Although the importance of good conservation of historic sites including ancient royal tombs is well aware, still not much attention has been paid for the facilities and systems to preserve those historic sites, which includes precious artifacts as wall paints and carved works, etc. Even the general understanding about the environment of the underground space of tombs is not satisfactory. In Korea, researchers have recently begun addressing the above issue and are making efforts to develop suitable HVAC(heating, ventilating and air-conditioning) systems for conservation of tombs. An experimental investigation was carried out to study the behavior of the HVAC system installed for a tomb. This tomb resembles in size and shape the original stone built tomb of Baek-je Dynasty, which dates back to 6th Century in southwest part of Korean peninsula. In this study, an HVAC system for a tomb(D×W×H=1.3m×3.0m×1.2m) was installed to maintain sui표 indoor conditions for conservation of tomb. The temperature and humidity inside the tomb were measured different of the setting. Finally, performance of the HVAC system is presented and discussed.

2002년 3월부터 2003년 10월까지 유명산 자연휴양림을 대상으로 식물상과 산림군락구조를 조사한 결과, 관속식물이 98과 331속 570종 1아종 81변종 4품종 2교잡종으로 총 658종류로 나타났으며, 한국특산식물은 10과 14속 13종 2변종 1교잡종 총 16종류. 희귀 및 멸종위기식물은 9과 10속 11종 총 11종류, 귀화식물은 12과 22속 28종 총 28종류로 나타났다. 산림군락은 신갈나무-철쭉군목, 신갈나무-생강나무군단, 소나무-산거울군락, 잣나무-주름조개풀군락, 물푸레나무-신갈나무군락, 층층나무-신갈나무군락, 굴참나무-신갈나무군락, 싸리-신갈나무군락으로 전체 1군목, 1군단, 6군락이 분포하는 것으로 나타났다. The study was carried out to investigate the flora and community classification of forest vegetation in Mt. Yumyeong from March, 2002 to October, 2003. As a result of that, the vascular plants were 98 families, 331 genera, 570 species. 1 subspecies, 81 varieties, 4 formae, 2 hybrid, 658 taxa in all. Korean endemic plants were 10 families, 14 genera, 13 species, 2 variaties, 1 hybrid. 16 taxa in all ;, rare and endangered plants were 9 families, 10 genera. 11 species, 11 taxa in all ; naturalized plants were 12 families, 22 genera, 28 species, 28 taxa in all. The forest vegetation was classified into 1 order, 1 alliance. 6 communities : Rhododendro - Quercetalia mongolicae (Kim, 1990) Lindero - Quercion mongolicae (Kim, 1990) A. Coleus forskohlii Briq. of the family Lamiaceae yields a valuable secondary metabolite known as forskolin which is a labdane diterpenoid. Coleus forskohlii is the only known source of this compound. Forskolin is used in medicine for the treatment of glaucoma, congestive cardiomyopathy and asthma. Morphogenic callus was induced from young leaves on MS medium augmented with NAA and BA. These calli, when subcultured on MS with KN alone gave rise to shoots. The regenerated shoot developed good root system on MS medium fortified with NAA. The fully grown plantlets were transferred to soil for acclimatization. Coleus plant is mainly infected by a fungi Lasiodiplodia theobromae which causes root of disease. The fungal culture filterate (FCF) of Lasiodiplodia theobromae, has been used in regeneration media to find the MIC and further to select resistant plants to the pathogen. In the present study 40% FCF in the medium showed maximum inhibition and is there fore considered as the MIC level of Coleus forskohlii. This data could prove to be useful for the future for selecting a resistant C,forskohlii plant against the root disease caused by L.theobromae.

It is known as that onion is antioxidation effect, antibiotic effect, blood pressure decreasing effect and reducing serum cholesterol levels. This research about effect that onion concentrate gets blood cholesterol levels and body composition. Subject was 17 adult men of hyperlipidemia. Age distribution of investigation subjects were average 49.4 years old by 40 ~ 56 years old, and average height and weight were 167.6 cm and 75.5 kg each, BMI was 26.9 kg/㎡, and BMR was 1,460.6±87.5kcal, and AMC was 25.0±1.05cm, and BCM was 41.0±2.79cm. In the meantime, the body muscle was 53.7±3.7kg, and fat mass was 18.7±3.8kg, and intracellular fluid was 26.6±1.8kg, and extracellular fluid was 12.8±0.9kg. The % body fat was 24.6±3.8% , and fat distribution was 0.9±0.0%, and the obesity degree was 125.4±8.2%. Vegetables, seaweeds, fruits and juices increased by change of dietary life and greasy foods, instants, breads, rices etc. decreased or there was no change, fast foods and eggs were no change. Also, subject previewed that guidance about stress, smoking, drinking and beverage intake need. If compared the nutrient intake amount with before onion concentrate allowance, it was similar level almost without significant. Energy, calcium and riboflavin are lower than the RDA for koreans. After 3 months, the levels of plasma total cholesterol, triglycerides had decreased significantly : 15.0%, 31.2% respectively. And the HDL-cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels also showed a marked reduction of 6.8%, 8.7% respectively. Plasma lipid level change by onion concentrate supplement would can know that case of triglyceride more greatly than plasma cholesterol. The pH and Na^+ level of plasma were low significant since 8 weeks after, and K^+ level increase significant. While Ca^++ level was low significant after 1 month , there was no change since 2 months after, but nCa^++ level was low significantly. Plasma Mg^++ level was no change and nMg^++ level was low significant after intake.

