에 매우 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다고 볼 수 있다. 특히, 수당(隋唐)시기에 무협이 문화로 형성된 이후 중국 고대 무술전승에 있어서 더욱 다양한 역할을 하였다고 생각된다. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect that the emergency and change of Chinese Wu Xia, the representative warriors stratum in ancient China, would have on martial art development in China by looking into the emergence of Chinese Wu Xia and the changes thereafter in each period of ancient China. Based on such objective, the following conclusions were derived. The emergence of Chinese Wu Xia promoted specialization and professionalization of Chinese martial art and played a leading role in leading the specialization process of martial art in future generations. The concept of loyalty, formed by Chinese Wu Xia from early period, laid foundation for formation of ethical value among Chinese Wu Xia of future generations and served educational roles for martial artists of future generations. Moreover, the changes in scope and mode of activities among Chinese Wu Xia in each period of Chinese history were very closely related to the policy of ruler or ruling class which placed martial art above literature or vice versa at that time, and such policy significantly affected the activity scope of Chinese Wu Xia in concerned period. Nonetheless, Chinese Wu Xia engaged themselves in activities steadily and vigorously, albeit different scope of activities, in each period. Their activities had a very positive effect on the dissemination and distribution of martial arts in each period. Particularly, Chinese Wu Xia is considered to have played even more diverse role in passing down martial arts of ancient China after Chinese Wu Xia was established as a culture in the period of Sui and Tang Dynasties.

        Overexpression of IbMPK3 increases low-temperature tolerance in transgenic sweetpotato

        Sweetpotato is an important crop that is very sensitive to low temperatures. Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) is involved in plant growth and development and is responsive to many environmental stresses. IbMPK3 is strongly regulated by low-temperature stress. We studied the function of IbMPK3 and how it may enhance the adaptability of sweetpotato plants to low-temperature stress. Transgenic sweetpotato plants overexpressing IbMPK3 were generated, and three trans- genic lines with the highest expression level of IbMPK3 were used for low-temperature tests. Transgenic plants exposed to low-temperature stress had less damage associated with higher photosynthesis efficiency and less cell membrane damage. IbMPK3-overexpressing transgenic plants could modulate reactive oxygen species (ROS) metabolism with lower levels of O2− and H2O2 accumulation and higher enzymatic activities than WT plants. Transcript expression levels of some ROS- related genes (IbCAT, IbCu-ZnSOD, and IbCAT) and stress-responsive genes (IbP3B and IbCOR27) were significantly upregulated in transgenic plants compared to WT. These results indicate that IbMPK3 has an important role in sweetpotato response to low temperatures.

      • Construction of locust-pathogenic fungal library and use as biological control agents

        ocust, Locusta migratoria (Orthoptera: Acrididae) is one of the outbreaking pests worldwide and such big occurrence was recorded in 2014, Korea, however little consideration was given to the management strategy of the pest. Herein we established a indoor locust-rearing system and constructed a locust-pathogenic fungal library to further facilitate the resources to be used as possible biological control agents. A locust colony was provided from the National Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology and reared in corn or barley plants at artificially manipulated rooms. The critical developmental stages, such as oviposition, hatching and mating were successfully proceeded. Entomopathogenic fungal granules were treated to the locust (2 g/rearing box), and in 5~7 days mycosis was observed in the membranous cuticles of head, abdomen and legs. In particular JEF-003 (Metarhizium anisopliae), JEF-186 (M. lepidiotae) and JEF-187 (Clonostachys rogersoniana) showed high virulence against the locust. A population of locust was exposed to the entomopathogenic fungal conidia-incorporated soil to investigate the possibility of the fungal isolation from natural soil, which resulted in the pathogenesis in 7~10 days in laboratory conditions. More than 80% of control efficacy was observed in the greenhouse trial of fungal granular application. This work suggests that locust rearing system was successfully established and entomopathogenic fungi can be used to control the migratory locust.