<P>A series of anthracene derivatives with a triphenylsilane end-capping group, (9,9-dimethyl-2-(10-phenylanthracen-9-yl)-9<I>H</I>-fluoren-7-yl)triphenylsilane (PAFTPS), 9,10-bis(9,9-dimethyl-2-(triphenylsilyl)-9<I>H</I>-fluoren-7-yl)anthracene (BFPSA), (9,9-dimethyl-2-(9,10-diphenylanthracen-2-yl)-9<I>H</I>-fluoren-7-yl)triphenylsilane (DPA-2FTPS), and (9,10-eiphenylanthracen-2-yl)triphenylsilane (DPA-2TPS), have been designed, synthesized, and characterized. A device incorporating PAFTPS as the emissive layer exhibited a high external quantum efficiency of 2.02% at 20 mA cm<SUP>−2</SUP> with color coordinates of (0.152, 0.072) as a non-doped blue emitter. At even higher efficiency, an external quantum efficiency up to 2.32% at 20 mA cm<SUP>−2</SUP> with color coordinates of (0.155, 0.076) was obtained when doped with the blue fluorescent material, 3-(<I>N</I>-phenylcarbazol)vinyl-<I>p</I>-terphenyl (PCVtPh). Furthermore, an efficient white OLED with an external quantum efficiency, a luminous efficiency and color coordinates of 4.18%, 9.14 cd A<SUP>−1</SUP> at 1000 cd m<SUP>−2</SUP> and (0.43, 0.41) at 1000 cd m<SUP>−2</SUP> was demonstrated by exploiting this highly efficient blue fluorescent material (PAFTPS) as a host in the blue emitting layer.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>Four anthracene derivatives with triphenylsilane end-capping groups, which have enhanced thermal and morphological stability, were synthesized. Objectives: This study is conducted to identify the effects of the activity program for preventing dementia against depression, cognitive function, and quality of life for the elderly. Methods: A non-equivalent control group with pretest-posttest design was used on 50 elderly who were assigned to the experimental and control group (25 for each group). Results: Cognitive function was significantly different between the two groups of the pretest and posttest (Z=4.217, p<.001). There were significant differences between the two groups of the pretest and posttest (Z=-2.324, p=.020) for the quality of life on the EQ-5D index. Conclusions: These findings confirmed that the activity program for preventing dementia was effective for improving cognitive functions and quality of life for the elderly. Therefore, it is further encouraged to perform the activity programs for preventing dementia within other community health posts and community centers. It is necessary to study the emotional supports from community health posts in the future.

Eisenmenger`s syndrome describes the elevation of pulmonary arterial (PA) pressure to the systemic level caused by an increased pulmonary vascular resistance with reversed or bi-directional shunt through an intracardiac or aortopulmonary communication. We report a case of an emergent craniotomy for cerebellar abscess in a 21-year-old male patient with Eisenmenger syndrome secondary to Large VSD. A PA catheter was inserted via right femoral vein, but could not be advanced pass the pulmonic valve. After futile attempts to place the catheter tip in the right ventricle. Anesthesia was induced with etomidate, rocuronium, midazolam and fentanyl and maintained with only high dose fentanyl. Milinone and norepinephrine were infused continuously to decrease right to left shunt. He was transferred to the intensive care unit under intubated state and treated with antibiotics for a few days due to intermittent high fever. The operation ended without major complications and the patient was discharged 42 days later. (Korean J Anesthesiol 2009;57:666∼9)

Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is a rare form of cardiomyopathy associated with a significant morbidity and mortality. The anesthetic management of a Cesarean section in patients with PPCM has not been well defined. Herein, our experience of a 31-year-old multipara, with recurrent PPCM and congestive heart failure, who presented for an elective cesarean section, is reported. Combined spinal-epidural anesthesia was successfully employed as the anesthetic technique for the procedure. The intra-arterial blood pressure and central venous pressure were monitored throughout the procedure. In addition, the patient`s postoperative pain was markedly reduced with the use of epidural PCA. Combined spinal-epidural anesthesia is suggested to be a reliable technique, which provides minimal hemodynamic changes, and a lower failure rate than epidural anesthesia only, and is also highly effective with a low dose of local anesthetic drug. This study was designed to examine the effects of diphenhydramine and papaverine on the toxic manifestations of cholinesterase inhibitors. It was found that papaverine increase acetylcholinesterase activity in cerebral cortex of mice. Papaverine pretreatment tended to increase acetylcholinesterase activity against the actions of neostigmine and physostigmine. When diphenhydramine (20-30 mg/kg, s.c.) was treated 20 min before the administration of cholinesterase inhibitor, it significantly extended the onset latency in the signs of toxicosis which were characteristically produced by physostigmine (0.25-1.5 mg/kg, s.c.) or neostigmine (0.125-0.5 mg/kg, s.c.), and it also prevented lethality in all of the animals.
